Took some screencaps from AOTD that would make good headers if anyone wants them

taking off a mask to reveal what lies beneath as a romantic gesture is overdone, and besides i want to see the romantic or even platonic potential of protecting someone's identity beneath the mask, without any expectation of ever being allowed to see what's under it. picking it up and holding it gently to their face when it's knocked off and they're in danger of being exposed, without trying to catch a glimpse of what they "really" look like under there. throwing yourself in front of them to hide them from view while they put themselves back together without taking advantage or looking back to see what you're protecting. learning to read them by body language, tone of voice, and behaviour so well that you never need to see their face to feel like you know and understand them.

Eager colors the drab monotony that has become 547's life since being taken by the Realm. Makes for better posture. A delicate twist of the leather-bound knuckles and fingers. But 547's code reminds: there's no room on a klokateer's palette for this rosy, exciting hue.

Redirecting the unspent energy, 547 wipes pollen from off a tattooed forearm.

"I can't permit you to wear an authentic klokateer hood without completion of the trials," muttered and after agreeing to an extensive background check, "But... We could make a costume version." Prim and professional as the fried voice is, 547's concession is a touched one. "We're called klokateers, by the way. For the bit, you'll need to ditch your name for a number."

a concept: mordaus having gift shop.

it's primarily for the klokateers to pick up exclusive and/or prototype dethklok merch designs, but also open to the infrequent visiting business partners + approved guests + a select number of fans on "fan day"

its funny to me when a cartoon or something has a vague Evil Organization because a lot of fans will instantly decide that there's a whole workplace comedy happening there. those guys can't just be vaguely standing around acting evil all day they've gotta have like an evil break room or something

It's closer to calligraphy, how 547's knife works. Skillful and expressive. Tedium and technique producing a literal depiction. A lit candle is inserted from the bottom of the pumpkin, suffusing warm light onto a knot of unblossomed petals. Nearly done.

"Promotional photoshoot for The Hideout. It's a home decorating magazine," 547 explains, having total confidence in the stack of NDAs still drying. "Mordhaus will be featured for the October issue."

While pinching off a fleshy string from the thorn's fine points, and from the steel teeth of the tool, 547 rasped assuredly: "Party's afterward."

There's a yelp from seven tables down. A squeak of a skidding shoe through pulp, and the bone aching impact of flesh on floor.

"Should have worn the high-traction outsoles."

At least the klokateer in the poor footwear only fell on small paring knife. It was turning out to be a casualty free project. So far.

carving pumpkins together.

joey slashes an angry face into the pumpkin's blood-orange shell. their clothes could smell like pumpkin-pulp for days, damp and thick and sticking to their sleeves like meaty viscera. but the cutting is easy. joey knows how to use a knife; their hands are ice-steady, surgical. distracted, sometimes, by the din of the castle, dozens of staff and security personnel filing through mordhaus like worker-bees. large, scarred bodyguards carving pumpkins and setting up macabre, gory decorations over the walls and ceilings.

hundreds of jack-o-lanterns are spread out across the long, dark corridors of the castle's foyer. joey's handiwork grins, scowls, snarls back at them, warm and flickering, their candlewicks heating the air. they glance at @thegear, eyeing the contrasting gentility of his scarred hands, cutting into a pumpkin with a serrated blade, chipping away at the illustration of a thorny rose.

"what d'we need this many lanterns for? some kind of party?"
