I have thoughts regarding Persona 4 Revival:
1. The title is fine. I actually prefer it to the proposed “Persona 4 Rerun” because the word “Rerun” would imply that it is the exact same thing all over again, and that would be boring. I agree that P4 is not in desperate need of a remake (at least when compared to P3), but if there’s going to be a remake, then they need to do *something* besides overhaul the graphics.
2. Having said that, I suspect Atlus is going to play this pretty safe in terms of the story. The plot beats are probably going to be roughly 1:1 with the original. They aren’t going to change who the killer is (that would be wild, though). They aren’t going to add any playable characters. No one’s sexual/gender identity is going to different (sorry). At most, some side characters might get some more characterization (like maybe the copycat killer; that would be interesting).
3. I am also 95% sure that this will be a remake of Golden, not vanilla P4. I know everyone thinks Atlus is going to milk this game as much as possible through DLC (and there *will* be DLC of some kind) but I think it would be more trouble than it’s worth to tack on the Marie stuff like they did with Episode: Aigis in P3R.
Why? The Answer was essentially a separate game from the main campaign in P3 FES, whereas Marie is present from the beginning of P4G and is a minor but constant presence throughout the game up until Winter, whether you bother with her social link or not. I suppose they could lock the third semester behind DLC if they really wanted to, but that would be both awkward to implement and would pretty much piss off everybody, so why bother?
4. This game is still a *long* ways off. The teaser was brief because that was *all* they had to show. Honestly, I doubt they’ve even started recording voice overs yet. Yuri Lowenthal and the other old VAs probably didn’t have any idea that Revival was in the works, they were just responding to the plethora of questions from fans bugging them about it. I’m pretty sure they’re going to do what they did with P3R, having new actors for the main playable cast, and the old actors return in different roles. Anyway, I’m not expecting P4R until well into 2026, probably late summer or fall.
Okay. I’m done. I didn’t even really get around to what changes I’d actually like to see, but that can wait.

I just saw the teaser for Persona 4 Revival. It was…underwhelming.

Death Stranding 2 is a little over a month away, and there’s one thing I find myself wondering about more than anything else. It’s not the Lucy thing, or who/what Tomorrow actually is.
It’s this guy:

Who the hell is he? I mean, I guess he’s some kind of robot/AI. He doesn’t have an actor listed, so is he just going to have like, a synthetic Microsoft Sam-type voice? Also, *where* is he? It looks like it could be onboard the Magellan, but I don’t know. Do they just…find him somewhere? He’s also the only character in the cast reel that doesn’t appear anywhere else in the trailer, or in any trailer so far. (I think that the voice talking about guns during the battlefield sequence with Neal is the APAC President, but I’m not 100% certain of that.)
So, any guesses?

Or maybe he’s just a younger Tarman. Tarman seems pretty old, but that could easily be from timefall exposure.
Speculation is fun. And Kojima loves teasing us with little things like this.
Edit: OP pointed out that Tarman is also visible in this shot. Never mind.
is this gonna be a dead guy or someones boyfriend. we never know lmao. my first thought was like tomorrow love interest? lmao. but anyways so cute !

Oh, that’s just Mike. He’s interning on the Magellan for the Summer.
Seriously, though. This part of the trailer stood out to me for some reason. He just shows up for a second, and that’s it. Like fifteen different characters are shown with their names at the end of the trailer, including a mannequin and a doctor with two right hands, but this guy isn’t mentioned. It’s just…a bit odd. Oh well. It’s Kojima.

There seem to be two distinct flavors of Persona post today (2/2):
1. Happy Anniversary, Persona 3 Reload 😊
2. RIP Pancake Boy 😭

The other day I watched an entire murder of crows fighting over a single french fry in a parking lot. For some reason the term “Late-Stage Capitalism” popped in my head.

I hear you. I get that some people on the spectrum want to feel empowered, but in the end it’s a mixed blessing at best. Being hyperlexic definitely helped me get through school as a kid, but eventually Gifted Kid Syndrome showed its ugly head and I was just a socially awkward, uncoordinated young adult. I’m over it now, but I still have Executive Disfunction to cope with. Oh well.
I hate the phrase that “autism is a superpower”. It hasn’t granted me any powers unless sensory issues, high anxiety, and social issues.
What are your thoughts?

Enemies-to-lovers situationship where both parties are genuinely unclear on whether they're actually trying to kill each other or whether it's just a mutual bit they're doing and at this point they're afraid to ask.

For a while there’s been *something* bugging me about the Cybertruck. Something beyond the Musk smell, and the weirdly brutalist design. Something I couldn’t quite put my finger on.
Yesterday, it finally hit me.
It’s a Decepticon.
The Cybertruck looks like a Decepticon in car mode.

I can’t stop thinking about the fact that eventually Gen X is going to retire and we’re going to see old folks getting together in large groups to play tabletop RPGs instead of like, Bingo.
#musings#ttrpg#dnd#senior citizens#gen x#not millennials though#they’ll never be able to afford to retire

Hoooooooooooooooooooooo-boy…
I really have nothing to say about what just happened, so I’ll just share a brief anecdote.
On the first Wednesday of November, 2016, I came to work a little bit early and decided to just chill in the break room. A co-worker walked in with a box of cupcakes. The following exchange went something like this:
Me: *looks at cupcakes* Hmm…cupcakes? What’s the occasion?
Her: Oh, you know. I just figured I needed this, after last night.
Me: *has brain fart* What happened last night?
Her: *stares me right in the eye, incredulous* You KNOW what happened last night.
Stay human, everybody.

Just finished Metaphor: Re Fantazio yesterday.
Would like to discuss. There will be spoilers.
- It’s really funny how things went down with Louis almost *exactly* how I predicted, including Forden turning out to be the mastermind behind the Prince’s assassination. And then Louis comes back from the dead and immediately kills Forden, as if to say “Sorry, but I’M still the main villain, thank you very much”. Great moment. Basilio’s awakening afterward was a little weird, though.
- Welp, there was a twist at the end of the second act, just like I thought. Not exactly what I was expecting, but okay. It certainly explains why “Will” is his default name. I know that some people were expecting his name to be “Rene” and honestly that would have fit too. Why? Because Rene Descartes. Cogito Ergo Sum.
-Nothing in the Dragon Temple came as much of a shock. This is an Atlus game after all. A little surprised at all the Etrian Odyssey references, though. Not upset, just surprised at how hard they went with it.
That’s all I really wanted to say. I was quite satisfied overall. Now I’ll just have to wait for Atlus to announce something new.

Okay, one last Metaphor post. I just wanted to mention two details in Akademeia (the Not-Velvet Room):
1. There *is* a 15th archetype. There is a section for it on the second floor with the other 14. It is listed as ?????, but it has an emblem above the bookcase just like the others. I have no idea what it could be, but I think it either belongs to Louis or the Prince.
2. The Book of the Apocalypse. It’s just sitting there, bright red, locked with chains, looking ominous. If you check it, More tells you that you shouldn’t read it. So...what the fuck is it doing there? This thing is either going to be super important later (likely), or it’s just there for flavor (which would be kind of funny).
I can’t wait to play the full game.
Edit: Spelling; Clarified details of evil book.
