Book Recommendation Part Two
I am going to recommend my own book this time, because why not? It released in June and is a collection of five short stories and an epilogue in a fantasy world I created. I had oodles of fun writing it and I sincerely hope anyone who picks it up enjoys the read.
The name is Tales of Zander. It is available on Amazon and Chicken House Press (my publisher's website), and Barnes and Noble.
Here is a picture, for your convenience.

Hello New Year
With the new year comes new goals, aspirations, and achievements. It also means leaving things behind. For me, I'm leaving behind all my Ai Shenanigans.
I'll be honest with you all: I'm an aspiring author. Now that my first book is finally in the works, I'm gonna try my best to use this platform somehow to further its success.
Will I succeed? Who knows?
Will uncertainty stop me? Not a chance.

Random Advice
You guys ever just have little idioms, adages, and proverbs pop into your head at random?
Me: "I should go brush my teeth, but I'm tired so...not tonight."
My Memory: "Take care of your teeth and your teeth will take care of you."
Me: ".....mkay." *brushes teeth*

Writing
Most writing courses: "We will teach you how to write an essay."
The course I'm taking: "Read this snippet of Dickens. Imitate his style."
Also the course I'm taking: "Here is a list of common errors in writing. Now cram as many of these into three hundreds words as possible."

Book Recommendations Part One
Do you ever want to freak out over a book but it has absolutely no fandom? The only people I could asdhdsjkhdsajfadh (as the saying goes) over the book with were my parents, so believe me when I say I subdued myself somewhat.
I am here to recommend the Winter Soul Series by Jennifer Kropf. The first book is A Soul as Cold as Frost. It takes many, many Christmas traditions and such and combines it into a fantasy world called Winter. The main character is your average Canadian bookworm who gets sucked into a world bigger, better, and leagues more dangerous than she ever imagined.
Is it a book meant to be read in the winter time? Yes. Will that stop me from reading and recommending it? No.
You don't have to read this book, but I figured I would put the suggestion out there because it is an awesome series and has become very close to my heart. It is prosy, well-written, is clean in such a way that even conservative homeschooled Christians can read it without worry, and filled with action.

Mathematic of Linguistics?
Dear Math Lovers, I almost envy you. If I loved algebra and pre-calculus I would be a happier scholar.
Me doing math: "When will this be over? Beg pardon? What is this about? Logarithms again? Uh oh, here comes the apathy. I'ma just guess."
Me doing Latin: "asddhslkjfhdsjaklshfakjds, that was so fun! Is there more?! Gimme more! That's where that English word comes from? Cool! Do I have time for another lesson before I must move onto something else? I don't. Dang it."
I think I know what my brain is hardwired for.

Rosie Cotton
I come to sing the praises of Rosie Cotton because somebody's gotta do it and it might as well be me.
Rosie Cotton is an underrated character in The Lord of the Rings, probably because she doesn't get much screen time. As this is a semi-rant, it will not be neat or organized but it is from the depths of my heart and I would greatly appreciate it if you read the full thing...
Rosie is cheerful, kind, and encouraging. (Not to mention a great dancer.) She and Sam are an obvious match from the beginning. How so? Well, have you seen the looks she gives him and the looks he tries not to give her? They like each other. Frodo knows it. I know it. You know it.
But Sam is shy, especially in the books. He isn't the kind to boldly walk up to a lady and say, "I like you. A lot." But here's the thing: Rosie is patient. She knows Sam and knows it'll be worth the wait. Even when Sam and three of his friends disappear for several months, she doesn't forget him.
Near the end of The Return of the King (Movie, it's been a while since I read the book), when the One Ring is destroyed and Frodo and Sam are reminiscing, the first thing Sam pictures is Rosie Cotton dancing with ribbons in her hair. "If I were ever to marry somebody, it would've been 'er."
And he does.
One of my favorite scenes in all LotR is when the four Hobbits are back drinking at the Green Dragon and you see Sam look at Rosie and Rosie looks at Sam. And Sam slams his drink on the table and goes over to Rosie. My heart!
The wedding is cute and endearing, and fun fact, they live happily ever after and have thirteen children.
In summary, Rosie Cotton is patient, kind, encourages her shy crush, becomes a great wife and mother. Girls, it is okay. You don't need to be a strong warrior princess like Eowen. You don't need to be graceful and ethereal like Arwen. It is okay to be cute and quaint. All three of these and places in between are okay.
Hope you liked my haphazard post. This is a new record for me.

Being a Baggins
You guys ever just reread the Hobbit and realize, "Great googly moogly, I'm Bilbo."
Seriously. The Took and Baggins side of my personality are constantly at war.
"ADVENTURE!" screams the Took.
"Peaceful life in a rural town," says the Baggins.
The only thing they seem to agree on it tea. Tea is fantastic.
