Witch: How did you get into chaos magick?
Chaos Magician: Finally understanding the core mechanics of Mage: the Awakening.
W: 👀
CM: Once I understood it was magical energy that had to be flowed through different Traditions, aka frameworks, it was just a matter of accepting I could plug and play without necessarily aligning with a specific Tradition.

Occult Blinds
Within the spiritual community, some make a vow to a spirit or deity to only share arcane knowledge with those who are both worthy of and ready for that information. To pull from Gerald Gardner's "A Gardenarian Book of Shadows", we are talking about a "proper person, properly prepared".
This is where occult blinds come in. These are layered levels of insight. A novice might see the surface-level information, be content, and run off believing they've learned all that they need to know. Only those who have a deeper level of understanding, the type that can only be gained through experience, will see that deeper meaning without being told.
Because the deeper knowledge was set up as a riddle through the use of symbols, the teacher using the occult blind can share information without breaking their oaths.

I was thinking about all this fascination with The Adjuster.
Have you ever witnessed theatre that hits you on a soul level?
Like, it is a physical manifestation of your frustration?
And I am talking a deep visceral frustration. Like being an animal stuck in a cage and wanting out.
And that cage is "the system". All of what we struggle against in order to survive. The lack of safety net. The fight to survive while dealing with the siren's call to "keep up" with your neighbors. And the divide between the "haves" and "have not"
And maybe part of that divide involved access to affordable health care. And because of that either you or someone you knew suffered.
And perhaps they didn't make it. Maybe it was an experimental cancer treatment that wasn't covered. Or insulin. Or antidepressants.
There's an anger that burns. Not just from the loss, but the injustice. And that anger needs to feed. It needs a catharsis.
The notion of someone walking up to a CEO and shooting them in the back breaks our reality. It's so outside of normal that it seems surreal - more like a play than our gritty reality.
The more we learn, the more bizarre it gets. You know that sense you feel when you are watching a good movie, suspend disbelief, and become immersed. It's like our brains are doing that in reverse - treating the shooting more like media we consume than ... actual, gritty reality.
We've become so dehumanized (and sometimes commodified) by the systems around us that the lives of others (beyond our immediate circle) feel less real. Because of that, those judged as villainous were openly mocked, the hurt of the deceased's loved ones met with apathy.
The fascination exists because the shooter found that part of us that was screaming in the walk-in cooler during break, and brought it to life.

Will Art Mirror Reality?
Resisting the urge to write short supernatural/spiritual fiction stories about people realizing that mega-corps are becoming the new "gods" in the United States, their CEO's are avatars, and there's occultists who are trying to subtly deal with it... until someone decides it's best to go a more direct and physical route (IYKYK). Which has some weird effects on the metaphysical side.

I've seen the reactions to the Paris 2024 Olympics opening ceremony. If you're feeling emotionally activated or think, "OMG, they just mocked The Last Supper," take a moment to breathe, ground, and allow those feelings to move through you.
When we perceive things that we hold dear to our sense of self as being challenged, it can lead to a minor inner crisis. So, I get the visceral response.
For those of us raised in the United States, Christianity is so baked into our society that we sometimes see it as the "default" for our culture - even when we're supposed to be a melting pot/salad bowl of people who are free to follow whatever religion they want (or no religion, even!)
For your information, Dionysus is the god of wine and celebration. His mythos involve things like his body being consumed, death, and rebirth - elements that we see in other religions (including Christianity)
The strong response toward the Olympic opening ceremony shows more about the offended than the thing that caused the offense. Some Christians viewed an artistic performance that used motifs from other religions and cultures through the lens of their own worldview rather than trying to understand the overall context.
This is why a nation that espouses freedom of religion needs to be open to education about a multitude of religions, not just Christianity.
