*facepalm*
Otherkin are not oppressed. Even if oppression exists for kin it is on an individual basis based on someone’s own personal experiences with other’s if they choose to be public about their identity.
Otherkin are NOT the same as a race or even a worldly culture such as Indonesian or black. So therefore, appropriation on a cultural level does not exist.

Looking for Writers
***LOOKING FOR WRITERS*** Must be 18 years old. Be able to write posts that are well thought out, proofread, and offer some kind of new discussion to this page and the Otherkin Community as a whole. Be willing to admin this page with me and commit to writing a post at least once every month to bimonthly if possible.
I have to admit that I haven't kept up with this page too much in the last six months or so I believe? I haven't felt up to writing all that much recently as I've struggled with seasonal depression this fall season. And to be honest, sometimes I feel like I'm dry on ideas so, I thought it might be helpful to bring a different view point on this page. So, if you would like to apply for this position feel free to comment on this post, message the page, or message the account Suna Zelda Raen Anuni.

5) Having kintypes does not equal possession or is some out of body experience that changes by gaining someone’s energy.
FACT: I don’t even think I have to explain this one very much. It’s not possession because these kintypes were you in another life or are you in your head. I can understand the confusion sometimes with shifts or other energy work such as channeling. But they aren’t the same thing. If you think this you are wrong.
Misconceptions
I would like to clear up some misconceptions about otherkin:
1) You become otherkin by trying to shape shift or connecting with some sort of animal or mythological creature.
FACT: You don’t become otherkin because it’s an identity, or it is something that you see yourself as everyday. We all know we are human. But we feel that deep down somewhere inside we are a mythological creature or animal. It is also impossible to shape shift according to physics.
2) We are all furries or teen wolves.
FACT: Furries and teen wolves are separate communities in life. First of all, furries do not identify as animals they creature characters called fursonas and make costumes for them. Teen wolves are these people often teens who dress up like werewolves (i.e. wearing fake tails or collars or dressing in all black) for a fashion statement. An otherkin can be either a furry or teen wolf but a teen wolf or furry can also not be otherkin. Again, the fact is that not all otherkin are furries or teen wolves.
3) You must be spiritual or believe you have to have a soul as an otherkin.
FACT: Again, this depends on the person, some otherkin are spiritual and believe that their otherness stems from their souls or past lives. Also, some otherkin may be pagan or other “minority religions”. But that could also be the reverse. Some otherkin believe that a soul does not exist and that their otherness stems from weird brain wiring or a trauma occurring during childhood that changed your identity. There are also otherkin aethiests. (hope I spelled that right sorry if I didn’t. I don’t mean to offend anyone)
4) Otherkin is a coping mechanism or otherkin are crazy and need a shrink.
FACT: Otherkin is not a coping mechanism though there are some blurry lines around people who found the otherkin community or kinmunnity through a traumatizing experience such as bullying or depression. Otherkin also do not need shrinks if they can function and live a healthy life.
This is about all I could come up with for now… I will update it when I come up with more misconceptions to right about.

I agree with most of this. And it could be of use to some of our more spiritual members of the otherkin community.
Important Spirit Work Shit
Based on a sorely uneducated conversation about spirits I recently had.
- Not all spirits are human. Most have been spirits from the beginning.
- Be respectful of spirits. They are beings and not tools to accomplish your own petty goals. They can choose not to work with you or even interact with you.
- Whether or not you leave an offering for a spirit is up to you. However, if you promised an offering and did not deliver, or you’re only saying that to get them to work with you, or you try to forcibly bind a spirit to you in any way, get ready to get your shit just fuckin W R E C K E D son. Usually, once you open yourself up to working with spirits, they just come pouring in. Literally, so many spirits. Light ones, dark ones, benevolent, malevolent, truth tellers, liars, and anything in between. If they see you doing this to their fellow spirits, let’s just say, you’re gonna have a bad time.
- Spirits can lie. Just like us. To avoid this as best you can (nothing is 100% foolproof), set up some wards or other protective agents to keep lying tongues away from your communication devices. Be polite and ask if they are willing to give completely honest answers. Hold them to their word. Be honest with them too, and here’s a few tricks I’ve learned to weed out a liar as well:
1. If the answer you are thinking in your head is the answer they give you, they may be lying. Check a few times, same question, thinking different answers. If the spirit continues to give you your answers, cleanse yourself, your space, and your communication devices immediately and try again
2. To test if the spirit is impersonating a spirit you’ve worked with before, ask a question you and your real spirit friend know the answer to. Think of a different answer in your head. (This takes practice) Many spirits can read minds, so if they start to spell out the answer you’re thinking instead of the real answer, they’re an imposter.
3. Okay so this one is definitely helpful but don’t rely on it solely for your answers. Knowing the moon phases are really helpful in spirit work. In my own experience, I’ve noticed that around the time of the New Moon some dark spirits become more active than light spirits. Around the Full Moon, some light spirits become more active than dark spirits. This can help if you find that your answers are becoming more aggressive for a few days out of the month. Check the moon phases. *DISCLAIMER* NOT ALL DARK SPIRITS ARE LIARS AND MALEVOLENT, NOT ALL LIGHT SPIRITS ARE HONEST AND BENEVOLENT. USE YOUR INTUITION. THIS IS JUST A LITTLE SOMETHING EXTRA TO CONSIDER WHEN COMMUNICATING WITH SPIRITS.
4. Going along with the moon phase thing, if you’re a pendulum user, the force of which your pendulum moves can also be a big key. My spirit companion is a darling sweetheart and she is definitely affected by the moon phases. Around the New Moon her answers become weaker and often I have to strain to hear her using my telepathy. Knowing this, if around the New Moon I was talking to her and she swung the pendulum really erratically, I’d have some doubts that it was really her. Look for activity or answers that are out of character!
5. USE YOUR INTUITION. Does it feel like the spirit is just telling you what you want to hear? Does the air around you suddenly feel wrong? Is the spirit being aggressive and making you uncomfortable? Is it threatening you? SAY GOODBYE AND CLEANSE. Take a break, do some cleansing stuff, get some tea and a snack, or whatever you fancy, and try again later.
Feel free to add to this post! Let’s spread some much needed knowledge around tumblr please

Note
Yeah I go back and forth usually between spiritual and no clue really.
Is it a thing for me to be a therian but have absolutely no clue why? i.e, I'm not a spiritual therian or psychological therian, I'm a ????? therian
Absolutely! Nobody really knows why we exist, and the spiritual v.s. psychological thing is basically just a way of grouping people by the type of explanation they think is more plausible. Many (if not most) people fall into the third category of “I have no clue”.

Elitists what do you think?
I was looking at the comments (of the post) and someone cited it was because they maintained such a scientific or psychological/ factual basis for their kinity that you weren't allowed to be spiritual. What do you think?
For me, I don't think it's because of that the they are ground in scientific evidence that they don't like spiritual otherkin-- it's just when spirituality doesn't seem sanely grounded anymore that they will lash out.

I love draft horses. I use to ride what seemed like a Belgian draft horse at the time but it might’ve just been a halflinger when I was younger at my old barn. Although, she was often lazier than other horses, she had a great canter. Since she had a long stride, I could sit it really well and it felt like I was smoothly flying along the countryside, side of the ring etc. Also, she was really fun to ride out in the field and on the trails. She was my favorite horse at the barn but was unfortunately sold during the time I decided to take a break from riding.
Tumblr media
I never made a post about draft horses. :T They are the gentle giants of the horse world, sometimes growing as large as 20 hands and over 2000 lbs. The tallest horse in the world is an American-type Belgian horse named Big Jake (I think???).
Tumblr media
A very big (but good) boy!
Despite their size, draft horses are known for their quiet, even temperaments, which make them good work horses. They were originally bred to pull wagons and plows, and they still do that. The most famous draft horses are probably the Budweiser Clydesdales, i.e. the horses in those Superbowl commercials that make us cry every goddamn year.
Tumblr media
Draft horses can be ridden, and they are often crossed with lighter breeds, such as Thoroughbreds and Quarter Horses, to create tall, sturdy-boned, quiet sport horses.
Tumblr media
Such horses were a common sight during foxhunts, as “hotter” breeds, like Arabians and Thoroughbreds, tend to lose their minds a bit in the chaos of the hunt. Draft horses can also be crossed with Mammoth Jack donkeys to create draft mules, which are also used to pull plows for the Amish.

Tumblr media
There are a lot of draft breeds, some more common than others. Many of the common ones are easy to tell apart from the others, but they’re all large-boned and tall, except for the draft ponies, such as Halflingers and Norwegian Fjord horses.
The Belgian
There are two Belgian horses, one that’s popular in Europe and another that’s very common in the US.
This is the European-type “Brabant” Belgian, which tends to be very thick boned and roan in color.
Tumblr media
This is the American-type Belgian, which is lighter-boned and always sorrel/palomino in color:
Tumblr media
Here is a Brabant Belgian mare pulling some shit:
youtube
A lot of draft horses really do enjoy pulling stuff, as much as a horse CAN enjoy doing anything that’s not eating grass and farting. Horse pulls are a common sight in Middle America, often done using Belgian horses. Here’s one of a team pulling 9200 lbs. They pull for a very short period of time, often only a few seconds.
youtube
Next up is the Percheron, which has a similar body type to the Belgians but are always black or dapple. They can be slightly more spirited than Belgian horses, with some demonstrating high stepping action.
Tumblr media
They are not to be confused with Friesians, who have much more “feathered” legs and feet (long hair around the lower legs) and are lighter-boned. Friesians also don’t come in dapple colors, like the horse at the top of this post.
Clydesdales
Clydesdales are recognizable because they are a) always bay colored and b) almost always have four white socks and a blaze on their faces. They also have much more feathering on their legs than Percherons or Belgians. Clydesdales are more common in parades and the like because they tend to be slightly lighter than Percheron and Belgians, and because of this, they’re more agile and “showy”. You probably would not want to plow with a Clydesdale. You could, but their feathering means their feet get dirty much easier than a Belgians might.
Tumblr media
Shire Horse
Shires come in a variety of colors, usually black or bay, and they are probably the most “feathered” horses of the popular breeds. They’ve got lots of fur on their feet.
Tumblr media
Gypsy Vanner Horses
Gypsy Vanner horses got their start pulling Roma wagons, but now they’re mostly used in fantasy photoshoots, and you can see why. They are beautiful horses, definitely not the type you’d want toiling in the muck. They are almost always paint colored, which distinguishes them from Shire horses.
Tumblr media
These are the main, most popular and commonly seen full-sized draft breeds, at least in the US. However, there are also draft ponies, the most popular of which is the Halflinger, which resembles a shrunken Belgian horse. They are ALWAYS sorrel/palomino colored, but their frame can vary. Some Halflingers are lighter-boned and more suitable for riding. Others are thicker-boned and better for pulling.
Tumblr media
The other unmistakable draft pony is the Norwegian Fjord, easily recognized by the black stripe in the center of its mane, like a reverse ice cream sandwich.
Tumblr media
This can lead to some creative hair cuts
Tumblr media
So there you go. That’s a somewhat comprehensive review of draft horse breeds. Here is a size comparison for funsies, with the average riding horse in the middle.

Mermaid and dragonkin.
hi, I spent a good few hours diving down the rabbit-hole of otherkin tags because I’m pretty new to it, and I honestly find the concept so interesting, and I want to learn more about it on an individual level.
if you’re any kind of otherkin (spacekin, therian, deitykin, etc.) and you’re okay with talking, I’d love to talk with you to gain a deeper understanding of your specific kin and kintypes all around ☺️
If you’re alright with talking, reblog this or reply with your kintype and I’ll follow you and send a message your way. Thank you so much! 😌💕

Shifting
What is shifting? Shifting in the otherkin community or kinmunity is when a person undergoes changes in behavior most often involving the behaviors of their kin-type. Are there different types of shifts? Yes, otherkin can undergo many different types of shifts. The most common shifts experienced (in no particular order) are: 1) Mental shifts 2) Phantom shifts/ Astral shifts 3) Dream shifts 4) Sensory shifts What is a mental shift? A mental shift is whenever a person's mindset for whatever reason changes from a human mindset to the mindset of their kin-type. So for example, say you are at work and your kin-type is a dragon, when you go through a mental shift you might want to roar or "fly" (not literally but you'd have the want to fly). Though, since you are at work you would not want to do that so, you could control it and then let out the mental shift at home in privacy. What are phantom shifts or astral shifts? A phantom or astral shift is when a person who is otherkin will feel a limb or part of their kin-type that is not actually there. Some people just think phantom shifts are due to a weird brain wiring. Some spiritual otherkin may call their phantom shifts astral shifts, though they are really the same definition, but instead they believe that these plans lay on another dimension called the astral realm. What are dream shifts? Dream shifts are shifts where you turn or shape shift into your kin-type during a dream. What are sensory shifts? Sensory shifts are when a person experiences changes of their five senses like one sense might take over all the others and become more intense or all five of your senses will become really intense. Or you could gain a sense of your kin-type. What is cameo shifting? Cameo shifting is when a person experiences any shift but usually phantom shifts of something else other than their kin-types. For some this may happen rarely and for some they may go through intense periods of cameo shifts. Cameo shifts aren't as common though as the other shifts. But I felt it important to mention since some people can get rather confused when they start feeling shifts of another thing.
