I missed blogging, so I created this. But then I didn't know what to blog about. I recently got very interested in programming, thus that's what I'm gonna be blogging about -- my journey to become the next Dennis Ritchie, or at least a good enough coder to make my first app which is totally not gonna be lame at all. We'll see.

Captain Marvel
aka Carol Danvers is supposed to be the Marvel equivalent of Superman, right? I mean, their costumes both have red, blue and yellow/gold. Also, they both have super strength, durability, flight and energy projection. Or is this like a 'duh' thing in the fandom? In which case, sorry, I'm very new. I know that there isn't necessarily a rivalry, but I typically root for the underdog which in this situation is DC. However, I just couldn't help but get behind Marvel and Disney for their admirable STE(A)M advocacy, as we all should. Y'all go, WHOO! As a side note, STEM or STEAM? Personally to me, it's just that, wasn't it the point of STEM to promote science subjects when the liberal arts were (and still are) dominating? Food for thought.

A Quiet Place
...was TENSE AS FUCK and emotional at the same time. At several points, the movie in some ways reminded me of Get Out and IT, especially in that horror movies can be genuinely thrilling, original and not cliched. I URGE you to experience this brilliance for yourself. 4/4
PS, I was truly fascinated when I saw Mr Wrench and Mr Numbers communicating in ASL in Fargo Season 1 to the point that I keep rewatching the scene on YouTube even to this day and also to the point that I considered learning ASL (but I never got around to it.) So it was amazing to watch a film where the characters mostly communicate in sign language.
PPS, it kinda bummed me out that my fellow audience members were such Vulcans, i.e. BORING. I don't think they reacted much to the movie, especially the guy beside me. While I was trying to clamp my mouth shut or look at the screen through my fingers, he was just...sitting there. Masculinity is so fragile. *scoffs* Also, I find it ironic (I suppose) and (as always) annoying that people (read: children) were making noises (read: wailing) during a movie where (SPOILER ALERT) within like the first ten minutes a little boy was brutally slaughtered for being noisy.
PPPS, I don't think I've mentioned this before, but I'm very passionate about films (and TV and, to a slightly lesser extent, books -- talk about a generic personal characteristic) so now and again I'm gonna be doing reviews like this. I quite enjoyed writing this post and, while I know that I'm not the next Roger Ebert or that this review is written as eloquently as Anton Ego's at the end of Ratatouille (probably my all-time favourite film), nonetheless I hope you enjoyed reading it and can get something out of it. Leave a suggestion on how I can improve as a critic. ;*

Procrastination
I haven't brought myself to start on my first assignment yet. I procrastinate a lot and severely. I've been using this amazing app though called Programming Hub. I'm gonna write about it, if not later, then tomorrow. So stay tuned!
PS, I have schoolwork due tomorrow which I haven't even started on. Also, it's about half an hour to midnight here and this is my first (and possibly only) post today, which is very disappointing as I promised to update regularly. These further demonstrate how truly shitty my work ethic is. Oh, well.

First Assignment
I'm gonna change my Mr Robot-inspired tags from like 'about_me.docx' to the mundane 'about me' and then I'm gonna take a look at this blog's HTML code and, without retitling the tags in the drop-down menu, try to get them to direct to the respective posts. Should be cake, right?

Realisation
My Mr Robot-inspired tags aren't working, so I'm changing them. Thank Turing I discovered this early rather than when I've had like 50 posts, amirite.

The verdict's in
After a dozen or so YouTube videos on this (special thanks to CS Dojo and shoutout to this sick-ass, inspiring AF game created using Python), as expected, I'm going with Python as the language that I'm gonna focus on and try to master from this point forward. Someone in the YouTube comments section (oh, boy) and some of the YouTubers I watched said not to be too preoccupied trying to choose your first language (too late XD) and instead I should focus on trying to grasp the fundamentals of programming which would help me code better and master any language more quickly. Seems like very sound advice. Glad I heard it. And so my journey to Python mastery begins. Wish me luck (or rather, leave a suggestion here) and stay tuned for my progress! ;)

Statute Search App
One of the many reasons I am pursuing coding is because I want to run away from law school. So it’s quite funny to think that the first app I’m probably gonna make when I have got a hang of the skill is an app that presents people, particularly lawyers, law students and lecturers, with all the relevant legal provisions for a specific issue(s). For example, if someone looks up ‘murder’, they would get some sections on murder from the criminal code and with further development, the app would even break down the elements of an offence, suggest defences and provide case laws. It sounds simple, unnecessary and unoriginal. But this is not the same as looking up an entire act in PDF online that may or may not be applicable and then searching for a specific term in the document. The app would efficiently do all this and more for you, e.g. with further development, it could ask the user for more input so as to narrow down the search results. Just an idea.

It's such a shame
...that I haven't finished one book this year. I haven't had the time, though that's no excuse. ;(
I'm currently trying to finish Swing Time by Zadie Smith, though.

I still have not decided on a programming language to start with. :/

Of course it isn’t original.
I was googling for Tumblr programming blogs to follow when I found out that, of course (how naive I was to even think otherwise), the idea for this blog is not at all original. Nothing can be at this point, I think. Anyway, I came across this great Reddit post that listed some really promising blogs, particularly dargacode. Maybe I should ask them which language I should start with. (As a side note, there’s actually a term for this thing I’m tryna do -- a progress diary.) I can’t wait to check out all the other blogs.
PS, it’s such a real bummer that you can’t make your secondary blog your primary one. Tumblr, WTH?! Fix this shit right now!
PPS, I’m gonna take the night to think through and decide on the programming language I’m gonna learn in the coming months.

The Pascalmouth
This is what I should’ve put (and wanted to put but I forgot the word ‘Pascal’) as my URL or blog title. Oh, well. Maybe later.

Sorting Hat for Coders
...is honestly what the ‘What is the Best Programming Language for Me?’ quiz feels like, only it doesn’t tell you the answer based on your personal traits, abilities and all that. But rather you first have to know what you would like to do with your hypothetical coding skills, which I have no idea...exactly. If I primarily used Apple products or the people around me did, I would immediately go with Swift. I’ll probably decide on Python in the end, but Java and HTML5 are tempting options as well... Decisions, decisions...

An Introduction
Three things I want to tell you about me:
1. I am studying law in my second year. I have become disillusioned by law school and the legal profession for many, many reasons. I still love the law. I just don’t think that I want to work in it in its present and foreseeable state. I have 75 per cent of a mind to change to either computer science or (most probably) software engineering. But it’s kinda complicated since I’m on a scholarship. If I just get a verbal confirmation that I don’t have to pay back any of my scholarship money, then bye-bye, law school. You’ve been fun, but most of the shit you’re associated with I will never miss.
2. I don’t think I’m entirely a noob when it comes to programming. I learnt C++ in high school, but I’ve forgotten all about it. I dabbled a liiiiittle bit in Python and Swift last year. Who knows? This all might help me in my ‘journey’. (I kinda hate that word TBH, but IDK what other word to use.) I hope by August (that’s like four months from now) I will have become good enough to make something like the Tumblr mobile app (or any other decent, non-amateurish app that is professional-looking, easy-to-use and not clunky, i.e. sophisticated, as well as useful unlike -- no offence, really -- this game) or, better yet, good enough to even apply to Google and not be laughed at. Unrealistic? We’ll see.
3. I forgot what my third point was. That happens a lot, especially nowadays. I’m also very fickle. My interests change often, so who knows? I might get bored of this whole thing tomorrow and go back to trying to sell my soul to the law. Anyway, the third and last thing I want to tell you about me is that I don’t actually know why I wanna pursue programming exactly, which makes it hard when I do the ‘What is the Best Programming Language for Me?’ quiz -- the result of which I’m gonna share with you in my next post. But yeah, IDK why I really wanna do this, except that I want a new skill and programming is objectively a brilliant choice. Mark my words, by 2025 coding and computer science in general will be a core subject in schools. Knowing and being able to write code in like Python will be as basic as knowing the multiples of six and being able to read, write and speak in English. Wired thinks so too. But we’ll see. Anyway, IDK why I precisely want to learn programming, but I know that my current short-term goal is to master a language to the point that I can easily create an app in a week or less or however long it typically takes to make an app.
So that’s me. Stay tuned if you want [seductively a la sick Monica] some more of this. :*
PS, if you can’t already tell by now, my tags are inspired by Mr Robot episode titles. The show is seriously underrated, but that’s alright. USA will never cancel it.
PPS, I am fucking done trying to please people, especially authority. You cannot, it’s impossible. People and I just do not mix well together. Networking is crucial in the legal profession. That’s one of the many, many reasons I despise and desperately want to get away from it.
PPPS, I promise (myself mostly) to post at least once or twice every day.
PPPPS, should I get a buy a custom domain? .....nah, I’ll reward myself with a custom domain if I manage to keep this blog active for a month. .....but on second thought, paying for a custom domain for this blog would incentivise me to keep it updated. Decisions, decisions...

Morty is a lot smarter than people give him credit for.
Case in point: his idea that the parasites were those of which they had no bad memories.
...or is this something the fandom been knew for a while now?
I’m new to the fandom if you can’t tell.
