Thoughts on Organic Cherries

I’m usually known for my personal musings on life and reposting all of my IG content here, but today I wanted to take a moment to recognize an under appreciated member of the fruit-punch family: the cherry. Note, the sour cherries are the ones with the nutritional value, not the sweet ones.

Cherries are over-priced, but for good reason: you can’t automate their harvest. In other words, they’re handpicked globally to preserve the appearance and taste. All the tech and AI in the World probably won’t change that either. Not to mention they are notoriously difficult to keep alive, so with advances in hydroponics and vertical farming, this might be something I’d want to look at as an amateur farmer...

Demand will always stay high. I just look at my own consumption and use around me. Artificial flavorings in soda...preservatives and jams...it’s extracts could be used to make dyes and the trees create some of the best lumber feedstock for fine furniture in the World.

In conclusion, I’m thinking about growing some. We’ve got a family farm in Georgia that my aunt maintains and markets. If we expand, maybe we’ll give this a shot too. Hopefully we can come across some heirloom organic cherry seeds...that’d be the way to go. I’ll keep you all posted.

So I did something I never do...I compiled a list of tracks I’d bought on iTunes and never used.
