So I made an fma themed tarot spread because why not???
Tumblr media
I don’t know if this kind of thing has been done before! I don’t claim to know if the information is accurate — it’s mostly theory based on some loose research. Also the symbols used in the canon transmutation circle are really different so it’s more or less guesswork on what’s what. I think it makes sense though??
Let me know if you use this, and if it’s insightful!
Human Transmutation Tarot Spread
The human transmutation circle appears to be made up of two parts: the Three Primes (Cards 1-3) in a triangle, and the Seven Metals of Ancients (Cards 4-9) in the outer circle.
Tumblr media
The Three Primes
In Alchemy, “Tria Prima” refers to the three fundamental elements that constitute all matter. They are sulfur (anima - the soul), mercury (spiritus - the spirit) and salt (corpus - the body).
The Primes are related to the Law of the Triangle - in which two components (All) come together to make a third (One). All is One, One is All, get it-?
1.) Sulfur (soul) - Emotional matters
2.) Mercury (spirit) - Intellectual matters
3.) Salt (body) - Material matters
The Seven Metals
The seven* metals represent the different stages of transmutation. They are also symbolic of different aspects of the universe and the human experience; and associated with the planets.
4.) Gold / Sun - Ego, Conscious
5.) Silver / Moon - Subconscious
6.) Copper / Venus - Love
7.) Iron / Mars - Strength, Conflict
8.) Tin / Jupiter - Growth
9.) Lead / Saturn - Limitations, Responsibilities
*The metal mercury is not included because it is already accounted for in the Tria Prima, this is I assume to avoid redundancy.

Sagittarius Full Moon tonight. Whimsy & wanderlust must be honored.
I don't know if I'll be up at exactly 3:44 am tonight when she hits for my timezone... but you never know
Either way, I'll be doing this ritual spread sometime tonight or tomorrow, and I would be delighted if you'd care to join me. If you do pull for it, I'd love to hear your takeaways
Edit: I've become aware that my card positions might end up being confusing... I might've spared a thought to make sure upright vs reversal positions were crystal clear, but tbh the chaos is kinda giving 'big Sadge energy,' no? I made this one with my feet on fire, so I'ma let it ride \o/ (maybe just don't do reversals for this one lol)

Been feeling like I've abandoned my decks and my practice so I decided to do a simple casual reading with my Alleman's Tarot
Question: What do you want to tell me?
Cards: No set number, ended up being three
Tumblr media
Card 1: The Performer
Masks - things being different externally and internally. You may dress up to as a part, but it is out if habit more than passion. Who are you performing for? What lies have you turned into habits?
Card 2: Four of Swords
Falling on one's own sword might be dramatic, but you certainly prick yourself with your own dafgers. Self doubt, overwhelm, anxiety. You feel a need to hide and make yourself small, but the call is coming from inside the house.
Card 3: The Hermit, Reversed
A reverse of the good of the Hermit - isolation without reason, pointless self-imposed exile. You may blame something else, but it's your own self keeping you away and distant.
Well then. I feel almost a little bit attacked, to be honest 😂
Guess in a nutshell the deck is telling me I'm too hard on myself, too scared to open up and self isolating and putting on a happy face in an attempt to lie to myself about what I want and why. I need to be kinder and more truthful to myself, and open up to the people around me.
I thought I had been doing that. But I guess I'm really not, huh?

"What Secrets Am I Keeping From Myself?"
Deck: The Oracle of Secrets
Tumblr media
I originally only intended to do one or two cards for this, but I just couldn't put down the deck until I drew all three at the bottom. At the end, I also couldn't stop thinking of the image on the back of the card at the top - it had stuck out to me when I first began to shuffle, and continued to do so during the whole process, so I felt it must've been a guiding card. I went through the deck to find it before using it as an anchor card for the whole reading.
Reading Below:
Anchor Card: The Seamstress
This is apparently a card in reference to The Astromythos, a poem. It warns us to allow people to take the time they need to grow, even if they withdraw into them selves. Not to rush process for the fear of destroying what could be by interrupting. Giving change its designated time and being patient.
The Bell Tolls in Shadow
While in light the card is about a moment of devastation, the Shadow is living in constant fear that there COULD be one, and hanging to that anxiety without reason. Always anticipating the worst or thinking you can never regain something once lost. Constant worry that things will be terrible and never good again.
The Unspoken
Keeping secrets, and the things left unsaid to others, hidden away in the depths of ourselves - unexpected emotion, desires, truths, or admissions. Sometimes this is good, but some things need to be spoken - things need to see the light to breathe and grow.
Mula
The cutting of roots that have begun to rot, for the greater good of the whole. It may hurt at first, but it is necessary. Look at your attachments, both literal and figurative, and see which may be better to cut off and let go, rather than to keep hanging on and allowing them to strangle you.
Overall I think the message here is to not rush myself with revealing or working on these "secrets" inside me and giving myself time to work them out, one by one, whenever I am ready - but not to ignore them, either. My anxiety and constant fear everything will crumble around me, my perpetual silence and refusal to communicate my feelings or emotions or life with others, my tendency to cling to safety and attachments rather than cut off what I'm used to to grow... these are all definitely things in me I've been ignoring and trying to dance around and hide behind. Secrets I've been keeping from myself. Now that I am aware of them and they've been brought to light, I need to work on each in turn, waiting gently until my cocoon opens and allows them into the world.
I also saw The Seamstress and immediately thought about my transness and gender struggles, which I associate strongly with the act of creation and sewing especially. This is another angle to consider - wether the deck is the one telling me or it's a strong subconscious message I am projecting is up for debate, but either way it's something to take note of as my deep inner secrets are being revealed.
This deck is an interesting one to work with - gentle with it's advice, but not drawing back on telling you the truth, and rather guiding you to see the message yourself. It definitely allows you to reason out it's meanings more and follow its clues, rather than some decks I have that will slap you in the face with the answers.

I'm excited for the Scorpio full moon tomorrow, so I made this spread to help work with that energy.
Because what’s more Scorpio than willingly crawling through emotional hell to become a more powerful version of yourself?

Wellness Tarot Spread
A while back I made a tarot spread based on the wellness wheel, but it didn’t feel quite right. Like the wellness wheel, my spread felt too focused on individualism. Individualism doesn’t represent my spirituality, my belief in a collective liberation, or my understanding of wellness and wellbeing.
As a result, I wanted to remake my tarot spread, which led me to do some investigating into wellness models. Bill Hettler developed the first wellness model  in 1976 with the National Wellness Institute, see below (National Wellness Institute, 2020).
Tumblr media
The National Wellness Institute addresses wellness for working professionals. My problem with this model is that it assumes the best solution to burn-out, fatigue, or hostile work environments is focusing on self-improvement, instead of changing your material reality. Over the years, people have added on to this model, such as Dr. Peggy Swarbrick who added financial and environmental wellness to make eight domains of wellness in 2006 (Detrano, 2012). However, adding on to the original six doesn’t fix the problem.
For alternatives, I turn to the 1996 work of Jane E. Myers, Thomas J. Sweeney, and J. Melvin Witmer.
Tumblr media
What I like about this Wheel of Wellness is that it considers how the external impacts internal wellbeing. The first edition of this design had only seven spokes, but five were added in 2000 (Chi Sigma Iota, n.d.). While this wheel is more detailed than Hettler’s model, it lacks clarity. I honestly have no idea how I would make a tarot spread out of this model with all these moving pieces.
The model I’ve found most helpful is Graham Gee, Pat Dudgeon, Clinton Schultz, Amanda Hart and Kerrie Kelly’s 2013 Model of Social and Emotional Wellbeing.
Tumblr media
What I love about this model is that it is made by and for Indigenous people. Rather than being an accident, relationality is the point (Dudgeon, 2020, p. 106). This model recognizes the interconnectedness between us, our community, and the world around us. This is also the only model that considers the role of the past in wellbeing. As this model best represents my beliefs around wellbeing, this is the model I am basing my tarot spreadon. So, without further ado, my tarot spread!
Tumblr media
I made this spread as an overall check-in. However, I do think that it can be used as a shadow work spread. One day I will intentionally make a shadow work spread, but it will not be for a while.
The placement of the spread is above in the photo, and the prompts are below if anyone has trouble reading the text in the photo. There is also an alternative description of the photo if that is more helpful.
You at the moment
Connection to your country
Connection to your spirit and ancestors
Connection to your body
Connection to your mind & emotions
Connection to your family & kinship
Connection to your community
Connection to your culture
How the past is influencing the present
What is hidden to you about your wellbeing
You’re welcome to share this spread as long as you credit me. Also, if you do a reading with this spread, I’d love to know how it goes!

Some little things I've learned over a decade of witchcraft:
If you are feel called to work but are tired/drained, sit outside. Take in all the energies around you. Nature can help charge you
Every witch does a little bit of a bunch of types of magic but sticks mainly to one or two in general. You usually won't be eclectic forever. You'll find what magics work best with you.
Never be lazy or cut corners with spirits. Always be respectful and always tell them to leave when you're done
When you see a plant or ingredient with a long list of properties, there are different things at play. Season of collection, the part of the plant, the health of the plant, etc all play a role in impacting which properties it will carry.
Don't call on spirits unless you have confidence and control
Be careful with sea/water magic. Get into it gently and slowly until you have the energy figured out because it can get out of hand quickly.
Adding a little pinch of magic into your breakfast can make a major difference in your day.
Your personal emotions/feelings over something will impact a work
Planting some plants is good, not only to have a garden, but the dirt helps cleanse you too. Get all dirty and muddy. It's good for ya
Not all trees are nice
The more you listen to your intuition, the easier it will be to tell it apart from your anxieties and worries
Incense is very easy to make which is why it's usually cheap to buy. But you can find a million tutorials online on how to make your own personal incense which is great if you want a spell to take effect over a while but also want to infuse the fire energy in it.
The more you work with something the better feel you get for it. Cinnamon goes in almost everything i cook and most of my spells because me and cinnamon just get right along
Your path is yours and no one else's. It will look like yours and no one else's
