A dance never to be

The Star still illuminates the path of all, a beautiful statue guarded by its shadow. The bond they shared will forever keep them close. However the star can blind even those closest to it. The shadowed angel desperate to dance with their star can never step inside its light. like a moth drawn to the light it too will still die if it ever dares step outside its shadow.

Made the change of adding designs for Ellen and Rina

Designs for Lycaon, Rina, Corin and Ellen in a what if they became ethereals scenario

My concept behind Lycaons design was to take the idea of a werewolf transformation and make it more monstrous. Changing his fur from white to black with the ether core acting as a full moon.

My main thought for Ellen was a monstrous deep sea creature. Her tail and arms are fused together with the end flowing into the tail fin which now is the head of a pair of scissors. She doesn't have a head, her tail and the rest of her body is melted together so that if she moved you would never know exactly where she would go and that the movement itself would feel almost like a nauseating dance.

For Corin I focused more on her proportions. I wanted to make her look off balance like her clumsiness carried over even in a corrupted version of herself. Her back is cracked open forcing the rest of her body to bend forward so that she almost looks like she is constantly trying to apologize.

My idea for Rina was an iron maiden with two sets of arms. The mental image of her in a boss fight ripping the steal rods out of her chest and fighting the player with them, while her companions, now floating ether cores, acting as telecentric catalysts who gather materials around themself, which they then launch at the player just kept playing in my brain.

Anaxa

I can't say that I liked Anaxa from the beginning because I really wasn't sure how to feel about him. However after I played the main story where he and Castorice are in focus I started to actually really like him. Before I saw all of the characters in Amphoreus as 90% serious and 10% fun. After realizing that Anaxa is 80% Delusional and 20% serious and that the game is also aware of that, made me really have fun with the character. I love how the game focuses on his "I'm smarter and more logical than all of you" side making sure that you understand why nobody really wants to interact with him. The game's narrative like the characters don't really treat him with a lot or any respect. However, if anything that just enhances the fun cause they know he's right, he knows he's right and the story is in this stalemate waiting for Anaxa to do something that enrages absolutely everyone.

While I draw a lot digitally my favorite material to use is ink and I always struggle to translate what I love about ink into digital. So I drew Lycaon first analog and then edited it a bit.

Swimming with fish

Your skin writhing and moving. Something breathes inside of you but it's not your own lungs. Something pushing between your bones and flesh. You keep yourself together but this thing is eating you. You can't stop it, can't reach inside yourself and rip it out. It wears your skin, it laughs. You can feel your chest quivering. You try to drown it out, you try to freeze it in the icy waves. But it keeps moving. You tear your face apart and give it to a fish, they eat it, they keep it safe. They laugh at you. The something is still smiling. Explanation to my brain thoughts :

My drawings can be quite confusing and I want people to understand them at least a bit more. So I'm writing this explanation to both the artwork and the text. "Swimming with fish" is an idiom used to talk about a character who's dead, especially someone who was murdered. Sampo in this artwork is dead, specifically the "something" I described in the text finally ripped him open. The drawing is about him and his relationship with the fools and his failure in trying to leave his past life behind. What the colors mean Blue/Purple What keeps him together/ protected/ covered. The blue/purple is what he uses to hide himself from others; it is his costume and facade. White Bones, the body and the naked self. It's the reflection of who he is. Someone who is drained of color, someone who is hollow. Orange The something, his identity as a fool, the orange is his faith, its elation.

Meaning of the text Sampo is trying to move on from his old life. The something is his identity as a fool that, while he is trying all he can to leave it behind, is still inside of him and he can't get rid of it. It feels like a second him that just keeps laughing at him. At his pathetic attempts to get rid of who he himself is. The fish he gives his face to is Sampo giving his mask to Sparkle. (The reason why I refer to the fish by “they” and not “she” is because sparkles personality is more of a group of fish swimming chaotically around itself than one identity.) Sampo giving his mask to Sparkle is him getting rid of the visual representation of his faith, in the hopes that this way he can leave it all behind. However that's not how it works and that's what I meant with the last two sentences. “They laugh at you.” “The something is still smiling.” Sparkle is laughing at Sampos actions cause she knows it wouldn't work and his inner self smiling indicates that sampo truly did fail. In the end elation could not be contained. Who he wanted to move on from ripped him open once again

Clara

An older version of Clara A mechanic and leader of the Robot Settlement, which through the years grew to the size of a small town. The settlement is primarily inhabited by robots but also by people who ,for different reasons, don't fit into the Over - or Underworld. Clara lost her arm in a battle against a gigantic fragmentum monster that also nearly destroyed Svarog. Filled with rage and adrenaline, Clara took Svarog's arm and with the desire to protect Svarog burning in her so strong she could only feel and hear her heart hammering in her chest, fused his arm with her body. The arm morphed, assimilating to what she needed and she ripped the monster in half. Standing in snow surrounded by the mangled corpse of the creature she carried Svarog away. desperate to find help and shelter. After walking in the cold for what felt like an eternity she was finally found by silvermane guards. After her fight with the monster the mechanical arm turned back quietly awaiting her next command.

Basically how I envision the characters whenever I had any interaction with them in the penacony quest. Sunday got two designs mainly because I like to think that after the quest a few things changed about how he looks. His outfit has a lot less detail and he doesn't have his earrings anymore. In my head he didn't have time to follow his own dress rules and just threw a scarf over whatever he could find to wear. Also I love the concept that after him almost ascending his physical appearance changed, as well with one of his wings being shorter (broken and clipped from his fall) he also has feathers growing under his eyes and on his neck.
