Notes for self:
You don't belong here; you never have
Death is the end and it will be so peaceful
But
I should never have been born.
I will never forgive you for that.

Christine Jorgensen - 1953
Christine Jorgensen (1926–1989) was a transgender pioneer and one of the first widely known individuals to undergo gender-affirming surgery. Born in the Bronx as George Jorgensen Jr., she transitioned in Denmark in the early 1950s, undergoing surgery and hormone therapy. In 1952, her transition made headlines, making her an international sensation.
Jorgensen became an actress, nightclub performer, and lecturer, using her fame to advocate for transgender awareness despite societal stigma. She remained a trailblazer for transgender rights until her death from cancer in 1989, leaving a legacy of courage and visibility.
