Where Fantasy is Reality - Ch.7: The Prince and the Grinner

In a world, where everything is what it isn’t, absurdities are more than just bedtime stories. There’s a land below the surface of the world, where everything is upside down and nothing impossible. This land plays by its own, undefined rules, that are set to change at any given moment. The people there are mad but free, in their own little cage of mind. All they have to do to live, is to avoid the red palace at the crown of the hills. It’s in this place – beyond the magical planes of the world down under – where our story finds its beginning. And like many stories, this one too, starts with a chance encounter.

Day 7 of #VinShippingWeek2025 was Free choice. I'm not 100% happy with it. I am happy that I was able to put something together though.

I had to do something with Ichiji and Lucci, so that's the couple I went with here. The setting and everything are inspired by Alice in Wonderland - which is a story I liked as a child.

Where Fantasy is Reality - Ch.6: The Rescued Bride

In a world, where science is magic, old fairy tales are more than just bedtime stories. In the city of Loguetown, humans live door to door with elves and dwarfs, witches and sorcerers, centaurs and shapeshifters. They live in houses, that look just like yours and mine. They go to school and to work, they sing and dance, they laugh and cry. The only little difference is, that their science is called magic and life doesn’t just pass them by. It’s in this place, where our story finds its beginning. And like many stories, this one too, starts with a young woman in despair.

It's Day 6 of #VinShippingWeek2025 (by @germasholidaycalendar) - and today's tropes are Urban Fantasy and The Rescued Bride.

Today is for Tashigi and Reiju. I'd say this one is actually more of a retelling, and the story I chose was Der Räuberbräutigam, which is a Grimm's tale. Maybe you'll find yourself enjoying it, heed the warnings at the beginning though - it gets ugly in some parts.

Where Fantasy is Reality - Ch.5: The Night-Watch

In a world, where companionship is a birthright, heroic fantasies are more than just bedtime stories. In the region of Whole Cake, there’s a match to every heart, a song for every occasion and a beginning to every end. It’s a fairy land, full of song and cheer, and all the world knew, if you were looking to find beauty and love, you’d find it here. It’s because of this, that the collection of islands attracts thousands of visitors from far and near. Though not all of them bear noble intentions. It’s in this place – in the capital of the archipelago to be exact – where our story finds its beginning. And like many stories, this one too, starts with a man who set out to find his happiness.

For Day 5 of #VinShippingWeek2025 (by @germasholidaycalendar) - the tropes were Omegaverse & The Dangerous Night-Watch.

Ichiji and Katakuri get to make their appearance in this one. It's SFW and possibly a bit boring, but I had fun writing it.

In a world, where humanity is at the brink of extinction, myths are more than just bedtime stories. On planet earth, which has been hit by a hail of asteroids several years ago, humans are battling for survival. Caught between loss, natural disasters, shortage of resources, madness and invading alien species, there seems to be no beacon of hope left to fight for. It’s in this place, where our story finds its beginning. And like many stories, this one too, starts with an unexpected ally.

For Day 4 (god my timing is horrible) of #VinShippingWeek2025 (by @germasholidaycalendar) - the tropes were Dystopian & The Magic Ring.

I chose NijixHawkins as a pairing. I had my list of pairings that I'd like to do and the ambition not to do repeats and they fit the idea I had best.

Where Fantasy is Reality - Ch.3: The Men who Danced Themselves to Pieces

In a world, where cages are made of glass and gold, yearning is more than just material for bedtime stories. Flevance is said to be one of the most beautiful and advanced cities in the country. It’s pearly white buildings can be seen from miles away, towering over the scenic landscape like a piece of heaven. But not all that glitters is gold. Beneath the glistening facade of elegance and beauty, lies the nature of humanity, fragile and corruptible, a tightrope between undying love and abysmal hate. It’s in this place, where our story finds its stage. And like many stories, this one too, starts with a young man who is longing for more.

Day 3 (for real this time) of #VinShippingWeek2025 (by @germasholidaycalendar) - and the trope is Modern/The Danced-Out Shoes.

The 12 Dancing Princesses was my favourite Barbie movie when I was a kid, so I was happy to get to base something off of the story (even if it's only very loosely). I chose to go with LawxNiji for today, and I hope you have just as much fun reading as I had writing, even if it's rather short. (If you don't that's also okay. Just don't tell me.)

Where Fantasy is Reality - Ch.2: The Man in the Tower

In a world, where greed still rules the hearts of the masses, tales are more than just bedtime stories. There lies a forest, deep and dark on an island in one of the most deserted parts of the North Blue. It’s trees are said to be as tall as twenty houses and the animals to be as haunting as they come. No light ever reaches the earth, since the thick needles of the trees block out the sun. No one dares to wander on this godforsaken ground, too scared of what they might find and of never getting out. It’s in this place, where our story finds its beginning. And like many stories, this one too, starts with an adventurer, who is down on his luck.

Day 2 (or well, more like Day 3) of #VinShippingWeek2025 (by @germasholidaycalendar) - yesterday's tropes were Nordic and Maiden in the Tower.

For this one I went with Zoro and Yonji and I tried to freestyle something that resembles Rapunzel, though I'd say it's closer to the Disney version than to the original I heard when I was a kid.

Where Fantasy is Reality - Ch.1: The Dragon-Slayer of Conomi

In a world, where monsters are real, legends are more than just bedtime stories. The region of Conomi has been victim to viscous attacks. The perpetrator is a creature as tall as a horse, as long as a stream, as viscous as the burning midday-sun. It steals treasures and feasts on livestock, hoards the water and burns the crop. The sane don’t dare to lay their eyes on it and the reckless don’t live to tell the tale. It’s in this place – the almost deserted town of Cocoyasi to be exact – where our story finds its beginning. And like many stories, this one too, starts with a brave stranger.

Day 1 of #VinShippingWeek2025 (by @germasholidaycalendar) - given trope is Western / The Dragon Slayer.

I chose NamixSanji for this one and based the story on Der Drachentöter von Mixnitz, which is a german myth, that I didn't know of, until I started looking into some Dragon Slayer stories.

Truth is I went from mapping out my plots and characters like a maniac to just jumping right in and making notes along the way (if even).

If I want to write something longer I do like one doc where I dump everything I can think of into and that‘s it. I do research along the way if I have to.

I don’t know why I feel like that‘s unusual or improper, it‘s probably not.

It‘s just that I tended to get so stuck in mapping everything out and getting ready and figuring everything out so this thing will be perfect, that I never got around to actually writing?

Sure it might take longer the way I do it now, with just writing everything down and maybe going back in and changing things up 20 times along the way - but honestly I think that‘s better than never writing it at all.
