What's on the menu? 1. Turkish pidé dates back to the 1850s when bakers along the Black Sea started stuffing their bread before baking it. The term pidé refers to the boat-shape this Turkish style pizza comes in topped with meat, cheese and egg (but not mine). 2. Lahmacun is a thin piece of dough topped with minced meats, veggies and herbs like parsley, chili pepper and onions before baking. 3. The Agora of Smyrna, an ancient gathering place dating back to the end of the 4th century BC, is a maze of vaulted chambers and cisterns uncovered in the city of Izmir. It was destroyed in 178AD but was reconstructed under the order of Roman Emperor Marcus Aurelius. Though it's still under archaeological investigation since 1933, its already given archaeologist an idea of what this ancient marketplace would have been like in it's prime.
