There are quite a few changes. They never meet in Star Wars Rebels. Thrawn knows more about Sabine than she knows about him. However, Thrawn's loneliness, a characteristic that defined him in the Legends universe, has been reinterpreted in current canon. He appears content in his lone pursuits and has found solace in keeping himself occupied. Though he may miss his people, the Chiss, his passion for art is a priority.

In the meantime, Sabine is immersed in her own life, focusing on her passions. The Zeltron incident never happened and Sabine is an upstanding citizen.

Assuming their paths cross, what will occur when Thrawn and Sabine encounter one another? Their mutual appreciation of art suggests that it would be a missed opportunity not to explore their dynamic. If nothing occurs, that's acceptable; but if a slow-burn forbidden romance ignites between them, smoldering with the allure of forbidden love, then let the games begin.

Let’s get into a few:

Thrawn sees and analyzes Sabine’s art before ever meeting her face to face. The more he intensely analyzes her art, the more he learns about her and her emotions. He actually starts to see a little bit of himself in her and through her. That’s when he develops a crush on her and has to meet her. He also has a full dossier from her time at the Imperial Academy and is flabbergasted and angry that the Imperials let her get away.

At this time, Sabine knows quite a bit about Thrawn and may have met him long time ago. She knows he may not remember her. But her thinking is if she gets close enough she’ll maim him if not kill him. She does not have any feelings toward him other than an Imperial asshole - they all look alike in her sights. There’s this whole art show story - G-rated and Adult entertainment PG-13 and Rated R versions.

Sabine cleans up very nice. She also has etiquette. Since she learns quickly, she is able to wear sexy lingerie with 6-inch heels. She has learned things when she is with the Zeltrons as her time as a bounty hunter. She also knows how to dance and entertain guests at the Coruscant level. But that’s as far as she knows and goes. Her stint at Zeltron kept her safe, but not enslaved. She has not been penetrated. This blog buys into the Ketbine ship to a point. So Sabine knows love and had her heart broken.

At this point, the only thing that Thrawn loves and misses are the Chiss, as he is under exile. This blog buys into the ThrawnJorj ship to a point. Apparently he lost Jorj. Thrawn has a lot of traumas and his Chiss logic stuffs the pain of the trauma down away. Since he is alien, perhaps he deals with his emotions differently than humans. But he is pansexual, but practices serial monogamy. He may play with Arinhda Pryce, but she is too non-creatively emotional for his tastes.

Most women and men date to show him off for being blue as a fetishization. They do not date him because they like him, they date him because he is Chiss and is smart.

In Rebels, he is celibate to avoid the bullshit of a serious relationship. But he is profoundly lonely. When Thrawn finally meets his crush Sabine, who appears glamorous as a distraction for the Imperials, he is thoroughly amused. Her glamour is dar'manda for her, but she is convinced that is is good for the Rebel cause. Thrawn recognizes Sabine’s con game immediately, but he never reveals his hand until he has to do it. He has excellent gamesmanship.

At this time, Sabine knows exactly who Thrawn is, but she is unsure if all the rumors were true about him – basically, a stuffed shirt Imperial asshole pervert. What she discovers is that he is actually fun, and he can dance. Moreover, does he knows art. Sabine is impressed by his knowledge of art because most Imperials are pricks in her opinion. He’s cultured and attentive to her. He treats her kindly, but for how long. Then she senses his profound loneliness through the vacant red eyes and tired sadness of his voice when he discusses other activities besides art or dance. That’s when she realizes others in the Empire fetishizes him and he knows it, but she never tells him that she knows.

He'd become a fanboy of hers and hung on every word she said. Even so -she had no clue he felt that way about her- he couldn't help being excited by her creations and wanting to learn all about the craft from her.
