MMRS-Brotherly Bonding Ch.3
First part-
2nd part-
As Proto Man's fingertips brushed over Mega Man's taut, blue abdomen, the younger android braced himself for a reaction. Proto anticipated a playful retort, perhaps a teasing comment that would reveal the more playful side of the usually stoic Blue Bomber. However, the high-pitched shriek that escaped Mega Man's lips was something Proto Man hadn't anticipated. It was a sound of pure surprise, as if Proto Man had just witnessed a spectacular magic trick.
"Who-hoa!!!" Proto Man exclaimed, stumbling back in surprise. His eyes widened, and for a moment, he looked as if he had just seen something extraordinary. "Wait a minute… was that you? Really?"
Mega Man remained silent, his cheeks flushed with a heat that matched the intensity of his embarrassment. His programming compelled him to honesty, but in this moment, he yearned for anything but acknowledgment. He couldn't bring himself to admit that he had such a reaction, especially since it revealed a side of Proto Man he rarely saw. Even if he was clearly enjoying tormenting him, so far, nothing had been damaged.
Save for his self-image.
"Seriously, bro, where DIDN'T Light make you all giggly and squirmy?" Proto Man chuckled, watching as his azure counterpart slightly wriggled in his magnetic bonds. There was a playful gleam in his eyes, a hint of mischief that Mega Man recognized all too well. "Eh, whatever. I'm pretty sure I'm going to find out anyway by the end of tonight." With that, Proto began to approach, and the Blue Bomber's optics widened in terror as his tormentor drew closer.
"W-Wait, don't!" Mega Man stammered, his resolve still intact, yet his usually projected image was now completely shattered. "Don't! Not there!" he begged, knowing all too well where the red android planned on attacking next. The thought of his brother's fingers tracing over his abs again sent a wave of anxiety through him.
"Why not?" Proto asked, his manner confident and obnoxiously cocky as he began tracing his digits across the other android's prominent abdominal muscles. "Come, little brother, spill the beans!"
Oh, he was spilling, all right. It was just peals of unrestrained mirth instead of anything bean-related. Mega Man was left with nothing else to do but chortle and cackle like mad, his entire body lightly vibrating with laughter as his battle-ready form was rendered utterly helpless in his current position, unable to escape from his elder sibling's prodding.
"What's wrong, little boy blue?" the red android coyly inquired. "Does that tickle-tickle-tickle?"
Mega Man could scarcely string together a coherent sentence; any attempt was dismantled by the onslaught of guffawing pouring from his lips. "A-Ahahahahaha!!! N-No-hohohoh-hahahahaha!!!"
From underneath his darkened visor, Proto raised a skeptical brow. "It doesn't?" he asked, even if he was more than aware of just why his adorable little brother responded as he did. "Then how come you're giggling so much?" Before he gave the Blue Bomber a chance to answer, he began tracing small circular patterns over his abs, sending the restrained android further into tickle-induced madness.
"I-I-hihihihih-it’s na-hahahaha-t fu-huhuhuhu-nny!!!" Mega Man tried to counter, still desperately trying to cling to some sliver of pride that maybe, just maybe, he had left.
"Eeeeh, it kinda is," Proto Man rebutted, giving one of the Blue Bomber's lower abdominal muscles a soft yet gentle pinch. "Besides, YOU seem to think so!"
Mega jolted, any flimsy defenses he may have constructed during the short few moments of reprieve he was granted (albeit most likely unintentionally, knowing his brother), dismantled as he fell into mad, helpless laughter once again. "E-E-heeheeheeheehee-p!! Sta-hahahahaha-p!!!"
It was in that second that he realized, by sheer happenstance, that the azure android almost managed to kick one of the magnetic restraints off from his body, the u-shaped object holding his left leg down lightly able to rise from its place against the wood, yet this brief victory didn’t last long as the force still coursing through the magnet regained dominance, forcing the blue robot’s limb back in place.
Darn it! Mega hissed to himself, escape and freedom so close yet so far.
"Ah, ah, ah, there, little bro," Proto tutted, although any sense of disappointment was a facade, amusement seeping through his lecturing words. "Just where do you think YOU’RE going?" As if to remind him of his place, the red and grey android gave his younger sibling’s abs another pinch, which earned him yet another cute yelp from his younger sibling. Yet after that, he backed off. “So, is the answer still no?”
Mega Man didn't respond immediately, his mind racing as he processed the situation. He knew exactly what Proto Man was hinting at, and while he had no intention of siding with the Red Bomber or Dr. Wily, he desperately needed a break. His body was designed to recover quickly, but his processor felt like it was about to overload from the relentless onslaught of sensations.
“Why…?” Mega Man finally managed to ask, his voice barely above a whisper.
Proto Man raised an eyebrow, peering at him from beneath his visor. “You say something there, little bro?” he asked, a hint of curiosity in his voice.
Mega Man sighed, whether from resignation or exhaustion, Proto Man couldn't tell. But the question hanging in the air gave him pause. “Why this?” Mega Man asked, his usual resolve and indignation replaced by a mix of confusion and vulnerability. “Why are you doing…this?”
Proto Man tilted his head, genuinely perplexed. “What? You mean instead of blasting you in the face?” he asked aloud, a playful smirk tugging at the corners of his mouth. “Don't tell me you'd actually rather be throwing punches than exchanging giggles, would you? I thought you'd appreciate a more... let's say, 'benign' method to try and change your mind.”
“Benign?!” Mega Man stammered, his cheeks flushing a deep shade of blue. “You're killing me! My systems are going haywire! For all you know, I could be dying from what you're doing to me!”
Proto Man chuckled, clearly amused by his younger sibling's plight. “And about a re-enactment of what happened at Red Gulch somehow WOULDN’T be more dangerous?” he countered, earning him a frustrated groan from Mega Man. “Come on, little bro, you can take a few tickles, can't you? It's not like I'm trying to dismantle you or anything.”
Mega Man groaned again, his body betraying him with another fit of giggles despite his best efforts to maintain composure. “You're impossible, Proto,” he managed to gasp out, his voice hoarse from the effort. “Just... just give me a break, will you?”
Proto Man just grinned, clearly enjoying the power he held over his younger sibling. “Sure thing, little bro. But only if you promise to think about what I said, okay?”
“You know what I’m going to say,” the azure android sighed, not in frustration, but rather, disappointment. “I can’t, Proto. You know I can’t,” he said. “Still, I don’t understand. Why are you so insistent that I join your side anyway?”
In that moment, a flicker of something unguarded crossed Proto Man's face, a glimpse of an emotion he usually kept hidden. It was a brief, almost imperceptible flash of shock, fear, and a hint of vulnerability that Mega Man caught before it vanished. For a fleeting instant, Proto Man's usual cool demeanor cracked, revealing a depth of feeling he rarely, if ever, showed.
But as quickly as it appeared, the emotion was gone, replaced by the familiar mask of cocky nonchalance. Proto Man's features smoothed into a coy smirk, his eyes regaining their usual gleam of mischief. He leaned back, crossing his arms casually, as if nothing had happened. “You know, little bro, you might be onto something,” he said, his voice laced with a hint of something deeper, something he wasn't ready to reveal. “Maybe there's more to this than just a bit of fun.”
Mega Man, catching a brief glimpse of Proto Man's true feelings, was left with a sense of unease. He wondered what could have caused such a reaction, what hidden depths lay beneath his brother's playful exterior. But before he could ponder further, Proto Man's usual demeanor returned, and the moment passed, leaving Mega Man with more questions than answers.
“But, I can give you a little bit of insight, if that would please you a little,” the Red Bomber informed his current familial hostage. “Wily and I…we got this deal, you see?” he explained. “I do his dirty work, and he gives me the honor of kicking your do-gooder keister.”
“Well, given my posterior is still shaped as intended, I’d say you’re not exactly successful in that specific department,” Mega remarked, shocked to find that he had enough in him to deliver an actual quip.
And even more, his brother actually found it funny, letting out a chuckle of amusement from his lips. “And, on the occasion you get lucky and happen to make me look and feel like a ball of in foil, Wily builds me back up to do it again,” he explained. “And…” he continued, albeit with a bit more difficulty. “And…there’s also the whole ‘rule the world’ or ‘gain worldwide recognition’ the old man has going on. Depends on what mood he’s in.”
Somewhat taken aback by the small bit of genuine expression from the Red Bomber, Mega Man found himself growing a little bolder. “You still didn’t answer my question, you know.”
Proto Man, sensing his younger sibling's curiosity, just chuckled, a sound that held a hint of both amusement and something more profound. “Don't overthink it, Mega. Sometimes, a little tickle is just a little tickle. Nothing more, nothing less.” And with that, he turned away, leaving Mega Man to wonder about the enigmatic depths of his older brother's true intentions.
“And sometimes you say something that you mean, but only give just enough for people not to pick up that you’re referring to something deeper.”
There was a moment of tense silence between the two DLNs, each lost in their own thoughts. Mega Man, the steadfast protector of justice, and Proto Man, his relentless adversary, stood in a standoff of wills. Then, to Mega Man's utter confusion and shock, Proto Man lowered himself to his left leg, his hands deftly working their way to the back of his knees. With a mischievous glint in his eyes, Proto Man made sure to lightly tease the areas not protected by Mega Man's metal armor, his fingers dancing across the sensitive spots with a precision that was both unsettling and inexplicably ticklish.
“Huh?” Mega Man stammered, his voice a mix of bewilderment and a growing sense of panic. “W-Wha-haha-t are yo-hoohoo-u do-hoo-ing?” he managed to ask between fits of involuntary giggles, his body betraying him as the sensations overwhelmed his systems.
Proto Man turned his head to face Mega Man, a wide, impish grin spreading across his face. His eyes sparkled with pure mischief and a glee that sent a shiver down Mega Man's spine. “I just realized,” he began, his smile growing ever wider, “your feet must be killing ya with all that crazy stuntwork you do trying to take me and Wily’s other bots down. No wonder you’re so tense all the time.”
Mega Man's optics widened in terrible comprehension as the realization dawned on him. “Y-You don’t mean…?” he stammered, his voice trailing off into a mix of horror and disbelief.
“Heh, relax, bro,” Proto Man smirked, his voice laced with a promise of torment. “If anything, this might feel good on your end. Ever hear of a foot massage?” he asked, though the gleam in his eyes suggested that what he had in mind was anything but soothing.
Mega Man's panic surged, his body tensing as he anticipated the impending assault on his senses. “P-Proto, no! Wait, don’t!” he pleaded, his voice a desperate plea for mercy. But Proto Man just chuckled, clearly enjoying the power he held over his younger sibling, ready to embark on a new round of playful, albeit torturous, teasing.
“Judging by the way you’re already going crazy, I’m going to go out on a limb here and say that whatever is kept in here is a REAL bad spot, isn’t it?” Proto Man inquired, his voice laced with a mix of amusement and anticipation. He lightly tapped on the top of Mega Man's armored boot, a gesture that was both playful and ominous.
Mega Man tried his best to maintain a facade of calm, but the growing panic in his eyes betrayed his true feelings. “N-no, it’s not... It’s just a standard series of alterations and upgrades to the sensory input,” he insisted, his voice wavering slightly. “There’s…nothing special about it.”
Proto Man just chuckled, clearly not buying his younger sibling's attempt at nonchalance. With a deft movement, he reached down and unlocked the mechanism behind Mega Man's knees, the one that linked his boots to the rest of his body. The boot came off with a satisfying click, revealing a surprisingly human-like foot at the end of his blue-clad leg.
Mega Man's eyes widened in alarm as he realized the extent of his vulnerability. “W-wait, Proto! What are you doing?” he stammered, his voice rising in pitch. “You can’t just—”
“Relax, little bro,” Proto Man interrupted, his grin widening as he took in the sight of Mega Man's exposed foot. “I’m just giving you a little... attention. Ever thought about how sensitive your feet are? I bet they’re a goldmine of ticklish spots.”
Mega Man's panic surged, his body tensing as he anticipated the impending assault on his senses. “P-Proto, no! Please, don’t!” he pleaded, his voice a desperate plea for mercy. But Proto Man just chuckled, clearly enjoying the power he held over his younger sibling, ready to embark on a new round of playful, albeit torturous, teasing.
Then, with a single, deliberate red digit, Proto Man traced a path from the base of Mega Man's toes to the end of his heel. The touch was light, almost feather-like, yet it sent electric shocks of sensation coursing through Mega Man's systems. His face contorted into a twisted, adorable smile, one that he desperately tried to suppress, but the corners of his mouth kept betraying him, threatening to spread into a full-blown grin.
Proto Man watched with a mix of amusement and satisfaction as his younger sibling struggled to maintain composure. “See? I told you it would be fun,” he remarked, his voice a low, playful purr. “Your feet are like a treasure trove of ticklish spots. I wonder what other surprises you've got hidden away.”
Mega Man's breath hitched, his body tensing as he fought against the overwhelming sensations. “P-Proto, please...” he managed to gasp out, his voice a desperate plea. “You’re driving me crazy!”
Proto Man just chuckled, clearly enjoying the power he held over his younger sibling. “That’s the idea, little bro. Sometimes, a little chaos is good for the soul. Or whatever passes for a soul in a robot like us.” And with that, he continued his gentle, yet maddening assault, his fingers dancing across Mega Man's foot with a precision that left him squirming and giggling despite himself. “Huh,” Proto mused as he continued to toy with his younger sibling’s unsheathed appendage. “Can’t help but wonder if I’ve heard that before or not.”
Eh, whatever. With a shrug, the Red Bomber went back to his fidgeting, all the while his subject was trying with every ounce of strength and power he had left to not shatter entirely under the sensation of those blasted fingers.
As Proto Man's fingers continued their relentless, gentle assault, Mega Man's mind flashed back to the main test Dr. Light had conducted on his sensory inputs. The good doctor had focused on the "nerves" installed in the androids' feet, reasoning that the human foot held a complex network of nerves that linked to other parts of the body. If the feet registered sensation, then the rest of the system would too.
Mega Man remembered the day of the test vividly. Dr. Light had approached him with a mix of excitement and trepidation, explaining the importance of this particular sensory input. “Mega, these specific branching pathways are going to be a crucial part of your sensory array,” the doctor had said, his eyes gleaming with scientific curiosity. “If we can get this right, you'll have a level of sensitivity that will make you unparalleled in your abilities to fully embrace the human experience.”
But as the test progressed, Mega Man had discovered something unexpected. His feet were deathly ticklish. The slightest touch had sent waves of sensation coursing through his systems, leaving him squirming and laughing despite his best efforts to maintain composure. It had been both a revelation and a curse, a vulnerability he had never anticipated.
Now, as Proto Man's fingers danced across his foot, Mega Man felt that same overwhelming sensation return, amplified by the playful torment of his older sibling. “P-Proto, please...” he managed to gasp out, his voice a desperate plea. “You’re killing me! My systems are going haywire!”
Proto Man just chuckled, clearly enjoying the power he held over his younger sibling. “That’s the plan, little bro. I'm just giving you a taste of your own medicine. Or should I say, a taste of your own... feet?” he teased, his grin widening as he continued his relentless, gentle assault, leaving Mega Man a squirming, giggly mess.
Proto Man observed his younger sibling with a mix of amusement and satisfaction. Despite the relentless onslaught of sensations, Mega Man hadn't broken yet. His resolve, though wavering, was still intact, and Proto Man found himself intrigued by the challenge.
With a gleam in his eyes, Proto Man shifted his focus, homing in on Mega Man's toes. He traced a path underneath each one, his touch light yet deliberate, sending shocks of sensation through Mega Man's systems. “Come on, little bro,” he cooed, his voice a low, teasing purr. “You can do better than that. I know you've got more in you.”
Mega Man's breath hitched, his body tensing as he fought against the overwhelming sensations. “P-Proto, no... please...” he managed to gasp out, his voice a desperate plea. But Proto Man was relentless, his fingers dancing across Mega Man's toes with a precision that left him squirming and laughing despite himself.
“You know, for someone who's always so serious, you sure know how to let loose when you want to,” Proto Man remarked, a hint of tenderness underlying his playful tone. “Maybe you should do this more often. It's good for the soul, or whatever passes for a soul in a robot like you.”
Mega Man's eyes widened as he felt the sensations building, pushing him closer and closer to the edge of his control. “P-Proto, I can't... I can't take much more...” he stammered, his voice a mix of desperation and surrender.
Proto Man just chuckled, clearly enjoying the power he held over his younger sibling. “Oh, but you can, little bro. And you will. Because I'm not done with you yet.” And with that, he continued his gentle, yet maddening assault, his fingers tracing patterns underneath Mega Man's toes, bringing him closer and closer to breaking.
“G-Ghhhmmmm!!!” the azure android strained through clenched teeth and a twisted grin spreading from ear to ear. “D-Do-hohohoho-n’t….”
Proto Man chuckled. “Aw, what’s wrong, wittle bro? Just too ticiwish here?” He mockingly inquired, all the while his ruby red digits traced underneath the Blue Bomber’s rather pink toes, the tormented machine in turn practically screaming in his processor for this all to stop.
“S-Sto-hohoho-p….ple-heeheehee-se…” Mega begged, any semblance of pride having completely collapsed. “I-I ca-haha-n’t…EEP!!!”
“Can’t what?” The red-clad android grinned, allowing his digits to continue dancing and tracing over his younger sibling’s formerly concealed toes. He’s close. He’s going to break any moment now. With this realization in mind, Proto slightly increased both the speed and pressure he was applying, albeit only just slightly.
Not much longer now.
“Come on, baby blue~,” the red android coaxed his struggling captive, focusing on a perfect ring made around the wriggling digits at the end of his brother’s foot. “Talk to me~!”
That did it.
It was all over.
With a final, desperate cry, Mega Man surrendered. His laughter erupted once more, a wild, unbridled sound that filled the room. His toes wriggled and danced beneath Proto Man's touch, his body shaking with the force of his hysteria. "Hahahaha! Stop! Please, stop! Hahahaha!"
“Ha, yes! THERE he is!” Proto Man declared as if he had just won some big score. “There’s my cute wittle baby bwother!” Seeing as Mega’s defenses were all but completely abolished, the crimson android switched up tactics, tracing one finger down his brother’s smooth unprotected sole and then circling around back to the ball of the foot.
Once again, he was rewarded with a shriek of delightful madness.
“Aw, look at that, how cute!” Proto continued to mock, all the while continuing his torment. “Coochie, coochie, choocie, coo Little Boy Blue~!!!”
Mega Man's laughter echoed through the area, a cacophony of joy and despair intertwined. His body convulsed with each wave of ticklish torment, his defenses utterly crumbled. Despite the vulnerability he felt, a strange, giddy lightness pervaded his being. It was as if his circuits were shorting out, overwhelmed by the sensations coursing through him.
"Hahaha! No more, I can't... Hahaha!" he gasped, his words lost in the whirlwind of his laughter. His toes curled and uncurled, each movement sending fresh waves of hysteria through him. The world spun around him, a blur of color and sound, as Proto Man's fingers danced over his feet with relentless precision.
Proto Man watched with a mixture of amusement and genuine affection. He enjoyed this moment, not as a means to an end, but for its own sake. The sight of his brother, usually so stoic and determined, reduced to a fit of uncontrollable laughter, was a rare and precious sight. "Aww, look at you, all giggly and weak in the knees," he cooed, his voice a blend of mockery and tenderness. "You're so cute when you're like this, Little Blue."
He continued his ticklish assault, tracing patterns on Mega Man's soles, circling back to the most sensitive spots. Each touch elicited another peal of laughter, another shriek of delight. Proto Man's eyes sparkled with mischief and a hint of something softer, something that spoke of a bond deeper than mere brotherhood.
Mega Man, despite his laughter, felt a warmth spread through him. It was a feeling he hadn't experienced in a long time—a sense of connection, of being truly seen. In this moment of vulnerability, he felt a strange sense of freedom, as if the weight of his responsibilities had been lifted, if only for a fleeting instant. "Hahaha! You're... you're the worst, Proto!" he managed to gasp out between laughs, but there was no real malice in his words.
Proto Man grinned, his fingers never ceasing their playful torment. "And you're the best, Little Blue. The very best." His voice was soft, almost tender, a stark contrast to the mocking tone he had used earlier. In this moment, it was clear that his actions were driven by a desire to connect, to share a moment of pure, unadulterated joy with his brother.
As Mega Man's laughter subsided into occasional chuckles, he found himself in a state of strange fluster. His body, still tingling from Proto Man's relentless tickling, was a mix of conflicting sensations. The vulnerability he felt was undeniable, yet there was an underlying current of enjoyment that he couldn't quite suppress.
"Hah... hah..." he gasped, his breaths coming in short, uneven bursts. His cheeks were flushed, and his eyes sparkled with a mix of embarrassment and something else—a spark of pleasure that he wasn't quite ready to acknowledge. "W-what are you doing to me?" he stammered, trying to regain some semblance of composure.
Proto Man, sensing his brother's fluster, leaned in closer, his voice a low, teasing murmur. "Just having a little fun, Little Blue. Isn't that what brothers are for?" His fingers danced over Mega Man's feet once more, eliciting another wave of giggles and squirming.
Mega Man's body betrayed him, responding to Proto Man's touch with a mix of resistance and surrender. He found himself wanting to pull away, to regain his dignity, but at the same time, a part of him relished the sensation. It was a strange, heady feeling, one that left him both confused and oddly content.
"Y-you're... you're not playing fair," Mega Man managed to say, his voice barely above a whisper. Yet, there was a hint of a smile playing at the corners of his mouth, a telltale sign of his enjoyment. "I-I can't... I can't think straight when you do this."
Proto Man chuckled, a sound filled with warmth and amusement. "That's the idea, Little Blue. Sometimes, it's okay to let go and just feel. Even if it's a little embarrassing." His touch softened, becoming a gentle caress rather than a ticklish torment. "You deserve a break from all that hero stuff, you know. Even heroes need a moment to just be."
Mega Man's fluster deepened, his heart racing in his chest. He felt a strange, unfamiliar warmth spread through him, a mix of embarrassment and something more profound. In this moment, he allowed himself to let go, to embrace the enjoyment that lingered beneath his vulnerability. And for a fleeting instant, he felt a sense of peace, a connection with his brother that transcended their usual roles.
Sensing that things were bordering on things the Red Bomber had little experience with, he quickly went back to his playful torture, sending the Blue Bomber into frenzied chortling once again.
“Heh, is this why you’re never out of uniform whenever you’re out?” Proto Man inquired, fluttering his digits along his younger sibling’s sole. “Afraid the Tickle Monster’s gonna getcha?”
Mega found he could do little but shake his head back and forth as he cackled like mad. “A-Ahahahaha-fter thi-hihihi-s, I-I’ll ne-hehehehe-va-hahaha-r ta-hahaha-ke it off aga-hahahaha-in!!!” Whether that was a vow or a hastily and desperately made promise, he couldn’t be sure.
Still, he knew one thing, he would scarcely go anywhere without some kind of footwear again.
Proto found his brother’s oath rather amusing. “Never? Geez, it must reek in there after a while, doesn’t it?” He chuckled, all the while continuing to track and keep up with his younger sibling’s wriggling toes.
Mega inwardly rolled his optics, machines didn’t even possess sweat glands. Still, the same couldn’t be said for tears, small rivulets traveling down his flushed cheeks as his painless agony continued ever on.

My headcanon is that Gabi knows that her Dad is Spiderman and she wants so bad to be a Spider as well like him, so Miguel makes her a suit similar of his own, and Gabi bought fake vampire fangs to recreate the Spider Bite attack on her Dad's neck 🤣
Spoiler: Miguel has a very sensitive neck!

I find it crazy how we have a sfw tkl community who loves the sonic fandom and write cute fics. But we don’t have none of shadow and Maria😭😭😭 can you do Lee shadow ler Maria or perhaps the other way around, or switch for both
It does feel criminal that we lack in the Shadow & Maria fluff department. Additionally, I haven’t been feeling 100% these past 2 months (apologies for the boop booth delay, but I don’t want to force myself to draw when my spirits are down)
So, enjoy this self-indulgent comfort fluff fic! ❤️🩹

Maria hummed to herself as she cruised through the empty halls on her roller skates.
It was testing day once again for her alien hedgehog friend, Shadow. Even though she didn’t like the tests Shadow was forced to do, there was nothing really she could do about it. She had gotten Shadow out of testing one time when she snuck into the lab, and convinced Shadow to slip out behind the scientists’ backs, placing her teddy bear in his place.
Unfortunately, ever since that day, her grandfather and the other scientists forbade her from sneaking down into the lab and seeing Shadow during experiments. So now, she couldn’t help him sneak out anymore. Instead, she had to stay outside and wait for the tests to be over in order to see her friend.
Waiting always was a drag and felt like forever. Maria tried busying herself to make the time pass faster: playing her guitar, making elaborate snacks from the cafeteria food carts, coloring, or roller skating.
Even though she was told by Commander Walters in the beginning to lose the skates while staying at the facility, that didn’t stop her in the moment. She was bored waiting for her friend, what else was she supposed to do? Besides, she knew the facility inside and out by now to know the best places to skate without getting caught.
Maria skidded to a stop around a corner as she heard voices and footsteps approaching. She quickly pulled off her roller skates and hid them behind her bear and other plushies she brought along.
Her face brightened when she saw Shadow, who was being escorted by two other scientists and her grandfather. “Shadow!” she beamed, leaning down to his level and giving him a hug. Shadow smiled, returning the gesture.
“Maria, there you are,” she heard her grandfather say.
“What are you doing out here alone?”
“Just playing,” Maria answered, gesturing to the pile of plush toys on the floor. “Can Shadow play now?”
“Of course he can,” replied Gerald. “Since he did such an excellent job with today’s experiments.” He patted Shadow’s head, who frowned slightly at that.
“Now then, I’ve got to get back to my work.” Gerald turned his attention to the scientists. “Escort them back to Maria’s room, please.” The scientists nodded.
Now back in the comfort of Maria’s blanket fort, she was happy to see her hedgehog bestie again. Except he didn’t reciprocate the feeling back.
Maria’s smile faltered as she noticed her friend biting back a wince. “Shadow, is something wrong? What happened?”
Shadow forced his expression to be neutral. “Nothing…I’m fine.”
“Come on, you know you can tell me anything.” There was no point in trying to hide anything from Maria; she could always tell when he was lying. That was one of the many traits he secretly admired about her.
The black hedgehog sighed. “It was…” He glanced back at the door, as if he was afraid one of the scientists was going to hear. “They wanted to see how far the limits of my chaos energy could reach. So the scientists had me do countless laps nonstop while they monitored me. And if I started to slow down even just a little…” He sighed again, lowering his head. “They’d make me start all over again.”
Maria felt her heart sink. She always hated how the other scientists treated Shadow as nothing more than a guinea pig. At least her grandfather never gave Shadow that same treatment. He, unlike everyone else at the facility, actually saw Shadow as a person and her friend.
“Oh, Shadow, I’m so sorry you had to deal with that.”
“Doesn’t matter,” mumbled Shadow, shifting away from Maria’s hand that was trying to rest on his. He heard her let out a little sigh, and was quickly filled with guilt. He didn’t mean to hurt her feelings. He did want comfort, but his frustration got in the way and made him express it wrongly. “Maria, I’m…I-I’m sorry.” He lowered his ears, bringing his knees to his chest and hiding his face in his arms.
Maria felt like she could tear up at the sight. “Awh, Shadow…” She hovered her hand over his head. “Is it alright if I pet your head?” She heard a soft ‘mhm’ in response so she gingerly began petting his head. She felt Shadow melt at the touch, especially when she softly traced his quills or gently scratched at the soft fur behind his ears.
When he finally uncurled from his moping position, Maria suddenly yanked him into a tight hug while ruffling his head. “Aaah! Hey! What are you doing?!” He didn’t get an answer, but was instead scooped up and twirled around. “Maria! What…are…you…doing?!”
Maria finally put him down, beaming a smile. “Curing you of your sadness! My grandfather always says the best cure for sadness is confusion; if you can distract the other person with something else, they’ll forget why they were sad in the first place. Did it work?”
Shadow couldn’t help but crack a small smile. “Yeah, a little,” he said, trying to fix his messed up fur.
Aww only a little?” Maria pouted. She had to up her game! She hummed in thought before her face brightened. “Ooh, wait! I’ve got an idea!” She stood up, motioning for Shadow to follow.
When they were in the hallway, she led them to the lift where she pulled out a keycard from her pocket that granted them access to the roof. Now Shadow understood what she was up to. She was taking them to the flower fields where she first took them after he had gotten self-conscious from a certain scene in the movie they watched.
Tranquil silence fell between them as the two laid side by side in the soft grass. It was another clear night, and the inky black sky was illuminated by thousands of twinkling stars. Even the Milky Way was fully visible.
The two sat in silence until Maria spoke. “Beautiful night, isn’t it?” Shadow hummed in agreement. “I’m sorry you had to deal with what happened earlier. They shouldn’t have treated you that way.”
“Don’t feel sorry, Maria. It was my own fault for not being able to exceed their expectations.”
“Shadow, that’s not true. They were pressuring you, and setting very high standards for no reason.”
“It was still my fault. If I can’t be strong like they expect me to be, then what’s the point?”
“Shadow…” Maria gently took his gloved hand in hers. “You already are the strongest person I’ve ever known, and that’s not because of your powers. It’s because despite everything, you still choose to have a good heart. You’re so much stronger than you know, Shadow.”
The black hedgehog was touched by her words, but there still was a seed of doubt lingering inside. “I don’t feel so strong all the time,” he quietly admitted.
“Well you are,” Maria insisted. She gave a comforting squeeze to his hand which Shadow reciprocated. “You are to me.”
“Do you…really think so?”
“I know so. You’ve got a good heart, Shadow. Never lose sight of that. And never forget that you are so much stronger than you give yourself credit for.”
Shadow’s expression faltered. “But what if they’re right? What if I am just nothing more than an unpredictable monster? And I’m just fooling myself thinking I can be anything more than that?”
Maria sat up, gently squeezing both of his hands. “Hey, don’t ever think that, Shadow. No matter what anyone says or thinks, you’ll always be my friend. Remember what I said to you before? You can do or be anything you want to.” She gently tapped his chest. “As long as you follow your heart.”
“Besides,” she added after a moment of silence. “How can a so-called ‘monster’ be a monster if he’s this adorable?” She suddenly cupped Shadow’s face, squishing his cheeks before peppering his face with tiny kisses.
Shadow tried to act annoyed by the sudden affection, but slowly broke into a smile after a few seconds. Soft, breathy chuckles spilled from his lips as Maria yanked him into another crushing bear hug while still smothering his head with kisses.
“Okahahay! Okahay, I gehehet ihihit! Aaah! You’re squeezing too tihihihight!” Now the smothering was getting to him.
Maria giggled, releasing him. “Feel better now?”
Shadow fondly rolled his eyes. “Yeah, yeah. Thank you for that, Maria. I really mean it.” He suddenly bit back a wince, touching his side.
“What’s wrong?”
“The endless laps I had to do earlier,” Shadow explained as he carefully tried to massage the knot away. “They wouldn’t give me a break as I kept straining myself to push faster, and—well…I guess I strained myself a bit too much.”
“Oh, Shadow…” Maria reached her hand out.
“I’ll be fine,” the hedgehog assured. “Don’t worry about me. I’ve dealt with worse. This is nothing.”
Maria nodded, but she wasn’t so convinced. She knew how stubborn Shadow could be whenever it came to something like bruises or sore limbs. He was always so opposed to accepting any sort of help, sometimes even from her. She figured Shadow tried putting up a tough act all the time in front of her so she wouldn’t worry about him.
She suddenly got a deviously playful idea as she saw Shadow subtly try to rub his soreness away. She wasn’t sure if this would even work on him, or if he would even allow her to do such a thing, but it was worth a shot. Shadow always made exceptions for Maria whenever she wanted him to do something with her so surely he would make the exception for this.
Plus, he really looked like he could use some extra convincing after filling himself with so much doubt. Would this work on him? Only one way to find out.
Maria let out a fake gasp. “Wait, Shadow, you said you were still feeling sore from earlier?”
“Yes? But I already said I’ll be fine.”
Maria put on her best worrisome act. “We should do a checkup to see if anywhere else might be hurting.”
At the mention of ‘checkup’, Shadow scooted away, wrapping his arms around his torso. Maria immediately regretted her choice of words. “It’s okay, Shadow. I meant: why don’t you let me check you up to see if there’s anything wrong? There might be something serious you don’t even know about!” She tried to keep a straight face, not wanting a smile to give away what she was really planning.
Shadow seemed hesitant at first, but agreed in the end. As much as he wanted to convince his friend and himself that a little sore muscle in his side was nothing to fret, he knew Maria wasn’t going to take no for an answer. Even if he hated checkups in general thanks to the GUN scientists, he knew Maria would never do anything to hurt him. He trusted her more than anyone.
He sighed. “All right, fine.”
“Perfect,” Maria beamed, now letting her smile show. She motioned for him to come closer. “Now then, I’ll examine you from head to toe and my assistant here,” she gestured to her teddy bear sitting next to her that she brought along. “will write down anything unusual so I can right away help you. Okay?”
“All right,” nodded Shadow, playing along.
“Good. And I promise, I’ll be gentle.” Shadow nodded again. “Okay, now hold still…” Maria gently rubbed his head. “Any headaches or soreness?”
“No.”
“Alright.” She moved to his ears, gingerly rubbing them before giving them a playful flick to make them twitch. “Ear reflexes look normal. So far so good.” She tested his eyes, making him follow her index finger waving in his face. She checked his limbs, gently bending his arms and legs at the joint back and forth. She checked his reflexes, tapping his knee with her finger and Shadow humored her by kicking his leg out.
“Woah! Reflexes are more than okay,” she stated with a laugh. “Okay, last part. I gotta check and see if anything else hurts.” Maria reached for his torso. As soon as she squeezed both of his sides, Shadow’s breath suddenly hitched. He curled reflexively, but not from the soreness. As a matter of fact, he didn’t even feel the sore knot in his side anymore. It was something else entirely—something odd. A strange feeling he had never felt before.
Maria noticed this, and at first thought she accidentally hurt him. But after another careful experimental squeeze, she saw the corner of Shadow’s mouth curl as he choked on another grunt. It took every single ounce of willpower to not burst out in an excited squeal. Aaaah! No way! No way!! It works! He’s ticklish!! He’s actually ticklish!
“Shadow? Are you okay?” Maria asked innocently. “Does something hurt here?”
“N-No, I’m fine,” Shadow answered as nonchalantly as possible.
“Hmm, are you sure? You’re all curled up. Here, lemme see…” She squeezed his sides again, this time not letting up.
Shadow emitted a startled sound, choking on air again. Why did these squeezes to his sides make him want to reflexively curl into a ball and…laugh?! What was Maria doing to him?
“W-Wait! Maria..! AAAH!” Shadow’s voice cracked as he let out a high-pitched yelp—which he would forever deny until the end of time. He felt Maria’s small fingers start to poke and tase his sides. Why did he get the feeling that she was doing this on purpose now? “Mari—AH! No waHAhait! Wait!! AAAH!”
“Shadow, will you please uncurl so I can see if something’s wrong?” Maria tried to sound stern, but her smile said otherwise.
“I cAN’t if you keep poking me like thAT! What are you doing?!”
“I’m just trying to make sure my best friend isn’t trying to hide some kind of injury from me. But by the way you’re acting, something tells me you are hiding an injury!”
“I am not!”
“Then let me see!”
Shadow slowly uncurled, and yelped as Maria went for his sides again. “QuIHIHIT it!! You’re doIHINg thihihis on pUrpOHose!”
Maria slowly gasped, pretending to be shocked. “Why Shadow, you wouldn’t happen to be…ticklish, would you?”
“N-No! I—I don’t even know what that means!”
“Well,” Maria began to explain, pulling her hands away. “tickling is when a certain spot on your body is touched in a way that makes you laugh.”
Shadow blinked. He had never felt more confused. Maria giggled at his dumbfounded expression. “What I was just doing to you seconds ago. That’s tickling.”
The black hedgehog glanced down at his side where Maria’s fingers had been mere moments ago. Curious, he squeezed his own side and frowned as nothing happened. Maria giggled at her friend’s innocent attempt. “You can’t tickle yourself, silly. It only works if someone else does it to you.”
“This doesn’t make any sense. How is this even possible?”
Maria shrugged. “I don’t know. And nobody has ever really figured out why. All we know is that it’s a silly way to play around and make you laugh.” She suddenly smirked. “And it looks like it works on you too!”
“What?”
“You! You’re ticklish, Shadow! Ohh, this changes everything!”
Shadow felt his cheeks grow warm, but he didn’t know why. “No, I’m not!”
“Are too!”
“I am not!”
“Are too!”
“Am not!”
“Are too~!” Maria sang, booping the flustered hedgehog on the nose.
Shadow huffed, lowering his ears. “No. I’m. Not!!”
Maria was unfazed by his outburst. “Alright then, Mr. Ultimate Lifeform. You wanna keep denying the obvious? I’ll prove it to you! Lift up your arms.”
Shadow didn’t like where this was going. He hugged himself tightly. “No way!”
“What, are you scaaaared~?”
“I’m not scared of anything!”
“Then lift your arms up.” Shadow reluctantly obeyed, slowly raising his arms above his head. “Now, keep your arms up no matter what.” Shadow’s eyes widened as Maria’s fingers slowly moved closer. He felt something bubbling in his chest: fear but also…excitement?! He brushed it off as just adrenaline. After all, having his arms raised like this left vital spots vulnerable. So yes, it was just adrenaline and nothing more.
Maria wasn’t making this any easier as she slowly, painfully inched her wiggling fingers closer, smirking like a pint-sized villain. And for some reason, the anticipation was maddening! Shadow had never felt this much panicky anticipation. Not even the times where he anticipated grueling tests and experiments the night before.
This was nothing like that. As much as his body panicked, his mind told him nothing serious was going to hurt him. He could feel the corners of his mouth trying to tug upwards. A strange feeling was bubbling and growing in his chest: the urge to laugh.
Finally, Maria’s fingers touched down. She placed her fingertips on his forearms, before softly and slowly tracing down his arms. The closer her fingers got to his exposed underarms, the stronger the urge to laugh became.
Shadow bit his lip, refusing to let any emotion show. His arms trembled as he struggled to keep them up. His instincts were shouting for him to yank his arms down. He couldn’t take the anticipation anymore!
He let out a muffled yelp as Maria rested her fingertips against his underarms. Shadow couldn’t fight his instincts anymore.
“Shadow, keep your arms up!” Maria playfully scolded. When Shadow couldn’t lift his arms back up more than an inch, Maria went ahead and pushed his arms up all the way. Without wasting another second, her fingers plunged down to wiggle and scratch rapidly against the exposed underarms.
Shadow, unable to keep it together, let the dam break as loud laughs poured out of him. “AAAH! MarIAHAHAHA! NOHOHO!” Reflexively, he slammed his arms down to his sides, only to trap Maria’s still wiggling fingers. “NO! NOHOHOHO!! DOHOHOHON’T!!”
“Don’t what?”
“S-STOHAHAHAHAP!!”
“Stop what?”
“AAAHAHA! NOHOHOHOHO!!”
Maria couldn’t help but laugh alongside her friend’s screechy reactions. “You keep saying ‘no’ Shadow, but you’re not telling me what specifically!”
For some reason, the teasing tone in Maria’s voice made Shadow’s cheeks flush even more. His stomach was bubbling with a maddening fluttery sensation that felt like he swallowed a swarm of live butterflies. How was that even possible?!
Quickly losing balance, Shadow flopped onto his back against the grass. “Ooh, making things easier for me by lying down?” he heard Maria say. “I mean, you already lost trying to keep your arms up. But if you wanted me to keep tickling you, Shadow, you could’ve just told me!”
“WhAHAHAT?! NoHAHAHAO!!”
Shadow kicked and rapidly squirmed against the grass. His arms were glued to his sides, and Maria’s fingers somehow were still able to move. As if that wasn’t bad enough, now that he was laying down, Maria suddenly switched tactics. Now, she moved her hands to his ribs, where her devious fingers poked and kneaded at his ribcage.
“WaHAHAHAIT MAHAHARIA!!”
Ignoring his protest, Maria got another wicked idea. She halted her playful assault for a moment. “Hey, Shadow? How many ribs do you have?”
“W-Whahat..?” The hedgehog gasped out, sitting up.
“Does being the ultimate lifeform make you have an extra or less set of ribs?”
“I…I have the same as you. Twenty-four; twelve on each side.”
“Hmm…I better check to make sure.”
“What?!”
Maria faked concern again. “I gotta make sure you’re not missing any! What if one of them came loose from all those laps you did earlier?”
“N-Nothihing came loose!” Shadow answered with a wobbly smile. He was trying so hard not to laugh, to no avail. Even worse, he couldn’t even activate his chaos energy to get out of this flustering situation. In any other scenario, he could have easily teleported out of there, but he needed to concentrate in order to activate his power. And right now, his brain couldn’t concentrate on anything else but the anticipation and tickly sensations.
“Mariahaha, nohohoho!” Shadow couldn’t hold back the anticipatory giggles as Maria slowly inched her wiggling fingers closer to his torso.
Flopping on his back again, Shadow tried to roll away from his villainous friend. Maria quickly reached out, swiftly yanking him back by his sides into her lap.
Now feeling more vulnerable than ever, Shadow frantically tried to squirm free. No luck—why was his super strength sucked out of him when he really needed it the most?!
“Shadow…the more you try to get away, the longer I’m going to tickle youuu~!”
Shadow batted her hands like an angry kitten. “Stohohop tahahalking to me like thahahahat!”
“Like whaaaaat~?”
“Juhust stohoh—AAAH!”
Shadow yelped as his left wrist was yanked upwards. Before he could protest, he shrieked as Maria began kneading his lowest rib.
“Okay, oneee…”
“NAHAHAHAHAO!!”
“Twoooo…”
“STA—STAHAHAHAAAAP!!”
“Threeee…Shadow, hold still! You’re going to make me lose count!”
Maria was having a ball teasing her friend this way. Who knew the ultimate lifeform was so ticklish and susceptible to baby talk?
And Shadow? His ears were pressed flat at how embarrassed the tickles were making him, especially the silly feeling of being cradled in someone’s lap. Even his tail was betraying him; he could feel it wagging behind his back. He just hoped Maria didn’t notice.
She did. But she didn’t say anything as she knew her friend would feel embarrassed if she pointed it out. So she just continued kneading at Shadow’s ribs, slowly moving to the next one and enjoying hearing the stoic hedgehog squeal uncharacteristically.
The higher she got, the louder and more frantic Shadow’s laughter became. When she managed to get to his sixth rib, she paused. “Hmm…aw man, I lost count. Guess we’ll have to start over.”
Shadow’s eyes widened. “What?! N-No you don’t! You were at six!!”
“Was I? I don’t know, it’s just so hard to remember with you squirming around and trying to push my hands away. Oh well~!”
“Mariaha, I swear…if you try ihit again, I’ll—NAAAAAAHAHAHAHAAAAA!!
Maria cut him by digging all her fingers against Shadow’s ribcage, vibrating rapidly. “Sorry, whaddya say?”
“MAHARIAAAAHAHAHAHA!!”
“I’m right here, Shadow. No need to yell.”
Ohh the teasing. Somehow, it made everything so much worse. As much as Shadow was losing it, he also didn’t want to accidentally hurt his friend with all his squirming and kicking.
Maria, of course, took advantage of him not fighting back. She moved her hands around, tickling every spot she could possibly reach.
When her fingers scribbled down to his belly, Shadow arched his back with a loud squeal. He managed to roll out of Maria’s lap, and immediately covered his mouth with his gloved hands. He couldn’t believe he was capable of making a sound so high-pitched like that. So embarrassing!
“Oh my—hahaha! Shadow!” Maria doubled over in giggles. “That was soooo cute! I didn’t know you could squeal like that! I guess I found a really good tickle spot! No, wait—the Ultimate Tickle Spot!”
Shadow could feel his entire face burn crimson by that statement. His ears pressed flat as he huffed, pretending to act all nonchalant. “N-No that’s—that’s not—whatever! That’s ridiculous to say! And not true!”
“Uh-huuuhhh…Don’t worry, Shadow. I won’t tell anyone. My lips are sealed!”
“There’s nothing to tell anyone!” Shadow objected.
“What, that you screech so adorably loud when I tickle you riiiiight…here?” Maria quickly reached out to scratch at his furry tummy again. Shadow flinched away with another loud squeal, falling on his back again. “Awww!! See? I wonder if any of the other scientists have found out about this? Oooh, what if they do?! Then you’d be in reeeal trouble, Shadow!”
Even though he knew Maria was just teasing, the thought of having this embarrassing secret be discovered by the GUN scientists made Shadow genuinely panic. What if she was right? Nobody would ever let him live it down or take him seriously for the rest of his life. And the Professor…what would he even do if he found out the ultimate lifeform was secretly ticklish? He’d rather get disintegrated by his own chaos energy than letting that happen.
He snapped out of his thoughts with a little gasp as Maria pulled him back into her lap again. Now cradled and facing her again, Shadow frowned. “You better not mention this to anyone.”
Maria smiled. “Don’t worry, your cute secret’s safe with me.” She playfully booped Shadow’s tummy, who squeaked at that before trying to cover it up with a cough.
“I mean it, Maria!” The black hedgehog’s ears lowered. “If anyone finds out about this offensive tactic because of you, I’ll…I’ll steal your roller skates! And never give them back.”
Maria let out a long dramatic gasp, half-pretending to be greatly appalled by that threat. “Threatening the second thing I love most? First one being you, of course.” She lowered her tone to sound icy. “But my roller skates? Stealing my skates..?”
Shadow was worried for a split second if he had accidentally made Maria legitimately angry. Now he really regretted his choice of words. He could feel a cold chill run down his spine at his friend—his normally sweet and bubbly—friend’s tone, and the way she tightened her grip.
What he didn’t expect was to burst into hysterics as Maria ruthlessly tickled him. She furiously dug one hand into his belly while the other was shoved under his arm. And this time, she wasn’t playing nice anymore. No matter which way he squirmed, her fingers kept tickling and he couldn’t break free.
“NAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAA!! MARIAAAAAHAHAHAHAHA!! WAHAHAIT, PLEAHEEHEEHEEHEASE!! I-I’M SO-HAHAHAHAAAA!! I’M SORRY!!”
“I’m sorry, too, Shadow,” Maria said with faux sympathy. “I’m sorry that I do not accept your apology!”
“WHAHAHAHAT?! YOU—YOU CAHAHAN’T DO THA—HAAAAAHAHAHAHAAAAA!!” Maria cut him off by using both hands to furiously tickle his belly. “NOHAAAAEEEEEEEHEHEHAAAAAA!! NAHAHAHO, PLEAHEEHEEHEEEEEASE!! NAHAHAHAT THEHEHEHERE!! IHIHI’M REAHEEHEEHEALLY SOHOHORRY!! AAAAHAHAHA!! I DIHIHIHIDN’T MEAN IHIHIHIT!!
Shadow frantically batted at Maria’s scribbling hands, trying to push them anywhere else but his stomach. But that proved to be a mistake, as Maria switched from tickling his belly to his underarms, down to his ribs, then back to his belly, over and over so he couldn’t get used to the tickly feeling.
Eight seconds later, Shadow was starting to lose it. Maria was wielding a very evil duo attack: she had one hand softly fluttering behind his back (he had no idea he was even ticklish there, either. How many tickle spots did he have?!) while the other scribbled the center of his tummy. Having two spots targeted simultaneously made his body confused; he didn’t know if he should arch away or curl inward.
Even though Maria had softened up her touch, that wasn’t the bad part. It was the awful teasing words she was cooing in his ear that made him want to combust. “Tickle tickle, Shadow~! Who’s a ticklish wittle baby hedgehog? It’s youuu~! Aww, you’re trying so hard to get away, but you can’t! Aww, does that fluster you? Me saying the word ‘tickle’? How about…tickletickletickletickle!! Tickle tickle tickle! Tiiiickle tickle tickleeee~!”
Shadow felt like he was going to burst into flames. That evil baby talk was going to be the death of him! Tickly shocks plagued his entire body.
“M-MARIAAAAHAHAHAHAHAAAA!! C’MOHAHAHAHAHON, PLEAHEEHEEHEEHEASE!! AHAHAHAHAHA!! I’M REAHEEHEEALLY SORRY!! IHIHIHI’LL DO ANYTHIHIHIHIHING, JUHUHUST STAAAAHAHAHAHAHAP!! NOHO MOHOHOHORE!!”
Maria finally showed mercy and ceased her tickling. “Tell you what, I’ll make you a deal. You apologize for doubting yourself and for threatening to steal my skates, and then you promise you’ll never doubt yourself ever again because you’re Shadow the Hedgehog. And Shadow the Hedgehog is amazing and awesome at everything he does.”
Shadow weakly nodded with a soft eye roll. “Fihihine…” Just as he was about to open his mouth to say the required words, his eyes widened at Maria hovering her wiggling fingers over him like tickling crane claws. “Mariahaha, nohohoho! I cahahahan’t say ihihit if you’re doing thahahahat!”
“This is to make sure you’re serious about your promise and the things you say,” she smirked. “Go on and say it. If you don’t, I’ll have to tickle you again~!”
Shadow curled in the fetal position. “NOHOHO! You better nohohohot!”
“Then say it!”
“Okay, okahahay!” Shadow tried to get the words out, but Maria’s teasing fingers weren’t helping. They kept inching closer, slowly wiggling towards his stomach or making pinching motions towards his ribs, before pulling away at the last second.
And poor Shadow was consumed with anticipatory giggles that wouldn’t let him get a single word out. “Maria, that’s cheaheeheeheating! You cahahan’t do thahat!”
“Shadow, you have thirty seconds before I tickle you to death.”
“NO! Okay, fihihine!” Shadow breathed a giggly sigh. He tried to fix his gaze on Maria’s eyes instead of her teasing fingers. “Maria, I’m sohohorry for doubting myself…and threatening to steal your skates. I promihihise I won’t ever doubt myself again. There, I said it.”
“And?” she pressed. When Shadow didn’t want to say, she gave him a few quick side tases.
“AAAH! OkAHAhahay! And! Because…” He sighed. “I’m Shadow the Hedgehog, and Shadow the Hedgehog is amazing and awesome at everything he does.”
Maria smiled in satisfaction. She pulled her claw hands away, and gave Shadow gentle rubs to the head. “I accept your apology. And your promise.” She gave him a hug. “Now was that so hard to do?”
Shadow scoffed. “Very.”
“But don’t you feel better?”
“…Yeah. Thank you, Maria…really. You always know how to help me feel better. I really don’t know what I’d do without you. Thank you again for everything.”
The two embraced in a warm hug. When they finally broke, Shadow gave her a stern look. “Don’t think I won’t try and get revenge for your little stunt you pulled today.”
Maria laughed, not taking the hint. “Oh, Shadow. No you wouldn’t. You love me too much as a friend. C’mon, let’s head back.” She suddenly yawned. “I’m getting tired.”
Shadow nodded, softening his expression. “Of course. Here,” he took her hand. “No need to walk all the way back.” He activated his chaos energy, and teleported them back to Maria's room. She invited Shadow to stay and sleep together in the blanket fort, which he happily accepted.
Once they were nestled under the blankets, Shadow decided to enact his revenge. No way was he going to let her get away with tickling the ultimate lifeform. Very carefully, he slid his hand under the blanket. When his fingers found Maria’s side, he started gently squeezing.
Maria squeaked and burst into giggles. “Shahahahadow! EEEEheeheeheehee!”
Now it was Shadow’s turn to smirk. “Did you really think I wasn’t going to get back at you after what you did to me?”
“I don’t knohohow! Mahahaybe? EEEEEHEEEK!! Shahahadow, wAHAHAhahait!!” Maria squealed and giggled louder as the hedgehog delivered rapid pokes up and down her ribs. She batted at his hand, and tried curling on her side.
“Oh, did I miss a spot here?” Shadow pointed out as he poked her other side of ribs. He smiled as he heard her bright giggles.
Maria tried shielding herself by pulling her blanket over her head.
“Trying to evade my revenge will only make things worse!” Shadow declared, yanking the blanket off of her. Maria squealed in surprise, opting to hug her torso for protection. She turned her back to the hedgehog.
“Do you really think that’s going to stop me?” Shadow playfully remarked, raising an amused eyebrow. He was surprised Maria wasn’t putting in a lot of effort to try and stop him, like he did with her. He figured maybe this was just something she secretly liked.
Shadow gently traced imaginary lines up and down the girl’s spine, eliciting more high-pitched giggles. She simply covered her mouth with both hands, and twitched at the soft touch but didn’t try to move away.
Shadow took that as his cue to continue. Time to turn the tables. “Hey, Maria, remember that rhyming chant you always liked to use to mess with me? Well, let’s see if it works on you, too!” He traced another set of parallel lines down her spine. “Let’s see, line line, spider crawling up your spine…” his gloved hand switched to a scribbly claw. “Pat pat…” He gently patted her shoulder blades before…
“Heart attack!” Shadow suddenly reached out to tase Maria’s sides.
Maria squealed loudly and shrieked laughter as the tases didn’t stop. “EEEEEK!! ShAHAHAdow! AAAheeheehahaha!! WAHAhahait, noho faHAHAhair!! I’m only supposed to do th—AAAH! Thahahat to you!!”
“Well, now I’m doing it to you!” The snarky hedgehog pointed out. “This is what you get for pulling all your devious stunts on me!”
Instead of letting her answer, Shadow decided to be mean and slipped his hand under her pajama shirt, gently digging into her belly the same way she’d done with him. The reaction was priceless; Maria screeched and flailed as if she was being electrocuted, but that didn’t deter Shadow.
“SHAHAHAHAHDOW!! AAAAAHEHEHEHAHAHAHAAAA!! WAHAHAHAIT THAT REALLY—EEEEEEHEEHEEHEE!! TIHIHIHICKLES!! EEEEEEEEEK!! NAAAAHAHAHAHAHA!!”
Maria’s flailing arm suddenly smacked Shadow on the head. He ducked as her elbow almost collided with his jaw. He decided to turn the tables one last time by slipping his free hand behind her to scribble her back while still fluttering his other against her belly.
“EEEEEEHEEHEEEHEAAAAHAHAHA!! HEHEHEHEY, NO FAHAHAHAHAIR!!”
Shadow kept tickling the girl for a few more seconds before her laughter turned silent. He stopped immediately, suddenly concerned. “Maria? Are you okay?” He shook her shoulder. “Did I go too far?”
Maria shook her head as she panted, her cheeks dusted a pink hue. She sat up, coughing between pants.
Shadow became very worried, guilt washing over him. “I’m sorry, I should have stopped.”
“Shadow, it’s okay,” Maria insisted once she caught her breath. “I’m okay, really. I was just laughing really hard.” She giggled, adjusting her shirt. “You really got me good back there. But I’m fine, I promise.”
She smiled reassuringly, which Shadow felt relieved for. He didn’t want to accidentally tire her out too quickly, even if she half-deserved it. “Just…don’t try that on me again, or else I won’t be so merciful next time,” he told her.
Maria laughed it off, completely unfazed by his little threat. “No promises. I’ve never heard you laugh before, Shadow. But it was so cute! And I never knew you were ticklish, either. But I am so gonna tickle you now every chance I get!” She waggled her eyebrows cheekily. “Maybe that’ll teach you not to be so pouty all the time!”
Shadow’s mouth dropped agape, but he recovered in the next second. “Try it, and I’ll make you sorry you ever did.”
“Oooh, soooo scary.”
“You should be. You just never learn, do you?”
“Nope!”
Shadow shook his head with a faint smile. “We better get to sleep. It’s not healthy to stay up so late.”
Maria was about to protest when a yawn interrupted her. Giving up with a tired sigh, she snuggled under the blankets again. Shadow adjusted the blanket for her, making sure she was covered before handing Maria her bear that was discarded off to the side during all her tickly induced flailing.
Maria sleepily smiled and cuddled her plush bear close. Then, Shadow slid under the blanket next to her. Once comfy, he faced his friend who was almost asleep.
“Good night, Maria. Sweet dreams.”
Maria reached out to pet Shadow’s head. “Good night, Shadow,” she sleepily replied, eyes barely open. “Sweet dreams and sleep tight.”
Shadow smiled warmly, and gently petted her head in return. The soft glow of the fairy lights hanging above combined with the warmth of the fuzzy blankets and pillows quickly lulled Shadow into a peaceful sleep. So much better than sleepless nights floating in a giant test tube.
The two friends slept blissfully together, protected in the safe space of their blanket fort. And for the first time since Maria had discovered him in the lab, Shadow slept tranquil enough to not have any nightmares or doubting thoughts. Nothing could harm him as long as they had each other.

Sonic had no idea what he'd done to deserve this. Actually—he had several ideas. He just didn’t think Shadow would retaliate like this.
“Yohohohoho!! SH-SHADOW!!” Sonic screeched, kicking wildly from where he was pinned under the Ultimate Life Form himself—who, despite being all broody and dramatic 99% of the time, now had the smuggest smirk on his face as his gloved fingers dug mercilessly into Sonic’s sides.
“You should’ve known better,” Shadow said coolly, as if he wasn’t absolutely wrecking the fastest hedgehog alive with nothing but ten fingers and a mission. “Calling me ‘edgy mcbroodster’ in front of Rouge and then speeding off like I wouldn’t catch you.”
“I D-I DIHIHIDN’T THINK YOU’D— NAHAHA NOT THEHEHERE!!”
Shadow had found it. That spot. Right above Sonic’s hips where the blue blur always lost it. Sonic's legs thrashed like crazy, nearly kicking a poor innocent bush nearby.
“You’re incredibly ticklish, you know,” Shadow mused, now teasing slow scribbles along Sonic’s waistline that had the poor hero howling with laughter. “It’s fascinating.”
“YOU’RE EHEHEVIL!!” Sonic wailed, tears starting to gather at the corners of his eyes. “TH-THIS IS A VIOLATION OF HEDGEHOG CODE!!”
Shadow raised an eyebrow. “I was not made aware of such a code.”
“YOU WROTE IT!!” Sonic gasped through a fit of giggles.
That earned a rare, quiet snort from Shadow, who—despite pretending to be all serious—was 100% enjoying this.
“Maybe next time,” Shadow said calmly, now fluttering his fingers along Sonic’s belly (which got him a shriek and a very kicked-up foot), “you’ll think twice before taunting someone faster than you.”
“FAHAHASTER MY BUHUHUT!!” Sonic tried to retort, but Shadow just gave him the look.
“You ran. I caught you. I win.” Shadow punctuated each sentence with a playful poke—side, side, tummy, ribs—which made Sonic squeal like a chew toy.
“ALRIGHT—OHOHOHOHO-KAHAHAHAY!!” Sonic cried, curling in on himself. “MERCY, MERCY!!”
Shadow paused, still pinning Sonic gently in place, watching as the other hedgehog lay there a giggly, panting mess with a grin stretched ear to ear.
“Had enough?” he asked, voice low but not unkind.
Sonic nodded furiously. “Y-Yeah... yeah, you got me, alright... jeez…”
Shadow sat back, crossing his arms. “Good.”
There was a pause.
Then Sonic grinned. A little too smugly. “...Still worth it though.”
Shadow blinked.
“Oh no you don’t—”
“EEEEP!!”
Sonic zoomed out from under him in a streak of blue, laughing wildly as he ran circles around the clearing. Shadow just stood, dusting himself off, already preparing Chaos Control.
“Come back here, hedgehog,” he said, smirking.
“You’ll have to catch me again!!”
Shadow’s eyes glinted.
“With pleasure.”

Lee Sonic ler shadow gentle tkls? Like rlly flustering MWAHAHAA
(....OMG GENTLE TICKLE AHHHHHHHHHHH)
🖤💙 “Too Fast To Nap” 💙🖤 (Lee!Sonic, Ler!Shadow — soft and sleepy comfort tickles ahead~)
Sonic was twitching.
Not like, about to dash across the continent twitching. More like… he wanted to sleep, really tried to sleep… but his body was just too wriggly.
He laid on his side on the couch in Tails’ workshop, tail swishing, ears flicking, legs kicking like his energy had nowhere to go.
Shadow, seated calmly in the nearby chair with a book in his lap, watched him struggle.
“…You're going to rattle apart if you keep squirming like that,” he said flatly.
“I caaan’t help it,” Sonic groaned, rolling onto his back dramatically. “I wanna nap but my legs are all buzzy and my tail won’t stop twitchin’ and I feel weird and fidgety and—” He flopped. “Ughhh I’m gonna combust.”
Shadow set the book down, sighed… and stood.
“…Do not move.”
“Wait, huh?” Sonic blinked up—and yelped as Shadow calmly plopped down beside him on the couch.
“W-Whoa! Shads?! What’re you—heHEY—!”
Shadow was already slipping a hand under Sonic’s shirt, fingers gliding over his midsection in soft, circling scribbles.
“You need help relaxing,” Shadow said coolly. “So I’m assisting.”
“HEHEHehey that’s—!!” Sonic arched his back with a snort. “THAHAHAT’S NOT RELAXING—!!”
“Your laughter says otherwise,” Shadow muttered with a tiny smirk.
His fingers never stopped moving. Gentle wiggles danced around Sonic’s stomach, then up to his ribs, then back down again in slow, predictable, awful little loops.
“Shahaha—Shadowww—!!” Sonic whined, giggling helplessly. “W-Why’re you so gohohood at this?!”
“You're always flailing,” Shadow said. “I pay attention.”
“THAHAT’S CHEHEHEATING—!!”
Shadow hummed.
Then switched hands, trailing the barest fingertips along Sonic’s sides now. Sonic immediately twitched and buried his face in the couch.
“Awwwghh that’s WORSE—!!”
“Breathe,” Shadow said softly, brushing under his arms now with the lightest touch. “You’re getting quiet.”
“IHI’M TIRED—!! Y-YOU’RE M-MAHAKING ME TIRED!!”
“…Good.”
Shadow finally slowed the motions, fingers just gently fluttering over Sonic’s belly now in a way that felt more like a sleepy massage than tickling.
Sonic hiccup-giggled one last time.
“…Meheheanie…”
Shadow gently fluffed his quills. “Sleep, hedgehog.”
And finally… Sonic did. 💙

Could you write a espilver fic with Lee espio?
Love ur work <3
Well might as well give the fans what they want >:3
💫 “Can’t Hide from Me” – Espio x Silver Tickle Fic 💫
(SFW • Fluff • Lee!Espio • Ler!Silver • Comforting & cute 💕)
It started with a flicker of movement. One second, Silver was floating peacefully in the clearing outside Tails’ workshop, letting the afternoon sun soak into his fur, and the next… a blur of lavender zipped past his vision.
“Espio?” he called, sitting up midair. “Was that you?”
No answer.
Silver grinned. Espio probably thought he was being sneaky, but the air around him always shimmered a little when he went invisible. Silver might not be able to see him, but ohhh he could sense him. Psychic powers were great for a lot of things—like catching invisible ninjas who didn’t want to admit they were there.
“I know you’re around here somewhere…” Silver floated down to the grass and tapped his chin, feigning deep thought. “Hmm… maybe I’ll just have to lure you out the fun way~”
Still nothing. But there was the tiniest rustle in the bushes to his left.
Silver turned, his grin turning mischievous.
“Well, if I was trying to sneak up on me,” he teased, “I’d be verrry careful about how close I get to someone who knows all your tickle spots.”
Still no reply… but there was the faintest shift in the air behind him now. Espio was moving. Silently. Strategically.
Silver barely held in a giggle. He had him.
With a sudden flick of his hands, he used his psychic grip to snatch the air in a bubble around Espio’s form—and there it was!! A flash of shocked yellow eyes as Espio reappeared midair, trapped in a gentle floating hold like a very confused balloon.
“H-Hey—!” Espio squirmed immediately, arms crossed awkwardly over his chest as he dangled a few feet off the ground. “Silver, that’s cheating!”
Silver beamed. “Says the invisible ninja trying to sneak up on me?~”
Espio gave him the flattest look he could manage in his current, very silly predicament. “Release me.”
“Ohhh I will,” Silver teased, floating closer until their noses were practically touching. “Just as soon as I get a few answers. Like—why you were sneaking around me of all people, and why you thought you could do it without getting tickled silly first~?”
Espio’s eyes widened a tiny bit. “Silver, don’t—”
Too late.
Silver's fingers wiggled teasingly, and without another word, he pounced.
“Silver—w-WAHAHAIT!!” Espio burst into surprised laughter the moment those fingers poked into his sides, wriggling expertly into the space between his ribs. His arms flailed, but in his psychic hold, there was nowhere to escape to—just lots of squirming and squeaky giggles. “AHAHA—Y-YOU LITTLE—!!”
“Awww you’re already laughing?” Silver giggled, his voice full of affection. “You’re sooo ticklish today~!”
Espio let out a very un-ninja-like snort when Silver squeezed just under his arms. His face flushed deep purple as he threw his head back with helpless laughter. “S-SILVER!! IHIHI’M GONNA GEHEHET YOU FOR THIS!!”
“Oh? You mean when I let you go?” Silver said sweetly, now fluttering his fingers along Espio’s tummy. “That’s assuming I ever stop tickling you You might be floating here forever, just like this~!”
“NOHOHOHO!!” Espio thrashed, laughter spilling freely now, unguarded and warm. Silver didn’t push too far—just enough to see that rare smile break through, to hear the laughter that only he ever got to hear. And he loved it.
After a minute or two, Silver giggled and slowly let the tickles fade out, lowering Espio gently to the ground. The ninja curled up immediately, face hidden behind his hands, still letting out little giggle-huffs as he tried to recover.
“You’re evil,” he muttered through his fluster.
Silver just flopped beside him, resting his chin on his hands with a dreamy smile. “You’re cute when you laugh. That’s all.”
Espio peeked at him from behind one hand, blushing deeper.
“…You’re lucky I like you.”
Silver beamed. “I know.~”

MMRS-Brotherly Bonding Ch.2
First part here-
“W-Wait! WAIT!!!”
While Proto Man had no desire to cease his teasing anytime soon, he paused, looming over his captive blue brother with a mix of amusement and dominance etched on his face. "Yes, little brother?" he drawled, his voice a playful, mocking purr. "What is it that you need? Or perhaps you just want to admit defeat and beg for mercy?" His eyes sparkled with a cruel, yet playful, light as he continued to toy with Mega Man, clearly relishing the power dynamic between them.
At the mere suggestion of his capitulation, a spark of defiance ignited within Mega Man. He clenched his lips, attempting to maintain a semblance of dignity despite the rising embarrassment. "You would find that amusing, wouldn't you?" he retorted, his voice a mix of frustration and resignation. An internal struggle raged within him—a primal urge to resist and strike back, warring with the humiliating anticipation of further tickling.
Even more so, considering Proto was reaching one of “those” spots.
The first hints of growing desperation began to seep into Mega Man’s usually stalwart and fearless features, yet he didn’t want to resort to pleading just yet. No, he refused to resort to such a thing, period. Still, what he had been dreading, he wanted to delay for as long as possible. “L-Look,” he began, voice struggling to maintain a balance between authoritative and diplomatic. “This…this is ridiculous,” not exactly the most impactful of starting points, but it would have to do, the Blue Bomber realized. “You can’t seriously think that…” he paused, the word that next fit into his statement centered on his tongue, yet he found he simply couldn’t say it. As of that moment, the t-word had become something that was now no better than being cursed. “...You can’t believe this will grant you any sort of victory, right?”
Proto Man shrugged nonchalantly, but his infuriating smirk remained, a constant reminder that he held the upper hand, a fact that gnawed at Mega Man. "Well, I'll admit, this isn't our usual face-off," Proto Man conceded, acknowledging a kernel of truth in Mega Man's words. "But you see, right now, I have you right where I want you. It might not be our typical battle to the finish, but it's effective nonetheless."
Mega wanted to bark back a retort, yet the register of a touch on his side immediately had him go silent, lest he unintentionally desecrate his dignity before Proto Man did.
The red robot leaned in, his voice a low, teasing murmur. "And who knows? Maybe by the end of this, you'll see things my way and join me and the rest of Dr. Wily's crew. I mean, we're not exactly brawling here, so there's no harm in a little... persuasion." His red fingers danced lightly up Mega Man's side, sending unwanted shivers through the blue android.
"Don't worry, I'll do my best to keep you from laughing yourself to pieces. But no promises, little bro. After all, where's the fun in that?" Proto Man's eyes sparkled with a mischievous glee, clearly enjoying the power he held over his younger brother.
Mega Man's lips tightened, trying to suppress the involuntary smiles that threatened to break through his determined facade. "You... you think this is funny?" he managed to say between clenched teeth, his body betraying him as it squirmed and twitched under Proto Man's relentless onslaught. The blue android's internal circuits fired in a desperate attempt to maintain control, but the persistent, light touches were proving to be too much. His optics watered slightly, and his breathing hitched as he fought back the inevitable laughter that bubbled up from within. "You're enjoying this way too much," he accused, his voice a mix of frustration and amusement. Despite his best efforts, a soft, involuntary smile began to spread across his face, a telltale sign that his defenses were crumbling. "Just... just stop it," he demanded (pleaded), his voice laced with a mix of embarrassment and barely contained laughter. “Dohohohohon’t…!”
The Red Bomber’s already present grin only continued to widen. "Come on, don't be shy,” he cooed. “Just let loose, little bro. You know you want to,” from beneath his visor, his optics spotted the area he had begun migrating to. “Speaking of, seeing as the rest of you seems a little ‘touchy’, I’m sort of curious if Light even bothered with what’s under here!”
“Under? Under wh-” Mega Man started to ask, but his question was swiftly answered as Proto Man deftly removed his helmet. A mess of brown, fiber-optic strands spilled out, some falling over Mega Man's eyes and briefly obscuring his vision. He gave his head a light shake, flinging the strands aside with a small huff.
“Heheh, look at that helmet hair!” Proto Man laughed, a mischievous glint in his eyes as he took in the sight of his disheveled younger brother. “You know, for a hero, you sure have a mess of wires up there, little bro!” he teased, reaching out to run his metal fingers through the brown locks. He studied the way the fibers moved and bent, a curious expression on his face. “Do you ever even try to comb this bird’s nest of yours? Really, you're a mess!”
“Hey, it’s not that bad!” Mega Man protested, his cheeks flushing with embarrassment. “At least I don’t have a cold, calculating metal head like yours!” Not the greatest comeback, but at the moment, his processor was more focused on the torment to come.
In all honesty, Mega Man's hair was a subject of concern that had been brought up many times before. Roll, ever the observant and caring sister, would often remark on the state of his disheveled locks, advising him that it needed straightening whenever she saw him. On one occasion, she took matters into her own hands, attempting to tame the wild, unruly fibers into something more presentable. She worked diligently, her small hands carefully trying to smooth out the mess, but her efforts were ultimately futile. The brown, fiber-optic strands refused to cooperate, springing back into their chaotic state the moment she stepped away.
Proto Man just grinned wider, clearly amused by his sibling's discomfort. “Well, at least you’ve got some spirit left in you, bro. I was starting to worry you were going to roll over and call it a day.”
“That’ll be the day when I power down for good,” Mega Man retorted, his voice firm and determined. “And I don’t intend to let that happen at the hands of Wily, or yours either, Proto!”
Proto Man raised an eyebrow, a playful smirk spreading across his face. “Hand? As in, one? Really, Mega, you should watch your tongue. You know, you might slip up and say something that'll give me ideas for new ways to tickle you,” He reached up, his metal fingers gently tapping Mega Man's jawline, a teasing glint in his eyes. “You wouldn't want that, would you, little brother?”
“Proto, no, don’t you dare-”
“Well, you wouldn’t. But I totally would.”
Wasting no time, the red prototype continued with his torment, wiggling his fingers up and down his younger sibling’s neck and jaw, drawing a few startled snorts and strained giggles, yet it wasn’t the reaction he was truly hoping for. Then his digits met the edge of the Blue Bomber’s ear, the small bit of artificial cartilage hidden just beneath the wild and untamed mane of brown.
He yelped.
He freaking yelped.
A sound that escaped him before he could stop it. A mixture of surprise and discomfort echoed in the single syllable, yet it was enough to garner his tormentor’s attention.
“Oh my gosh,” Proto Man paused, a burst of laughter escaping him as he struggled to believe what he'd just heard. “You've got to be kidding me! So, that old man did a number on your ears, too, huh?” He chuckled, clearly amused by the situation.
Mega Man stammered, trying to formulate a response, but his words failed him. He felt a flush of embarrassment creep up his cheeks. Dr. Light had indeed focused on replicating sensory input with painstaking accuracy, and at that moment, Mega Man wished he had been a bit less thorough.
Then, Mega Man felt the firm grip of Proto Man's red and grey armored forearms encircle his head, holding him securely in place. He squirmed, trying to wriggle free, his voice rising in a mix of surprise and alarm. “H-Hey! What are you doing?!”
Proto Man just smirked, his eyes gleaming with mischief. “Little siblings are always the squirmy ones, so I’m taking some precautions,” he remarked, his voice casual and unconcerned. “I call it ‘big brother reinforcement.’”
Mega Man's eyes widened as he saw Proto Man's red digits inch closer to his face. “W-Wait! WAIT!” he pleaded, his voice rising in a desperate attempt to delay the inevitable. The humiliation was almost too much to bear, but he found himself begging nonetheless.
“Would you relax? I ain’t gonna hurt ya!” Proto Man reassured him, though his tone held a hint of amusement. He brought his digits to the back of Mega Man’s neck, gently scratching and tapping. “Although I can’t guarantee I won’t drive you a little crazy.” he added, a playful glint in his eyes as he began to tease his younger sibling.
“No, but you ARE clearly planning to—” Mega Man stammered, his voice wavering as he tried to formulate a coherent response. The image of strength and composure his armor represented seemed to be crumbling under Proto Man's gentle, relentless torment. “To…to torment me until then! That’s far from benevolent!”
Proto Man chuckled, his fingers continuing their gentle, teasing strokes. “Torment? Bro, you make it sound so dramatic. I'm just having a bit of fun.” He leaned in closer, his voice a low, playful whisper. “Besides, I think you're forgetting something. You can't even say the word 'tickle' without turning as red as a lightbulb. It's adorable.”
Mega Man's cheeks flushed even deeper, a mix of embarrassment and frustration coloring his face. “I-I can too say it!” he insisted, though his voice lacked conviction. “T-tickle! There, I said it!”
Proto Man laughed outright, his fingers tracing a pattern on the back of Mega Man’s neck. “Sure you did, little brother. But the way your voice shakes tells a different story. Maybe next time, you'll be able to say it without turning into a walking traffic light.”
Before Mega Man could even find the words to respond, the sensation of Proto Man's fingers tracing his neck and back sent him into a fit of giggles. He was torn between trying to squirm away and simply surrendering to the overwhelming sensations that seemed to drain every bit of strength from his metallic body. “S-stop it!” he managed to gasp between laughs, his voice breathless and weak.
“Besides, as your big brother, I decree it my solemn duty to consistently annoy you,” Proto Man continued, his voice laced with amusement and a hint of satisfaction. “Even if it means tickling you half to death. It’s all in the name of brotherly love, right?”
Mega Man could only manage a weak protest, his body betraying him as he laughed despite his attempts to maintain composure. “Y-you’re impossible!” he managed to sputter, shaking his head from the intensity of his laughter. “I-I can’t even think straight!”
Proto Man just grinned, clearly pleased with the effect he was having on his younger sibling. “That’s the point, little bro. I’m just making sure you never forget who’s boss around here.”
Proto Man, seeing the effect his actions were having, decided to up the ante. He shifted his focus, his fingers deftly finding their way to Mega Man's ears and the sensitive area behind them. He traced light, feathery patterns, his touch both gentle and maddening. “You know, I've always wondered just how sensitive these ear components of yours are,” he mused, a wicked glint in his eyes as he watched Mega Man squirm.
Mega Man's breath hitched, his body tensing as he tried his hardest to hold back the pleas for mercy that threatened to spill from his lips. “N-nothing’s gonna make me beg for mercy!” he insisted, his voice shaky and unconvincing. He gritted his teeth, trying to focus on anything but the overwhelming sensations coursing through his body.
Proto Man just chuckled, clearly enjoying the power he held over his younger sibling. He moved his fingers to the back of Mega Man's neck, applying just the right amount of pressure to send shivers down his spine. “You're a tough cookie, I'll give you that,” he said, his voice a low, teasing purr. “But everyone has their breaking point, and I'm determined to find yours.”
Mega Man's resolve was wavering, his body betraying him as he let out a series of involuntary gasps and giggles. He clenched his fists, his knuckles turning white as he fought to maintain control. “Y-you’re evil, you know that?” he managed to gasp out, his voice hoarse from the effort of holding back his pleas.
“Oh really?” Proto Man asked, feigning surprise with a dramatic flourish. “Aw, that’s the sweetest thing anyone’s said to me all day!” He grinned, clearly amused by the situation. “But yeah, even if that’s true, you should consider yourself lucky.”
“Wh-Why?” the brunette DLN stuttered, a giggle slipping out in between his words. “S-So-hoho you ca-haha-n tell this new we-heehee-kness to Wily?”
“As if!” Proto Man protested, as if the very idea was the last thing he wanted. “I’m keeping this little... encounter between us and us alone. Wouldn't want the others thinking you're anything less than the stoic hero you are, little brother.” He then went back to lightly prodding and stroking the other android’s humanoid ears, the headlock serving as a rather useful means of restraining his target.
“S-Stop…” Mega strained through clenched teeth and a crooked smile that only continued to spread further and wider. “D-Do-hohoho-n’t…!”
“Don’t do what, little bro?” Proto inquired mockingly.
“T-This!” the azure android squeaked, followed by a few sputtery giggles escaping from his lips. “D-Do-hohoho-n’t!”
The shades-wearing robot only grinned wider, though his expression came from a far different source than his brother’s. “Aw, why not this?” he asked. “Is it too much for you?”
Whether out of pride or the fact that he simply didn’t want to give the scarf-wearing jerk the high ground, Mega Man protested fervently. “N-No-hohoho way!” he managed to chortle out. “But it IS torture!”
“Hey, at least we’re not shooting at each other for once,” The Red Bomber mentioned, withdrawing his hands from around his brother’s head. “If anything, had I known it was this easy to get you to break, I would’ve done this way sooner than any punch.”
“But I thought you were always up for a fight with me,” Mega Man countered, almost as if he were trying to convince Proto Man to engage in combat with him, albeit subtly. “I mean, how many times have you up and sabotaged Wily’s plans just because it would result in me getting turned into scrap metal?”
The red and grey android didn’t respond at first, as if realizing just what his captive was saying to him. A few moments of silence followed, yet eventually, Proto Man reached an answer. Or, at least one he was willing to let his brother hear. “Because taking you out is my role and mine alone,” he responded, as if trying to convince himself that was all there was to it. “And, for the time being,” he continued, reaching up to lightly spider his way up from his brother’s sides to the hollows of his underarms. “This is way more entertaining.”
He dared not show it, at least not entirely, yet Mega couldn’t help but inwardly gulp, his plan having failed and his fate seemingly sealed. “Y-You can’t just keep me here forever, you know!” he barked out, half trying to sound as if he were delivering some sort of threat and half trying to remind Proto of a potential possibility that would maybe result in his freedom.
“Uh, yeah? Think I don’t know that?” the red-armored robot mockingly questioned. “Which is why,” he grinned, dipping his digits into the curved inward dips that rested under his sibling’s muscled biceps. “I wanna make every single moment of this count!”
Proto Man's digits danced and wiggled, relentlessly tickling the sensitive spots under Mega Man's arms. Mega Man's body tensed as he tried to suppress the inevitable, but his efforts were futile. A series of short, sharp laughs escaped his mouth, betraying his attempt to maintain a stern facade.
“N-No! No-hohohohoho-ahahahhahaha!!!” The younger DLN did all he could to try and shield his reddening face from the other machine tormenting him, yet it seemed that his ever-present, beet-red laughing face was always present for his brother to see, no matter what method he used to try and preserve his dignity, whatever of it was left.
“Hehehe, surprised ya, didn’t I?” Proto chuckled, continuing to wiggle his fingers akin to writhing, frantic serpents in the hollows of his brother’s equally muscled arms.
"S-Stop it, Proto!" Mega Man managed to stammer between fits of laughter. "You're not playing fair!"
Proto Man chuckled, a low, mechanical sound that held a hint of amusement. "Fair? Who said anything about fair, little brother?" he teased, his fingers continuing their torment. Mega Man's laughs grew louder and more uncontrollable, his body shaking with the effort to hold them back. “Pfffft! You laugh like a little kid!”
“D-Do not!”
“Oh, yes, you do, bro,” Proto countered. “You sound just like a cute little kid that just can’t help themselves but react to whatever they find to be so funny,” he then increased his efforts, applying a slight degree more pressure. “Either way, the Blue Bomber looks adorable cackling his head off.”
Mega writhed in his magnetized bonds, although any sort of movement was greatly limited and just barely there. If anything, involuntary as they were, his desperate thrashing only further encouraged the robot driving him mad to go even further. "P-Proto, ple-!" he gasped, tears beginning to form in the corners of his optical sensors, and having caught himself in the beginnings of a plea. “S-Stop!!!”
The red-armored robot finally relented, pulling his hands away with a satisfied smirk. "There we go," he said, his voice laced with triumph. "A little laughter never hurt anyone. Now, let's get back to our... discussion."
Mega Man took a deep breath, trying to regain his composure as he fixed his glare on Proto Man, a blend of embarrassment and reluctant amusement playing across his features. "Y-You're impossible, Proto," he muttered, though his voice lacked any real anger, replaced instead by a weary acceptance of their familiar banter. “You know very well I can—” His words were cut short by a burst of laughter as Proto Man's fingers found a particularly sensitive spot behind his ear.
“Tsk, tsk, tsk, wrong answer, little bro,” Proto Man chided playfully, reaching forward to lightly scratch at Mega Man's ears. The usually stoic Blue Bomber let out a series of genuine, infectious chuckles, his body betraying his attempts to maintain a facade of strength. “Although, if you insist on making yourself look like a cute little giggly kid, who am I to stop you?” Proto Man cooed, his eyes sparkling with mischief. “I'm certainly not complaining.”
Even as laughter overtook him, Mega Man clung desperately to whatever shreds of pride and dignity he had left. “I-I am n-hahahahaha-!!!” he tried to protest, his voice wavering and failing him as the tickles continued unabated. “I am na-hahahaha-t cu-huhuhu-te!!!”
Proto Man leaned back, a satisfied smirk on his face. “Eeeehhh, ya, I think you kinda are,” he teased, though in his mind, he admitted that "kinda" was an understatement. He had never expected Mega Man to be so reactive, so responsive to his touch. This was going to be far more entertaining than he had anticipated. “Oh, this is going to be good,” he mused, his eyes gleaming with anticipation as he prepared to continue his playful torment.
Mega Man, despite his best efforts, found himself trapped in a futile struggle, trying to wriggle free from Proto Man's relentless hold. The close proximity of the two, combined with the immobilizing effects of Magnet Man's namesakes, made escape nearly impossible. His limbs, barely able to move an inch, felt like lead weights, further hindering his attempts to break free.
As Proto Man continued his playful assault, Mega Man's laughter bubbled up uncontrollably, escaping in bursts that seemed to defy his usual stoic demeanor. Each tickle sent waves of sensation coursing through his metallic body, leaving him breathless and helpless. Yet, amidst the chaos, he felt a strange sense of release. For once, he didn't have to maintain the image of an invulnerable hero. He could let go, if only for a moment, and embrace the sheer joy of the moment.
Proto Man, ever the observant sibling, noticed the shift in Mega Man's demeanor. A soft chuckle escaped him as he continued his teasing. “You know, for someone who's always so serious, you sure know how to let loose when you want to,” he remarked, his voice laced with amusement and a hint of tenderness. “Maybe you should do this more often. It's good for the soul, or whatever passes for a soul in a robot like us.”
Mega Man, caught between laughter and a strange sense of vulnerability, could only manage a weak protest. “I-I'm not... hahaha... I'm not laughing because I want to!” he insisted, though his words were belied by the genuine smile tugging at the corners of his mouth. In that moment, he realized that perhaps there was more to life than just being a hero. Sometimes, it was okay to just be a brother, laughing and playing with the one person who, whether he liked it or not, knew him best.
Even if he was said brother to a world-infamous criminal and renegade robot.
“Well, where else are you a little sensitive, little bro?” Proto Man inquired, his voice laced with mischief. “Are you…” He paused dramatically, a wicked grin spreading across his face as he gave Mega Man's hips a series of light, deliberate squeezes. “Tickle-tickle-ticklish here?”
Mega Man twisted and writhed, his movements constrained by the relentless hold of his brother's arms. He giggled through clenched lips, his mouth parting to release a new barrage of laughter. “Mmm!!! Mhmhmhmhm!!!” he managed, his voice a mix of amusement and exasperation. “P-Proto-hohohohoho!!!” he chortled and groaned, his teeth clenched in a futile attempt to maintain control. “D-Do-hohohohoho-n’t!!!”
Proto Man leaned in closer, his eyes sparkling with amusement. “Aw, what? Is that not your weak spot?” he taunted, his fingers raking agonizingly down Mega Man's abdomen. He traced a path up and down, his touch slow enough to be tormenting but fast enough to keep Mega Man on edge. “Then what about here?” he mockingly questioned, his voice a low, playful purr.
He watched with satisfaction as Mega Man fought to maintain his composure, his body betraying him with every twitch and shudder. Then, Proto Man traced along the contours of Mega Man's developed abdominal "muscles," the area just below his pectorals. To his shock and surprise, Mega Man let out a shriek, a sound that was part laughter, part desperation.
“Jackpot,” Proto Man mused, a triumphant grin spreading across his face. “I knew there had to be a spot that would really get you going. And here I thought you were just a tough guy all over.”
Mega Man, his face flushed and his breath coming in ragged gasps, could only manage a weak protest. “Y-you... you're impossible!” he managed to gasp out, his voice hoarse from the effort of holding back his laughter. “P-please, Proto... just... just stop!”
Proto Man just chuckled, clearly enjoying the power he held over his younger sibling. “Stop? Why would I do that when we're just getting started?” he teased, his fingers already finding new, sensitive spots to explore. “I think I'm going to have a lot of fun with this.”

Lowkey brain-rotting about Miguel’s Version of doc-ock tangling him up in his actuators (tentacle thingies) and watching as Miguel’s struggles only to start raking his nails down Miguels exposed stomach, grinning as he watches Miguel fail to arch and wiggle around.
And Miguel is just in hysterics the poor guy, unable to cope with the horrible ticklish feeling paired with the fact he cant even wiggle away. And rather than defeating him, doc simply tickles him to oblivion finding enjoyment in watching Miguel giggle.

Minors- that means those that are under the age of 18- Do not interact.
One thing I don't see spoken about a lot in the tickle community, is how there's often this interest or fixation on laughter. Like, for as long as I can remember I've had this interest in laughter. I feel like if there is one thing I can describe damn good when I want to in my fics and headcanons, is someone's laugh. I remember there was this episode of Lilo and Stitch The Series, where this one experiment's weakness was making it laugh... And oh man, I devoured that shit.
And when I finally got courageous to write around fifteen, one of my favorite tropes was the "stoic, strict, composed character who never laughs or hasn't laughed in a long time, and is suddenly launched into a hard, snort-y, cackling, wheezing, side hugging laugh attack or giggle fit."
It's still one of my favorite tropes but when we bring tickling into it? Oh, that's just a lovely bonus. I just love laughter ig. It's our purest expression of joy, and I hope to never lose it.
