The home owner attempted to custom finish these stairs themselves to match their prefinished hardwood flooring found in the upstairs. They had some difficulty and it ended up blotchy in colour and didn't adhese properly. The finish was a multi step procedure with a light undertone, dark overtone and clear coat to top. With the use of some blending techniques the customer was incredibly happy. Phew! An interesting little project sixnations consisting of removing a red toned maple floor from the dining room and living room and reinstall it in the two bedrooms. The common areas than refloored with rustic appearing laminate flooring. This not something that is typical but in this case it was something easily accomplishable as the existing hardwood floor was poorly installed and sparcely nailed.
