Reminders for the Anxious/Depressed Creatives
You’re more than what you make.
Your productivity does not determine your value.
It’s okay to do nothing sometimes.
Not everything you do has to result in a product.
Not everything you make has to be important, significant, or even good.
You can make things just for yourself.
You can keep secrets for yourself, whether it’s not posting some of your projects or not sharing your techniques.
You’re allowed to say no.
You’re allowed to rest.

During my great Tumblr hiatus I've been up to lots of stuff. I got back into painting miniatures, something I used to do in the 90's long before kids. Another obsession I've happily indulged is "The Witcher" and part 2 of season 3 on Netflix drops soon, so here's a look at a few minis I painted since Season 1. The first two photos are from a group of pieces sent to a fellow fan as a gift exchange. The bottom two are in my collection and has my first attempt at modding and sculpting (the game inspired kikimore) and my second attempt at a bust.
If time ever allows I hope to paint more cause I'll be honest, my collection of Witcher minis is extreme at this point. And that was BEFORE I kickstarted the Witcher: Old World board game!

I had plenty of assistance building my Delloso de la Rue cosplay, through all phases of the build. Whether it's research, construction, or quality testing, Phineas and Ferb are always here to help hold things down and remind me when it's time to take a break.
They aren't allowed to help with patterning anymore. You'd think they'd make great pattern weights, but noooooooo, they really, really don't. Something about organza and tulle just sends them right into zoomies.

"Yours forever and always...." a letter never delivered to their dearest Captain K. P. Hob.
I fell in love with Delloso de la Rue, created by the incredible #OscarMontoya for the Dimension 20 campaign “Court of Fey and Flowers” and couldn't wait to bring them to life.
Letter writing is such an important part of this rpg and Heather captured moments that could be right out of a painting! ❤️
I love how much these photos remind me of old paintings.

Some WIP pics of my latest cosplay. It’s got to be ready for 221B Con next week so I’m truly in panic/crunch mode to finish them up.
The mask is carved and shaped leather. I love working with leather, but it is very hard on my hands so I rarely do it anymore and keep to simpler designs. I can see through the eyes since they are clear plastic with car window tint applied. It’s like wearing sunglasses!
For Delloso de la Rue’s red gown I started with a hoop I built years ago, and then tackled the petticoat, I kinda wanted a fluffy organza petti, but not quite the same shape as Cinderella, so it would be a bit more bell shaped, at least that’s the hope!
Ferb, one of my cats, has been a huge help through this entire process, and is going to miss his hiding spot when it comes off the dress form.
Then come the giant skirt petals, which I added rhinestones to, because.. why not??? I had a LOT of crystals from a pre-pandemic cosplay that didn’t happen and so they went here.
Now to finish the bodice, wings and wig/hat???

You're not embarrassed being an old woman and being in tumblr? I would rather die that my grannies have an actual account on tumblr for celebrities rho
Why would I be embarrassed for having interests I enjoy? My guess is that you’re really, really young. And that maybe you don’t actually have solid relationships with adults who have lives outside of parenting or work. But I hope for you that when you’re my age you have hobbies that bring you happiness. And that by that point you realize that trying to shame someone for being an adult only makes you look too immature to be in adult spaces, which Tumblr is.
When I was 20, I loved music, making art, writing and reading good stories, fashion, talking about popular culture, making friends, going to concerts… You’d be surprised how little changes when you’re my age. I just have way more money and time to enjoy those things now. I’m only 55. I’m not dead. I’m also not a “granny”, but even if I was, I’d probably still like all of those things.
Ageism isn’t cute, love. And I sure don’t ever see people telling men they shouldn’t go to football games or have their little “fantasy football leagues” or wear their favorite player’s merch. For every comment you guys like to say is misogynistic (but isn’t), this is one that really reeks of it.

Putting all three of the My Fair Owlbear pictures in one post.
Delloso de La Rue is a beautiful character inside and out. I love to dress them up.
