Chapter 1

The sun does touch my eyes from the windows, what a cunt.

I pull my sheets all over my head, and I stay there for a minute or so. Tails’ long gone saying something about thermometers and water, not before making me swear I would stay in bed, though.

It's not like i wanted to get up, anyway.

My limbs are just getting that numb sensation off, my head still feels light and full of cotton, to the point that trying to move my eyes gives me a shiver capable of putting me down, again-

I still can't get over the glance my brother (little brother, who i should watch over, not the other way around) throwed me when I finally managed to open my eyes. Panic, worry. And what for? Told me he heard a thud upstairs and then found me having a convulsion.

That's something that didn't just happen, not to me at least, do i have to pull the whole “fastest thing alive” discourse up?

In hindsight, this ‘fainting’ thing can be from anything. You forgot to eat? You'll probably faint, he's gone through that once or twice. You didn't sleep well? It's mostly secured it'll happen.

Yet of the listed things, he didn't remember doing any.

Not that his thoughts were deep into what he did and did not, not when his brain felt like it was about to get out his head through the ears. Arms felt like full of sand, they were easy to move yet felt heavy, heaviness he used to pull weight on the sheets against his head. It worked, he didn't feel like floating anymore, that and the constant sensation of a bracelet on his wrist were keeping him attached to conscience.

Sonic got the sheets off when he heard muffled steps on the hallway, directing his glance to the door slowly, his eyes becoming a little heavy as he did.

Still, he saw his brother entering the room and closed his eyes when the fox’s weight landed next to his legs on the mattress. A cold hand touched his arm, goosebumps covering a part of the peach tinted skin.

Opening his eyes again, he threw a tired glance at Tails'.

“Sorry, i have to take your temperature before you go to sleep again, your shivers are already giving high on fever.” He waved with a digital thermometer in his hand, turning it on while he explained.

He handed it to him, probably because of the aversion he showed to touch at the moment.

Sonic took the little thing, shaking it and tucking it into his armpit. Old habit, he'd say, but he doesn't remember where he got it from, or thinks he'll ever do.

Of course he shouldn't have expected ‘the fastest thing alive’ to stay in one place, even after that. Still, he would've liked a warning at least, before his brother stood up and almost passed out, again.

This was starting to get repetitive. But wasn't Tails known as a fast thinker?

“Wait, wait, wait. Sonic, literally stop it before I have to pin you down.”

The oldest laughed at this, ‘bout to talk.

“Like you could, dumbass”

“Shut it, I'm serious here. Like, you fucking fainted two minutes ago?”

“Can we not have a heart to heart in the floor”

“I believe you can't stand up”

“Why would you think that”

“A hunch”

“Yellow rat”

“I’m orange, blue hamster”

They were sat on the floor, the most part of the tension already gone

Most of it. Of course he wouldn't let this go, he did not know what the hell was wrong here. They would laugh this off later, but not today.

“Do you think you can stand up?”

The hedgehog looked down at the area, then at himself.

“No, I don't think so”

The fox chuckled at that, before helping his brother stand up.

“Cheer up, you're not dying. I'm not letting you go like that, idiot”

“Was that a threat or a promise?”

“Something in between”
