I feel like we, Wizard101 players, as a community don't do enough with the concept of specialized wizards. Give me a necromancer who deals with poison and nothing else. Give me a diviner who doesn't give a shit about lightning but will sling water at people without a second thought. Give me a myth student who just conjures frogs and nothing else.

Anyways I'm just gonna drop an OC fact because I think it's fun

Corwin is a Thaumaturge from a Pyromancer lineage and distant (but not that distant) fire elf heritage. When he gets pissed, he sparks and his temperature plummets. It makes him dizzy.

One of the things that brings me sm joy is how even though Cyrus is a jerk a solid 75% of the time, whenever he’s talking about something myth related (Aquila, or the entry quests of Azteca) you can literally HEAR in the voice acting how legit passionate he is about it.

Like yea, the man clearly doesn’t have the temperament for the education field (and needs some serious post Malistaire therapy) but you can’t say he isn’t legitimately passionate about Myth, and it’s so heartwarming to see him happy about something when so much of his storylines are depressing as all hell.

Headcanon: there are two general categories for casting spells in wizard101. Evocation which is when a wizard draws on their internal mana reserves to cast a spell and invocation which is when a wizard draws on external sources of mana or the ambient magical energy to cast a spell. The elemental schools tend to have more of a focus on invocation whereas the spirit schools have a focus on evocation. Balance is an equal mix of the two.

however what happens when there are no external sources of mana to cast spells.... although it would make sense for that to be a thing considering how many wisps are flying around in certain areas... SO I GUESS IT COULD FIT!!

im interested to see if there is any reason why elemental schools are more invocation focused and spirit schools are evocation based... as far as my own headcanons go here are some that i came up with to help with my thought process hehe

Shadow Magic HC-Daily

Disclaimer: I personally don't suffer from chronic pain. I do have a personal connection to it through my mother and younger sister and have seen how it can affect them and their life.

I got to thinking that Shadow magic should have more consequences in-universe. It should be a more difficult choice, a bigger price to pay to stop Morganthe. So here's my headcanon regarding the price of Shadow magic on a daily basis.

When a magic-user takes in shadow magic, it will forever burn in their veins. Literally. Most of the time, the pain is a dull throbbing. Something that, with time and experience, the magic-user can ignore or push aside. Some days it can even disappear altogether.

Some days though, it flares and lashes out. It consumes the whole body. It chills so cold it burns through every vein. It leaves the magic-user breathless and desperate for air. Those days are the days where just getting through the day is an accomplishment.

I'm currently working on a snapshot of one of Emily's worse flare-ups with her crew and their reactions to learning this isn't an uncommon thing for her. Hurt/Comfort to the max.
