The set rate for late fees for books outside of the restricted section is two gold pieces.
However, if you'd like to keep the book, we can also call in a copy wizard and have him conjure a copy for you, for five gold pieces.

Don't worry, late fees at the library doesn't compound interest, so just take your time and pay them when you're able to.

We seriously need to expand our restricted section area.
The copies of "The Magical Basics of Making Convincing Copies" are getting out of hand.

Interesting insight, I think I'll tale you up on that suggestion. It'll take some work, but I think we can get the reorganization done in a day or two.
Time to break out the oven mitts again.
Update on Library Inventory - 19/03/24
New additions!
"The Manaplane - A Travelogue" by Heindren Vardenzel
"A Guide to Magical Wetland Creature" by Gorf the Green
"Big Magic" by Big "Big Magic" Magic
"Surgical Sigils for Reconstruction" by Edwina the Medicant
"Interplanar Textiles" by Seamstress Estella
"The Basics of Swarm Familiars" by Scauts Gennderrin
Changes to organisation.
"Essential Remedies for Ailments" by Master Dernien has been moved from the Medical & Healing magic section to the Folk Magic section, due to discussions about the effects of the spells.
Evocation tomes pertaining to fire and heat have, once again, been split into two separate sections, one for fire and one for heat. (Although as the debate continues, I doubt it will stay that way)
The beast between the shelves has been pacified for now.
Removals.
"Bottling - The Essentials of Storage Magic" has been moved to the restricted section due to the recent actions of the writer, Vancleft the Vindictive

Garveland the Grimkilling might have an intimidated name, but I guarantee you that his culinary spellbooks will change your life.
His recipe for cockatrice hotpot is nothing short of soul healing.
You can check out copies of all the books in his bibliography, but quick tip, the library does offer recipe transcription services if you wish to keep certain recipes.

Some guests have expressed some specific concerns lately, so let me clear things up.
Yes, we do keep track of every library card issued, but that information is confidential to library staff, and only library staff.
The Wizard Council has approached us numerous times about using our tracking system, we have turned them down every single time, and we will continue to do so.
They do not own us, and we do not owe them.
Hope that clears things up.

Take heed guests, the Meet Cute grimoire in the Emotional Control & Manipulation aisle is acting up again.
Signs that you may have been afflicted.
Accidentaly touching the hand of another guest while reaching for the same book.
Finding yourself strangely unable to get past the awkward atmosphere created by said event.
Experiencing an unnatural unwillingness to move away from other person.
Having involuntary daydreams about your life together with the other person.
At first sign of one or more of these conditions, contact library staff immediately, and let them administer a test for foreign mana in your system.

LIBRARY PSA
There's a family of 1 inch tall gnomes living behind the books in one of the sections of the culinary spellcraft aisle. A red ribbon has been placed across the section to indicate where. If you want to check out any of the books in that section, we have extra copies at the main desk.
They're very nice and love having company, but be mindful not to disturb them unnecessarily.
If anything happens to them, we have been authorized to use a Eternal Finger- and Toenail Explosion Hex on the culprit.

Note
I have a tome that likes to flip through its pages dramatically as soon as I start casting a spell, which means I...can't...read...the spell.
Any advice?
Sounds tricky
If it has sentience and can be reasoned with, try to listen to it, understand why it may be stopping you from casting certain spells.
If it can't, use binder clips, three for each side.
Worst case scenario, split the tome apart and turn each individual page into scrolls.

Okay, yes, SOME of the grimoires in the dark magic section has been offering sloppy in exchange for blood pacts.
We do not seek to curb this practice, only to warn library guests that they may be propositioned.
