Feeling sad today and that’s okay, I think it’s necessary to take time to ruminate & feel the sadness in the world. It’s cold today & I am fortunate to have a roof over my head, to have a shower, & a bathroom. To have a document that says men with guns can’t come into my home & rip me from the people I love. There’s messed up shit happening everywhere. Maybe we should meditate on that more often. Maybe we should focus on anxiety rather than relaxation. Maybe we’d feel better if we did more to treat people how we want to be treated. It’s hard imagine that this pristine place that I was at a little over two weeks ago has been burning from the #caldorfire this is my favorite section of the Tahoe Rim Trail & it feels I’m losing part of a home in some sense. After losing my mom & sister, I’ve found healing here and annually spend 3 weeks backpacking Tahoe area over the past 5 years. From the update I heard earlier today there were over 400 residential homes lost to the Caldor Fire. One fire fighter Richard Gerety III, a volunteer firefighter for the West Stanislaus County, was severely burned over the weekend. (Please go find his go fund me he has wife and baby and is expected to be in the hospital for a month) there tragedies all right now but this fire is really hitting me hard, and imagine the people losing their homes. #tahoe is sacred to so many of us and I share this because for all us who love this place. Now we face a moment of uncertainty of grief & of unity. It’s not just a resort, it’s a place of healing, a home, a sacred land to Washoe people long before the United States was a thing. It’s magic & serenity incarnate. We are thankful for the firefighters on the front lines and empathetic to those who’ve lost homes or are facing the possibility.
