Please help my family
My family has been severely struggling from awful luck at every turn. My boyfriend has stomach cancer and between that and other injuries he's sustained over the past while we've both had to lose a lot of days of work and we've been very behind on everything because of it.
Now to make matters worse, we found out yesterday that we have until late March to find somewhere else for us and our two kids to live.
We're already behind as it is and we have literally no money to afford a deposit+rent+utility deposits+renting a uhaul cause we still have no transportation.
Please help us get together the money to dig ourselves out of this hole.

Too often, people believe homelessness is due to some type of character flaw. In reality, that’s not even close. The top causes being…
1. A lack of affordable housing
2. Unemployment
3. Poverty
4. Low wages

Head canon that Kai was homeless at some point post-season 3 pre-season 4 and has a back pack full of clothes, extra cash he squirreled away, a fake identity, and other necessities in case he became homeless again.

Every time people talk about how “impossible “ it is to tackle housing the homeless I think about cruise ships . No I am suggesting we house the homeless on cruise ships , that’s dumb for many many reason . No what I think is the fact that even the smaller cruise ships can easily accommodate five thousand people and that’s with the enormous slight of their space dedicated to theatres restaurants and casinos . So think about to . A cruise ship the size of slightly larger then average apartment complex can house five thousand people
Do you know how long it takes to build a pre fabricated cruise cabin? 40 minutes . That’s right 40 minutes
So yes you can very easily and cheaply build modular large shelters with pre fabricated rooms which can easily come in different sizes from one person room to family room . A room with your own bathroom which you can lock so the homeless people can feel safe and not worry about being assaulted or have their property being stolen .
And this wouldn’t be that expensive to build either since this would be a building on land and not a ship and you don’t need anything fancy. Just living space , utilities and security . You can quite easily build it for quite likely less then $25mil ,considering you don’t have to pay for the land since it would be city property . And it could be even cheaper if instead of private greedy companies you get the military to build it ( seriously those guys do shit when they are not at war , why not put them to work and actually get your tax money ‘s worth “)
But I can already hear some of you saying “ Why I should I pay for the homeless ? Nobody is giving me free rooms even if they are tiny “ Well right now the cost the tax payers for one homeless person is between $35-40k an year . So how much would five thousand homeless people cost ? That would $175 000 000. So building them a proper shelter where they can live like civilised beings in safety and be able to get back in their feet ? That would save you as a tax payer $150 000 000
And I hear a certain demographic going “The homeless will just trash their building “ Yes someone of them absolutely will trash their rooms and cause immense amount of problems . That’s just how mental illness , addiction and being treated as subhuman by society works . But even with some of them regularly trashing their rooms , even with the security you will need for the building this will still not cost anymore then at most $5 million an year and this is grossly overestimating the price which means that you as a tax payer still save $145 million
So why not simply do it ? Because there is no political will. That’s it . There is more then enough money , there is lore the enough city property , changing zoning is not that impossible. It can all be done but people hate the homeless so much they would rather waste billions then help them

actually your parents were just bitches, give money to the homeless. if you're so scared about them using your money for drugs, buy them a meal. buy them socks, blankets, hygiene products, clothes, water. if they have a pet buy food for them as well.
its horrifying to me how normalized it is to see people living on the street, and just walk by them with a disgusted glance. i dont care how they got there. i dont care what they're doing to get out of the situation. if you have control of your money, if you have enough to spare. what reason is there not to help them, even if it's just a bit?

Hey Everyone,
I’m searching for a fic that I was certain I bookmarked. It’s a decently longer story about May Parker becoming ill with cancer. Her and Peter have to move to a shelter for a while. Tony seems distant and has no idea what is actually happening. Peter gets caught up with a guy who is a friend, but Tony is convinced he is a drug dealer. Tony ends up paying for May’s treatment and takes Peter in. I can’t find it for the life of me. It was a good story. Hopefully this is enough info to go on.
Thank you
could it be any of these?

Suella Braverman decided that advocating for a genocide wasn't enough.
She wants to target unhoused people.
Wanting to crackdown on "nuisance" tents by fining people and fining charities aiding them.
Saying its fine for her to do because sleeping rough is a "lifestyle choice" and "isn't necessary."
Which is so out of touch and disgusting.
Especially when the weather is freezing, people are struggling enough without her making it harder for them.
Labour MP Jess Phillips puts it best:
"My brother was a rough sleeper, unlike Suella Braverman he has dedicated his life in gratitude to the fact he still has it to the service and help of others.
He'd be a better home secretary than her but then again a cardboard box would be a better home secretary than her."
Agreed, just gotta find that cabbage to replace Rishi and we're all set.

Ok so I've known things have been bad in this country for homeless people but, getting my learners permit yesterday has given me the context necessary to put this into perspective. So bear with me this might be a long post.
Issue 1: There is no public transport in the vast majority of this country. No trains, no busses, not even taxis. The closest we get is Uber which still doesn't cover some areas. This means that to get a job you either have to live within walking distance of your job, or own a car.
Issue 2: In cities due to zoning laws business aren't allowed to be built in the same district as residential buildings, which prevents living within walking distance of your job. Most businesses don't build outside of city limits, so if you were born in a suburb or a rural area you can also rule out walking to work.
Issue 3: Minimum wage works out to about $1,625 a month. Average rent works out to about $1,320 a month for a 2 bedroom apartment. The average house costs about $410,200. Meaning if you have a roommate taking on half of the rent, after rent each month you have $965 left over. Minus roughly $400 for groceries is $565. As we've already established that you need a car to exist in this country let's subtract the average of $915 for car related expenses (gas, insurance, payments on the car because lets be honest there is no way you will be able to afford it up front) and we have suddenly run out of money.
Issue 4: let's talk about getting a license, not the car itself just the license. You will need, your social security card, your birth certificate, 2 proofs of residency, and $25. But what if you are homeless? No proof of residency, no license. Also you have to get someone to drive you there because there is no way you live within walking distance of the DMV, and as we've already established, there is no public transport. But wait there is more. I'm not sure how it works elsewhere, but in my state you have to have had your beginners permit for 3 months before you can apply. So before you can get your license repeat the previous steps 3 months in advance except it only cost $5 this time. You also have to provide your own car for the driving test which leads to a fun catch 22 in that you have to have a job to afford a car, but as we've established you have to have a car to get to your job.
Issue 5: while being homeless isn't technically illegal sleeping in your car is, as is public camping, and begging for money. Benches are being removed. Spikes are being installed under rain shelters. A large percentage of businesses won't hire people with a criminal record, and when you can be arrested for sleeping in the only shelter available to you it can become nearly impossible to get a job to escape homelessness.
Issue 6: homeless shelters are rife with abuse. Homeless people in them often face sexual harassment and abuse, racial discrimination, and sometimes theft by either other shelter residents or caretakers. Not to mention the difficulty of getting into a shelter. They can place a limit on how many personal belongings you can bring with you. They can turn you away if you have any drugs in your system. Many don't allow pets. Many don't have accommodations available for the disabled. Many don't have the facilities to deal with many mental illnesses, several of which are caused in part by being homeless.
