They also say they don’t like how unrealistic 9-1-1 is in the thread.
The tik tok firefighters have said nothing about hating 911. That was a random commenter. We don't know how they feel so it's a little rude to presume.
Exactly! It's also rude to presume they fuckin' each other too. Idc how many comments they personally have look at the ones laid before you.

What would you call his behaviour then? He stuck Buck in a corner and tried to make himself look bigger. He was INCHES from Buck’s face. He was constantly degrading him and telling him his feelings didn’t fucking matter. You do realize that’s the same pattern of abuse that makes people like Doug, right? We’ve never seen Eddie be that bad. Probably never will, because they never acknowledge his abusive tendencies, but he talked to Maddie in the same way Eddie spoke to Buck.
Abuse isn’t just physical. It’s verbal. It’s emotional. It’s mental. And to make things even worse, he didn’t even apologize or look like he felt bad (which honestly could be attributed to Ryan’s shit acting, but I digress), he used his son to get Buck to stop being angry at him. And he does it EVERY. SINGLE. TIME.
And making this a ship thing? Really? I know BUDDIES who agree. Crackshippers. My own parents, one of whom doesn't even WATCH the show, just knows the context and saw the clips, agree it’s abuse.
But you want to bring ships into it? Okay. Fine. If Tommy did the same things Eddie did in this episode, y’all would be on his ass for it (like you should with anyone who displays abusive behaviours). But no. Because it’s “Buddie” (really, who names a ship that? It sounds platonic as hell), you act like it’s cute or has sexual tension or they’re acting like an old married couple. You villainize Tommy over literally nothing, but the second Eddie does something ACTUALLY problematic, y’all just brush it off????
And then y’all call us racist because “we’re implying a Latino man is aggressive.”
Maybe aim that at Ryan and the writers who decide it’s okay to have him canonically aggressive and violent.
Y’all seriously need to get some help if you think this is normal behaviour because it’s not.
was debating about keeping it in my drafts. but even if no one sees it or whatever i need to get this out of my chest
i just saw that someone — probably bucktommys — changed the cast information and listed Eddie Diaz as an abuser (thankfully someone changed it back). Fuck you all — this has gone way too far for a fucking ship war.
Stop trivializing abuse just because of a ship, or because you seriously lack media literacy — or even basic understanding of humanity and the reality of making mistakes.
Yes, Eddie was wrong in how he handled things, and he acknowledged that. Even if he didn’t outright apologize, he showed regret for what he said. So comparing Eddie to Doug? Calling him abusive? Changing IMDb to list him as an “abuser”?
What the actual fuck is wrong with you? This is disgusting behavior. Abuse is not something to trivialize just so you can have a “gotcha” moment to prove your ship is better. You seriously need to grow the fuck up and show some basic human decency. It’s totally okay to dislike a character because of their actions — but what people are doing right now is not okay in the slightest.

MAJOR SAESON 8 SPOILERS:
I'm seeing another of push back on Tim Minear for his decision to kill of a main character, and his defense of making it realistic is kind of weak given everything about the show, but I don't think he was wrong for doing it.
I live for the Booby Nash Captain/Dad moments but recently the show has become so repetitive and satgnat. Despite the fact that characters were going through something, we never saw any development. We saw Eddie leave and apologize, but how did he change from that? What behavior is he exhibiting that stems from what he learned from losing Chris aside from standing up to his parent? Buck's break up was pushed to the side AGAIN and at this point feels like despite his changes he's always in the same situation. Maddie and Chim were traumatized in this recent season and we got one episode of the struggle afterwards, and nothing else. There is no risk in the show and the characters don't Have to grow.
Killing off an MC gives them a platform to really have characters arcs that make a difference to their personalities and how they react to situations. I think Grey's Anatomy took that concept too far with everyone except the MC being killed off, but in a profession with real risks like that it's important to address it. I feel like 9-1-1 Lonestar manges to do that pretty well and even the loss of side characters close to the MCs still cause significant changes in their lives and reactions.
Anyway feel free to tell me if u agree of disagree, I just felt bored with the show recently and figured that was why, but after this I feel more invested now🤷‍♀️

I agree. I also want to add that in procedurals especially, this is EXTREMELY common. Some deaths are a lot less well done than this was. Bobby was a fire captain. Who sacrificed his life for his team. Like. THIS was a death that was well done, that made sense both for the character and for the storyline.
Not to mention- Bobby’s storyline was almost done anyway. What else would they do with him after the house is done? His story was coming to an end. And Athena’s was too, until this happened. This opened up so many storylines for her and everyone else and it’s going to make things a lot more interesting going forward.
I know people are sad right now, but please try and think about this. Killing Ravi? People would be sad but the stakes wouldn't feel that high, and only really Buck would be severely impacted. Chim? Maddie, Hen, Bobby and Buck, but not Eddie. Hen? Karen, Chim and Bobby but not as much with Buck and Eddie. Tommy? Buck, Hen and Chim.
Bobby dying though? That affects EVERYONE.
i'm seeing a lot of people angry, downvoting the episode and calling it the worst episode ever and that it was a huge mistake. and i'm not gonna invalidate anyone's feelings over the episode, however i wanna say: yes, a beloved character's death is terrible and is always gonna be a heavy blow. i've been in fandoms for almost two decades and i've watched so many characters go, some of them who were very dear to me and made me stop watching the show completely after they were killed off. and you're free to do so with 911 if that's what you need. but that's how it goes sometimes. losing characters can be devastating and it can feel completely pointless, but it also can make for interesting storylines. 911 has been going on for a while with the same formula now, and i feel like after 8 seasons it's not a bad time for a shake-up. it opens up new opportunities for everyone, and as harsh as it sounds, makes room for new characters which can be refreshing when a show is nearing its 9th season. sure, bobby could've just retired, but you can prepare for retirement. you can't prepare for death (in most cases, not really) and that's where it shakes not only us to the core, but the characters too. we're going to see them trying to adapt to this new situation, and they're going to struggle and maybe even fail at first. but it's the journey of the characters we're watching for. we want to see where the journey takes them, how they overcome their struggles, how they grow from them, what kind of relationships and connections they form on the way, and eventually, how their story ends. and i know it feels unfair that bobby's story ended here, and so abruptly too. but that's the cruel and very real thing about death. it's inevitably part of our real life's journey too. we're going to lose people on our way. i've seen fans make fun of how unrealistic 911's storylines and emergencies are, and now that something very realistic -- a firefighter dying on the job as he's saving his team, his family -- happens, fans are mad. and i mean, you're allowed to be mad, cry, and grieve. but i also respectfully ask you to realize that bobby received one of the most dignified character deaths i've ever seen. it was emotional, beautifully tragic, and true to bobby's character. i'm also incredibly thankful they made it clear that it had nothing to do with his suicidal tendencies. he didn't want to go. he didn't give up. he chose to save his family. something he couldn't do when his old family died in a fire he caused.
they could've handled this so much worse because trust me, i've seen shows treat their traumatized (and/or queer) characters like shit and kill them off in unsavory ways. but that wasn't the case here. am i an emotional wreck? yes. do i feel absolutely gutted? yes. from an emotional perspective, what happened in that episode was absolutely devastating and awful. but narratively? it's good cinema. stories about love are most compelling when there's also loss. titanic wouldn't have been the banger it was if no one had died.

Now that I've slept and can kind of rationalize what we all experienced last night I do want to say that I think it's tragically beautiful to show what first responders experience every day in the raw, unfiltered way they did in 8x15.
There's a responsibility there to portray the sacrifices men and women in this line of work make every single day of their lives. They run into danger with no guarantee they'll be safe, no promises that they'll be spared from whatever disaster surrounds them. Making it Bobby's choice to save his team is fucking gut wrenching but extremely powerful. It was either Bobby or the entire 118 because if the military knew he was infected, there is no way in hell they would have gotten them out.
I understand being mad. Being sad, crushed, in disbelief... but being pissed that Bobby died is a disservice to who Bobby is and was.
I see people screaming that this ruined the show and ruined the element of found family that the show has explored, beautifully I might add, but do you not understand that Bobby died doing the only thing he never thought he'd get a chance to do: SAVING his family.

Do you Buck will suggest to call Tommy for help? Or do you think they will just call his station to help and Tommy will be working that shift?
Let’s ask the audience:

Nothing wilder than being on the outside of a popular non-canon ship (the kind that's taken deathly seriously not the kind where people are just like 'hehe what if they kissed') where as far as you can tell the entirety of the appeal seems to be a bunch of people being like “friends don’t do that!!!!!!!!” but the thing they're doing is like … being nice to each other. Spending time together. Occasionally making eye contact, the dirty sluts.
