I honestly forgot that the Greek Parthenon had a god of sleep in its ranks (mostly cause I don't practice any religion or belief and km pretty neutral on all things spiritual)
I remember glossing over the same Hypnos while going down internet rabbit holes
Something about him is just so comforting to me, knowing that concept of a god of sleep exists. Maybe it's cause I've been connected to sleeping all my life. If I was ever stressed, I'd sleep or if I was at school, I'd still sleep.
People away as a joke that there hobby is sleeping but lowkey I don't think its much of a joke for me anymore 😭 I've always just loves sleeping anyways and my dreams have always been vivid. I use to keep a digital dream journal on my phone but my phone broke so it's gone rip
For some reason, whenever I think of Hypnos, I just think of a soft muted baby blue and milk white colours. It's very calming
What's Hypnos like when he comes to visit your dreams?
Seems I’m not the only one with that connection :) I 100% agree with the baby blue and milk white association! Hypnos has always been a comforting figure to me, when I was younger I’d even use sleep to cope with my life. When it comes to my dreams, Hypnos is like a fatherly figure who’s as kind and gentle as a breeze or a hand that cups your face when you’re sleepy. Sometimes He may have more intense forms such as in serious dreams/nightmares, or even silly forms in the kind of dreams you get when you take Benadryl
In all of them, He is something I must follow or a symbol of love and comfort

TW: Suicide ideation
This anon has depression and is losing the battle. Are there any prayers to Hypnos? I know it's not his job but I don't really resonate with any of the other gods like I do with him
Anon you aren’t a burden to Hypnos, you never will be and even asking for something will bring Him much joy. Allow Him to help you, you can’t burden a god ever. Asking for resources from me will not burden me either.
There are no prayers already written specific to your struggle, however I can make one.
“To everlasting Hypnos, God of healing; may you bring me strength in my life of need. Be my rest in this time of hardship, lead me into your warm feathered embrace. Hypnos deliver me into the dreams of peace you offer. May I find liberation in sleep and wake with the power to endure. May you be with me at my side, guide me Hypnos whose throne is found in a field of poppies. Guide me through, and may I be loved by you as much as I love you. Thank you for listening to this prayer.”
be strong anon
Hypnos is with you always, He will listen whenever and wherever. Hypnos loves you infinitely and for eternity 💙

THIS TEMPLE IS ANTI TERF/RADFEM/GENDER CRITICAL
There is a large TERF issue in hellenism communities, I'm not sure why considering how pro trans hellenism is, but I do want to say that no TERFS are welcome to The Temple of Hypnos. You're telling me Hypnos would support people who deny others their dreams? Hypnos would support terfs who bring harm and stress to trans people like me? Don't make me laugh. You're an insult to all hellenics, may you never rest and may you never dream

Oh that's beautiful :) I once spoke to Hypnos in a dream about my dysphoria and He smiled and pat my head and said "You'll always be my angel boy" and I woke up. He loves His trans devotees

So I'm a bit curious: - What drew you to dedicate yourself to Hypnos? - What is your practices with him like? - How do you two benefit each other (weird question ik)?
I'm sorry I didn't answer this before you got deleted for some reason! Hopefully, you see my answer later as these were very interesting questions.
When I was a child, I was very very obsessed with sleeping, dreams, and Hypnos Himself. I never knew why at the time, but I felt a strong connection to these things. Back then I wasn't hellenic, but I loved reading Greek Mythology. When I found out there was a God of Sleep, I wasn't just excited but I also felt an immediate connection to Hypnos as if I've known Him my entire life. I started to have dreams of meeting Him, and in every dream I had angel wings. We would talk about helping others and healing and forming dreams. He'd also help guide me in my troubled life. The benefits from it are just His love and guidance, and in return I devote myself fully to Him.
As for practices, I mostly pray and create art to Him. I also love to interpret dreams. I also feel like my work in healthcare is devotion to Him as He is the healer. I also found out I was angelkin to Him later in life

Personal Associations are fun! Many don’t realize but Hypnos never originally was associated with Lavender as that wasn’t well known for sleep in Ancient Greece(instead for healing wounds), that’s more of something over time we added as we associated it with sleep
Create your own mythology
No seriously
The poets of our mythology worshipped these deities too, if they create it why can't you?
Recognize the symbolism of the gods, recognize the symbolism of these tales. I consider my play of my dnd character Saix to be a devotional act to Hypnos, as he was a cleric to Remnus(God of Sleep), and ended up taking the role of sleep god for Himself. Do not be too strict, for the symbols of the Gods are fluid in their interpretation.
They will love what you do to literature that features them, even if it may put them in an "evil" light, in hellenism there isn't pure good or evil, only balance

I’m glad :) Welcome then!
Welcome to the Temple of Hypnos, a sacred place of worship to the God of Sleep.
This is a digital temple one may return to whenever and wherever. All are welcome to the Temple of Hypnos, mind that this is a safe place for all systems, non-humans, queer people, and people of color. Bigots will not be tolerated as this is a space of healing.
Our Mission Statement:
{It is our goal to create a community in which worship and devotion to Hypnos is held in a safe and soothing space. We honor Hypnos through offerings, prayers, discussion, and more. There is no strict path in the worship of Sleep, for all perspectives are welcome here.}
I, Ardyn, am the Cleric of this temple. I am sleep angelkin and have been alongside Hypnos since before this life. You may refer to me using He/It/Dark/Sleep pronouns. I'm a genderqueer intersex transfem trans man. This is not just my place of worship, but yours. I have made this for all of us, may we rejoice before the winged deity, Hypnos.
As this is your place of worship, you may submit any form of devotion. You may also ask or discuss anything you desire that is related to Hellenism or Hypnos. This may include art, prayers, experiences, offerings, poetry, spells, dreams, and more to present within the temple. Community events may be held, and more is to be added as we grow.
To all who come across this blog; May you all be presented with loving dreams tonight and ever so gentle rest. Blessed be Hypnos.

When I used to worship Hypnos more actively, I used to drink Chamomile tea in his honor to help me sleep. Gosh, I should actively worship him again. He’s great.
Ah I love Chamomile tea! The lavender tea I use has it infused into it along with the lavender. And He is great :), you don’t need to actively worship Him, a prayer every now and then and an acknowledgement would make Him just as happy
