the thing is that it’s actually kind of important that dennis isn’t a serial killer. that he’s just some fucking guy who sucks and preys on women. like sure I’m being pedantic about articles referring to him that way but it matters!!!!!!!

dennis is the vehicle for much of the feminist satire present in sunny and making him out to be an evil genius killer is not only factually wrong but also defeats the fucking point. it matters that dennis is just some guy. because most misogynists are just some guy. the vast majority of men who hurt women are not conniving sociopaths. they are normal people. dennis’s behavior is obviously over the top because it’s satire but to chalk up behavior that deliberately reflects patriarchy/misogyny/etc to “he’s ted bundy lol” is just really missing the entire point. the implication was not him displaying exceptional evil. it was him displaying a heightened version of what ~regular~ men do all the time. the entire premise of the show is that these are heightened versions of shitty things that people do all the time, but for some reason it’s impossible for people to understand that when it comes to dennis. he has to be a special evil psychopath instead of a pathetic dysregulated misogynist. if you’re going to miss the point that hard I need you to get glenn howerton’s name out of your damn mouth. ugh

anyways i am very passionate about wilson being canonically queercoded and written as the classic Repressed Guy but where wilson's Repressed Guy stuff blatantly comes into play for me is everytime he meddles in house's romantic life and often insists that house make an effort to be with these women and scolding him when he doesn't try to work it out with them, because that's what wilson has been doing in all his own marriages and he just desperately wants house to Be Normal (aka with a woman) so they can be Normal Guys Together, Nothing Weird Going On Here, We Both Have Wives, Don't Pay Any Attention To Our Codependency! so wilson won't have to stare down the barrel of the What If We Were More gun because he's forcibly removing that option from them

It's one of the last few things we can have as a society that's free. You can engage, for free. People give you things (art, stories, etc), for free.

Don't buy into the consummerism just because it's everywhere else.

You don't have to consume everything you interact with. You don't have to use things, just because they exist.

You're allowed (still, for now), to have things that are enjoyable for free.

Do you realise how insane the world is? We don't have many places where we can just be, for free anymore, but ao3 is. Did you notice we don't have ads in ao3? We don't have pop ups? Where ELSE do we not have that?

Where else can you just go and not have to wait for a commercial to be over or for ads to be on the sidelines?

I don't think the younger people understand, but the whole of internet used to be like this. YouTubers would do Youtube for free, just because. You couldn't monetise your internet presence before.

Ao3 is like a little preserved corner of the internet where the old internet used to be, and it's being attacked by people who do not understand that free things are allowed to exist without judgment.

Please don't ruin this for us.
