Everest update! 🏔 ::: Of course in the current Covid situation any expedition can be cancelled anytime but for now I am still firmly told it’s going ahead. ::: The time is ticking and it’s getting closer and closer. Only 84 days till the official start day of the expedition but less for the preps as I’ll be flying there a few days earlier. ::: Still loads to sort out, second sleeping bag, mattress, glove liner, head torch are just a few of those remaining items on the list. Apart from that, I need to organise time off work, doctor visit, insurance, and more. And of course the training... bumping it up now, trail running in a day and cross trainer in the evening. And this weekend another hike, unfortunately just fairly local due to the lockdown restrictions 😤 This time I won’t be going for the distance but for the altitude gain, let’s see how much I can do in one weekend. “New year new me”, “New Year’s reduction” or “dry January”... anyone still on it? ::: It seems like a lot of people are fed up with those cliche phrases which are often broken soon after the New Year, but I’m in support. Even if that means you quit drinking for a week, or start eating healthy for a couple of days then why not, it’s better than nothing, but most importantly, at least you’re trying. Trying is far better than complacency, or complete lack of motivation... “I won’t try cause it won’t work anyway” that’s far worse approach, so whatever works to make you change for at least a couple of days... do it! Not really sure how to sum up this year... good for some, bad for others, but no doubt very different. But we all know it so no point to waffle. This is my happy face when I finally caught up on my #100days100runs challenge. After 43 days, I’m finally on 43 runs 💪💪 though the hardest will be to get through Christmas. I’m sure there will be plenty of eating and not much of being active, or at least that’s the plan. Have you ever dropped something and knew you’re never gonna get it back? This was the moment for me 😂😂 ::: Luckily it was just a lease cover. As soon as I dropped it it rolled down the sloppy rock and down to the valley. Imagine though if it was something far more valuable, like your phone? I can’t even think of the feeling. 🤨 ::: I remember it once happened to my friend. He dropped it into the water, had it in a waterproof case, but it was too deep for him to dive down for it. Happy Friday. Best time of the week? Apparently so! When I was a little girl there was a fortune teller machine that read from your palm that came to my hometown. Obvs very curious I got my mum to buy me a ticket. I don’t exactly remember what result it showed except that one thing that stuck to my head... that Friday is my happy day. Funny enough even as a little girl, I knew what BS that was. How hard can it be to convince someone that Friday is their best day given the prospect of two full days off ahead. Ever since the young age I applied the same sceptical thinking to other believe concepts, like astrology and horoscope, superstition, or even creation of the world and god. ::: What are your thoughts? Pen Y Fan is the highest peak in South Wales and one of the 4 we hit last Friday. Such a cool little circular walk, really recommend it... but outside the season. We booked a long weekend to go to the Lake District, though the due to bad weather forecast we ended up in Wales instead. First stop was Brecon Beacons. My first and hopefully not last proper session on this beauty. Started off pretty wonky. As I paddled to the left the board was going right.
