The other night husband and I were watching a documentary about the yeti where they were doing DNA analysis of samples of supposed yeti fur, and every one of them came back as bears.

Anyway, the next night we watched a thing about some pig man who is supposed to live in Vermont. People said it had claws and a pig nose but walked upright like a man. Now, I happen to know that sideshows used to shave bears and present them as pig men. So every piece of evidence they gave of this monster sounds to me like a bear with mange.

So now the running joke in our house is that everything is bears. Aliens? Bears. Loch Ness monster? Bear. Every cryptozoological mystery is just a very crafty bear.

Bears. They’re everywhere. Be wary. Anyone or anything could be a bear.

Ok but hear me out, what if during the second half of Purgatory, after reconciling about Tubbo's involvement with Green, Bad realized what's holding him back is his attachment to the other teams as friends and family. So he told Tubbo to think of the entire event as a big chess game, with players as the pawns.

Tubbo hated the idea, hated dehumanizing his own friends and desensitizing himself to their pain,,,

But he was not a liar, and he tried it, and it worked. It worked so well he came out bloodied and bruised, except most of the blood wasn't even his own, it was the king's, the rook's, the queen's, the knight's. And he hated how proud he felt every time the king toppled, feathers ruffled and mask broken.

And he hated how that suggestion, that specific idea, stuck with him for years. Stuck for so long, on another turf, on another server, he wanted the blood of his own friends, how he was his own pawn to be sacrificed to create a queen.
