So this is the mini-figure I use for Torin Ironshield, the main character in all my D&D campaigns. He's a 311 year old ex-mercenary gold dwarf cleric from the Giant's Run Mountains, over 700 miles east of Baldur's Gate. Torin was married to Ilde and together they had three sons before his entire family was tragically killed by a marauding party of trolls. Since that time Torin has wandered, first from the island of Mintarn then north to Neverwinter where he was employed in the City Watch, fighting in the Orc Wars and working in Mirabar, Adbar and the Gauntlgrym. Torin originally began as the generic dwarf cleric character from the Lost Mine of Phandelver box set but over time he's grown in experience and magical aptitude, in the company of his fellow mis-fit adventurers, as they campaign throughout the northern regions of the Sword Coast. Sadly his axe-throwing skills have still not improved. Well, we had another great night @thebookandrecordbar last Friday. What a lovely evening it was. Beautiful music, beautiful people, beautiful beer @canopybeerco and gin! In reverse order of playing were @bennettvaluks @sherikasherard Jo Griggs & Tom Poslett @jogriggsmusic and @backroomscene . @willdixonmusic joined Bennetvaluks for the second time on bass and we were also treated to some poetry by... It was a joy to bump into @alexseelmusic, such a genuinely nice bloke and @houseabovethesun. Even though the night would be classed as folk, once again there was such variety in the styles, both musically and lyrically from the thoughtful ballads of @backroomscene to the funky loved up and soulful compositions of Sherika to the wonderful social and personal observations of Tom Poslett to the creations of Ian Bennet, Ben Valuks and wild Will Dixon which bounce from the deeply reflective and poignant to the downright playful. Well done all and here's to the next one! Last Friday night was a pretty special treat as we celebrated Burns Night locally at @thebookandrecordbar For drinks we were spoiled with class single and blended malts, Dalwhinnie and @monkeyshoulder accompanied by four class acts from south of the river. Sadly we missed some of the first act, making the mistake of thinking it'd take a while to warm up (it was sold out) but what we heard we liked. The music of the next band @bennettvaluks was both beautiful and uplifting whilst the finger-picking style and bluesy-folk vocals of @alexseelmusic enthralled. The indie folk-rock of @houseabovethesun charmed the crowd as the musical part of the evening came to a satisfying end. The evening was far from over though and until 1am The Book & Record Bar, the conversations were as varied as the tomes and vinyl of The Book & Record Bar that surrounded us. All in all, a beautiful evening of music with beautiful people.
