LADY MIDNIGHT : A REVIEW

Lady midnight is a young-adult novel, written by Cassandra Clare. Telling the story about the shadowhunter world, Clare made you explore through their journeys. It all started out when Andrew Blackthorn was killed in the mortal war and two of his oldest children; Mark Blackthorn and Helen Blackthorn were separated from the Blackthorns.  His second-oldest son, Julian Blackthorn, was the one who took care of his brothers and sisters.

Emma Carstairs was a parabatai of Julian Blackthorn. They became parabatai since they were 10, to be exact after the dark war. But, when they grew up, they realized something; they loved each other, which is forbiddened.

“Everyone is more than one thing,” said Kieran. “We are more than single actions we undertake, whether they be good or evil.”

Then the disaster happened. Kieran and Gwyn, faeries, were visiting the Blackthorns. They offered a deal which is they are going to free Mark Blackthorn back if the Blackthorn could solve a case, which is, a pattern on dead bodies of humans and faeries. This draws Emma’s attention because her parents also died having similiar of patterns.

Who is the face behind all of this? Will Emma stop loving Julian or not? Will there be any love triangles, like the previous Clare’s work, TMI and TID? Will the Blackthorns survive? Will Emma survive?

At first, i didn’t thought that i would read Clare’s work again when i finished TMI. Honestly, TMI wasn’t my favorite book. But, I finished reading Lady Midnight without any bored moments! Yay!

In my opinion, this book is rated 8.5/10. The thing that drew my attention when i read the synopsis is the Carstairs family name, which is the family name of one of my favorite character in TID, Jem Carstairs. After all, I personally loved this book. I totally loved Tiberius Blackthorn! Clare has giving me feels that cause me sobbing at 12 am. Again, her writing skills amazed me. I love how she creates more and more and more books with different plot but in the same world.

Julie is playing us. She wants us to think that things are too good for Yousef and Sana. She is distracting us from something we are missing. I believe Yousef and Sana are end game. Things going so well between them isn’t odd. Julie isn’t going to waste the build up between the both of them for them not to be endgame. She is depicting what many don’t think is a reality. That a Muslim girl can choose who she likes, that Muslim men are kind and loving, and that a love story can exist as pure as theres. Will there be possible tension between them soon because of outside factors? I wouldn’t rule it out. But I’m team Yousana till the end.
