a lot of people think that queen kristina is a homophobic witch and bad all around and she hates wilhelm, but i’m not sure about that. i don’t think it’s fair to take her at face value.

i think the queen has lost touch with what’s really important. she’s been in the royal life for most of her life, and it’s changed her way of thinking. she says that “when you’re young, love feels like the most important thing in the world.” love IS the most important thing in the world (at least that’s what i think, but that’s another conversation for another day) and she’s just been in position of having to put duty over love to see that.

also, when she comes to see wille after the video release, she says that she doesn’t him to see simon for the time being. meaning temporarily. she says it will only set off new rumors. i think the worries about rumors are purely in their reputation’s interest, but she doesn’t say forever.

she’s just lost touch with her emotions, because that’s what being a royal does to you. you can see it happening to wille all throughout the show. i think it’s progressed less because he went to a normal high school, but you can still see it in most of his behaviors. the way he’s able to cover up what looks to me like an oncoming panic attack after he leaves the movie (which simon, being an empath, sees right through). the way he holds it totally together in the days following his brother’s death. if you hold back your emotions enough, you tend to stop feeling them altogether. your emotions are sacred. don’t hold them back.

she cares about her son, just not in a way she can express for him to understand. she’s trying to protect his future because that’s all she can see-she doesn’t understand his emotions.

(not to mention that she’s still processing the death of her first child but that’s an entirely different post.)

Yes, the Young Royals got me, too. And I’ve been thinking this a lot, it must have been horrible for Simon to hear that Wille said he’s not on the video. And then to hear him say that they can be together but as a secret. I just hope Simon can take this all.

Yes, Wilhelm was betrayed by August and his mom. But let's not forget that he betrayed Simon first. Before anyone comes for me, I completely understand the pressures that led him to do it. However, to find that your boyfriend, who promised to do the right thing 3 times, ended up denying the relationship and you get to know of it through news would have shattered anyone. Simon's heart must have been broken into pieces that he didn't even get a courtesy call/text from Wille before he decided to drop this bomb on national television.

I want to believe Wilhelm didn't tell Simon in advance because he knew Simon would either convince him back to not do it or Simon's sadness would stop him from doing what needed to be done for the Crown. So he just went ahead with it, hoping Simon would forgive him (again).

Here’s a hug for those of you who came out and just got a “Well, okay” or “That’s none of my business” as a reply. 

It might seem like a pretty ideal way for a coming-out to go - at least they didn’t get mad at you! But it can still feel uncomfortable or confusing. 

You opened up about something that’s important to you. You were probably nervous, excited, scared (or a mixture of all three!). Maybe you have thought about telling them for a long time, prepared for all kinds of questions they might have… and now you’re kind of hanging in the air. All those feelings have no place to go. 

You may be unsure if they’re really okay with it or if they just hoped it will “go away” if they don’t acknowledge it. Or you may feel like you’re not really as important to them as you thought you were, if they don’t even care/want to hear about it. Perhaps you know they meant well and thought that’s the best way to reply but you wanted to talk about your feelings and now you don’t know how to bring it up again. 

No matter why: It’s okay to feel hurt or confused about a reaction like that.

You are not owed the specific details of a queer persons identity if the person doesn't want to share those details with you.

Literally, demanding that a person share details about their gender and/or sexuality that they aren't ready to share (or may not have even figured out yet) because not knowing makes you "uncomfy" is invasive, creepy, and entitled as fuck.

Coming out as queer is perfectly valid--and no less significant or important than coming out as lesbian or gay is.

People who identity only as queer are every bit as much a part of our communities as lesbian and gay people are.

Discourse about a queer person's identity and whether or not a queer person is "reALly LgBT" or not is queerphobia. Full stop.
