THE GOLDEN ROACH

The world will praise your differences. As long as those differences make you stronger. Izuku has always been different. And it has always led to hatred and spit and turmoil. Because being quirkless means you are weak. It means you are wrong and flawed and destined to die out. A roach refusing to go extinct, living in the cracks, in the dark, polluting the world with a putrid dust. 

Izuku is the 10%. The few with no place. No power. No voice. And he is determined to change that. Not just for him, but for everyone. Roaches and all. 

Meanwhile, Eraserhead might have bitten off a bit more than he could chew, going after this new vigilante who, for some reason, is completely immune to his quirk, smarter than the Devil, and always wants to talk about his Pro Hero trading card collection. 

But then again… maybe his class could use one more chair?

Maybe the roaches have something to say.

I'm so excited to be announcing the start of my new fanfiction: a My Hero Academia webnovel called The Golden Roach!

This story centers around an AU where Izuku Midoriya is never given One For All and instead must learn to become a hero without any powers while also combatting the growing social unrest that hisses at the very idea of a quirkless hero. After all, not all problems in hero society can be solved with a flashy costume and a winning punch.

Sometimes it takes more than that.

Sometimes it takes a team.

A team that includes everybody. Bugs and all.

This story will focus on some heavy themes like discrimination, prejudice, civil unrest, social violence, and more. As well as the strength of heart it takes to overcome these challenges.

I can't wait to share this new journey with you all, and I'll be including tons of new fan-interaction! This includes an Ask-TheGoldenRoach blog where you can ask questions and have all your favorite characters answer them in short little comics as well as a Patreon including exclusive content like bonus chapters and fanart.

Everything opens up at the end of the month, including the Ask-blog, Patreon, and the story itself, debuting on fanfiction.net, AO3 and my own website (links will be available on debut day.)

God willing, chapters will be updated monthly and fanart/blog posts will be interspersed between.

The Chain - HIATUS

Hello all my wonderful readers and fans. I just wanted to keep you all updated on everything that's been going on. This year, I finally graduated nursing school and am starting my RN Residency program. As such, I am extremely busy and have started to feel that sense of burnout for all previous fanworks, including The Chain, my Avengers fanficfion of 6 years. So I will be taking a break.

IMPORTANT!

This does not mean I'm giving up on this. I spent 6 years of my life with these characters and I'm not letting them go. But I DO need to take a break and branch out with some other ideas I've been nurturing, including a brand new story I will be launching at the end of this month.

So, for now, The Chain is on break. I'm sorry if this disappoints a lot of you, but I really need this right now. I've always written for my own enjoyment and to keep that enjoyment, I just need to step away and try new things right now.

Thank you all for understanding and for all the years of support you've given me.

IMPORTANT NEWS: ABL TITLE CHANGE

Hey there my lovely readers. As you all know, my passion project A Beautiful Lie has been going on for about 5 years now, with this current name being in use for around 4 of those 5 years. But lately, I've felt myself fall out of love with this name and am strongly considering a name change. But I wanted to consult all of you first.

The Chain

Would be the new name. And yes, I have considered how it'll fit into the story and I actually like its relevance more than ABL. But again, I wanted to get your opinions on this since you all have as big a hand in this story as I do.

Please share your thoughts with me! I love to hear from you guys!

So, if you’re here, then you probably already know about my passion project: A Beautiful Lie (ABL). And that’s what we’re here to discuss!

Now, I’ve been writing stories and publishing on Fanfiction for as long as I can remember, and I’ve always loved it! The community, the connectedness of the readers and creators, the welcoming and wholesome environment – it’s all been amazing. But I never really considered that I could make a living off of what I make. Until now, that is.

As many of my readers know, I recently got into nursing school, which is amazing! And sometimes not – specifically when it comes to the amount of free time I now have, which is basically zero. As such, it gets harder and harder to find the time and motivation to write.

I think this page can help with that.

Now, with my current schedule and the availability of some scholarships that I’ve acquired, I do not have a steady stream of income right now, which will become an issue later when I pursue graduate school. As such, I decided that I wanted to take the skills and work that I put into the world and hopefully get a little something in return!

Now, something important to note is that the addition of this Patreon will NOT take anything away from my readers. I will not cut off your access to any new chapters nor will I make you pay to read my story. I started ABL to share my ideas with all of you and that alone gives me a joy I cannot put into words. Instead, I will be adding incentives and rewards to any readers who decide to donate to me. All the money I receive from this page will go towards fueling my motivation to continue writing and putting out the best quality work I possibly can and hopefully even allow me to publish on a more consistent schedule.

"The girl was sitting on a rusted bench outside the pawn shop, legs spread and arms dangling between them as she rested her elbows on her knees. Her skin was dark, black hair tied up into twin braids that draped down her back and brushed against her stomach, the tips dyed a dark red. She reached an arm up, hand bandaged like a boxer, and pinched the cigarette in her mouth between two fingers, pulling it out before blowing a stream of long gray smoke from her lips. Her other arm, littered with tattoos that wound up her shoulder, reached for her chest. With a finger, she gently flicked her necklace: three bullets tied together by a piece of tattered black string. It jingled.

He hadn't noticed it two weeks ago...the first time he'd seen her.

If Johanna had issue with the fact that he was now staring at her, she made no moves to show it. She merely twisted the cigarette between her fingers, tapped out a bit of ash, and popped it back into her mouth.
