I have this HC with omegaverse TWST where extremely traumatic events (e.g. overblotting) could cause someone's scent or even Alpha/Beta/Omega designation to change - with the severity of the change depending on the severity of the event. I think it's a fun detail that can tie into the world building of TWST :D

Oh that's a big brained HC!

I imagine all the OB being Alphas or Betas, but after their OB they change into omegas, and now they're demanding Yuu/reader to take responsibility because in some way, it's their fault. Their logic doesn't make sense but with the sudden change the OB characters are just trying to find a way to make sense of things and go keep Yuu around with them since their appearance followed back to back OB incidents.

But what if Yuu/reader, being from another world, doesn't adhere to the ABO dynamics...at first.

But after the seventh OB incident they could feel themselves changing. Ooohhhh~

I should think of a deltarune AU think - like there's multiple ways it can go and the whole idea of the light world and ark world could mesh really well with RSA being light and NRC being dark

Like, Yuu can be a lightener who gets lost in various dark worlds and builds up a main one that's basically NRC by bringing darkeners to that fountain. As for Grim, he can either be like a monster, a normal cat who gets powers in the dark world, or a plushie/keychain that Yuu takes with them everywhere. They're a duo travelling through all the dark worlds dealing with the fountains together.

(maybe each chapter, they have a different lightener accompanying them so they still form a trio idk. Also there are the first years who hop into Yuu's pocket when they head out so they can tag along and get up to hijinks in the different dark worlds)

With this, you can also incorporate the RSA characters. For example, Heartslabyul is a deck of cards (their dark world would be made up of teapots, toy treats, maybe various things you'd find in a toy box that are kinda odd or slightly broken) and Che'nya could be the only lightener they see occasionally because he has a habit of rooting through the old toy box and is the only one to give them attention.

Pomefiore could have Vil and Epel be something like one of those beautiful BJD dolls that are considered collectable and fragile, so they're kept away from reaching hands and in glass boxes so they'll be safe (like a little nod to Epel's UM) and Rook might be like a more common/well-loved doll that used to belong to Neige and was restored by a lightener who took him in after Neige's parents got rid of the old worn out doll to explain his Savannaclaw-to-Pomefiore glow-up.

Maybe in the dark world, Vil performs in music and acting and is considered ethereal/untouchable to mirror how he is in twst, but with Neige's introduction to the dark world, the darkeners living there begin to talk about Neige more than Vil (maybe if you use a certain ACT with Neige in your party, rumours start) and that creates a conflict with Vil. (Plus Neige doesn't recognise Rook because Rook's appearance changed so much since Neige's parents took him away idk)

Also maybe with Idia and Ortho, maybe Ortho was a lightener and Idia is like a gaming system/computer that Ortho would use all the time and even keep a diary on. Maybe there'd even be some kinda unfinished program on the device that Ortho made called 'Idia' that gives Idia his personality and identity as a big brother to Ortho.

As for why the program is unfinished...

(maybe Ortho could get Gersoned via an urn in the room his parents can't bear to enter and he's like the third party member for that chapter)

Ace HCs

it's been a bit since i did more headcanons so i figured i'd do Ace :]

if anyone has suggestions on who i should do headcanons for next lmk! I'd like to get to everyone at some point but there are some characters i don't know enough about yet asdfhkdjk (im only on book 5 😭)

ipad kid. Crusty, cheetoh dust covered fingers ipad kid. Ace usually has sticky or dirty fingers from chips or whatever else and is constantly reminded to go wash them

Arcade fiend. He spends all his money on tokens and hardly wins any tickets. He also loves those little gacha machines that are a couple quarters in stores (he gave Yuu a plastic ring from once)

Wears crocs and slides majority of the time & Riddle screams at him when he does it with his dorm uniform

Severe self-esteem issues, he's good at hiding it but he often thinks of how he is a "weak link" and how the others will probably leave him behind some day. He can spiral quickly into panic attacks but it's usually why he gets into shenanigans, to distract himself (sorryyy i had to give at least a bit of angst, i've seen too many fics where ace is incredibly self depricating not to)

He loves origami and is quite skilled at it, he makes swans, dragons, and roses for his dormmates and friends on the regular (Riddle keeps every single one in his room, he appreciates it incredibly when his juniors, or anyone, gives him a gift)

Ace will bring up controversial topics just to start an argument. He'd probably be good in a debate team but he doesn't think it'd be as fun

Has faked sick to get out of dorm chores. Yuu dared him to use a different excuse every time he wants to get out of them so now his excuses are getting wilder and wilder

I forgot this was in my drafts from a couple days ago ngl. How is everyone's last few days of school- or summer to you lucky people? ONE LEFT!!! Today and then tomorrow will be the last! But theyre half days and no ones going to go anywaayyyy but i digress.

the freshmen get cursed so that they start to "deteriorate" if they're not within each other's presences for more than a day.

the problem is that they're together so often and so frequently that they genuinely don't notice. sure, nighttime is a little rougher now than usual, but they chalk that up to the regular pains of being a night raven college student and, by proxy, constantly getting into fights.

then, one weekend, vil calls epel back to the dorm right after school ends, because a magazine is coming to do photoshoots of pomefiore, and they need to get the place looking as sparkling as possible... which means epel has to skip out on the first-years' weekly sleepover.

it's not too much of a problem, until 24 hours later when epel is trying to get a stubborn stain out of the wallpaper, and all of the sudden he starts spitting up blood.

Twst AU

Just an AU idea I thought of…

We know that all of the "Big Seven" are dead, including Maleficent (who is a fae and they live a long time).

We also know that NRC is a place where there is a huge amount of concentrated magic, so it is common to see ghosts at school.

And we know that even though Yuu is from our world, both in the game and in the manga, he doesn't remember the existence of the "Big Seven" and has never heard of them.

Yuu is not used to seeing all this magic, ghosts and curses. He is still learning how it all works.

But if everyone treats these things as normal, he will pretend that it is just another Tuesday. After all, Yuu can't worry about every detail while having to clean up after his friends (Adeuce + Grim) and do odd jobs for Crowley.

In this AU, Yuu sees the souls of the "Great Seven" wandering around their final dorms, it's hard to ignore, but he does, because as mentioned before, he doesn't have time for small details.

So, Yuu is ignoring the Queen of Hearts, while painting the roses of Heartstabyul for the first time.

Yuu is ignoring the King of Beasts taking a nap next to him in the bleachers of Savanaclaw while his friends play Spelldrive with the members there for invading the dorm.

Yuu is ignoring the Sea Witch who glares at him every time he goes to Octavinelle after the anemone mess after the exams before the holidays.

He is ignoring the Wizard of Scorching Sands every time he rolls his eyes or makes a mean comment about Kalim (Yuu had to stop himself from giving him a hard time during winter break).

And…

Yuu gives up!

By this point, all of the "Big Seven" have noticed that they can be seen, and Yuu has noticed that no one else can see them.

Yuu has gained enough basic knowledge of magic at this point to know that something is wrong!

But now, Yuu ignores them not because everyone else does it (or at least that's what he thought until recently), Yuu ignores them because he doesn't want to get into any more trouble.

And the "Big Seven" seem to be THE Problem!!!

Bonus: When Idia opens the gates of Tartarus in book 6, the NRC kids present can see Hades giving Yuu instructions so that he can get Idia out of the Overblot state with the others.

In other words, chaos ensues!

Entangled Fingers

This is connected to my post about promise rings.

Yuu's always known about the cruelties of the world, but this adventure has painted them in stark detail for them.

They've always prided themselves on being observant, on picking up the little details others might notice. So they know that Crowley was never planning on them succeeding, that he wasn't even expecting them to come back when they had left.

They know that Ace and Deuce trust them with their lives now and that they'd trust the two idiots with theirs.

And yet, something tugs at them when the two are leaving. The both of them seem so much stronger than Yuu, but at the same time, so much more vulnerable.

Such a strange juxtapositions...

But regardless, something tugs at them when the two leave and asks Yuu to call them back.

They don't, and they later regret it when Ace ends up with a collar around his neck

When Yuu pulls him into Ramshackle, they grab his hand and tangle their fingers together more than necessary. He doesn't comment on it and tangles his fingers back and pretends like they aren't shaking.

They pretend like they aren't trembling themselves, like a part of him doesn't want to grab him and Deuce and hold them tight and never let them go.

The raging storm in their chest starts then and lingers through the tart adventures, through the broken rules and collars lingering on their necks, through the black and red and rose bushes and fear always staining their dreams.

And yet somehow, it lessens when they first slide the ring onto their left pinky finger and never take it off after.

Ace likes to pretend that his hands aren't shaking when he wakes up from dreams of red and black and orange and sand and blood staining the rose petals and dripping into the sandy ground beneath him, but the truth of the matter is that he's always been a liar.

Yuu and Deuce see straight through him and always have and always will and normally he would hate that, hate the way that they cut straight through all of his carefully constructed barriers, but it helps sometimes when all he can remember is red and black and the rose bushes rushing straight for him and he still has to pretend like he's fine.

It makes him feel less alone when he smiles his strained, broken smile at Cater and Trey and Riddle and tries to pretend like his hands still aren't shaking.

He's always been a liar, but the ring on his left pinky finger has a story that he's never lied to himself about, and that's enough for now.

Deuce has to act strong in front of his mom. He's hurt her enough already and he's not going to hurt her anymore, even if that means lying to her when he says that he's okay.

He isn't okay and he hasn't been okay for a while now, but there's only two people he trusts to know this fact completely and intimately. There are only two people he trusts enough for him to be defenceless around and neither of them are the type of people he imagined he'd be friends with.

Ace is a frustrating liar and Yuu is hauntingly apathetic, but there's so much truth in how Ace faces them compared to other people and there's a spark in Yuu's eyes as they reach for him or Ace when they've been apart for a night and they tangle their fingers together like they haven't seen each other in weeks rather than hours.

And maybe, it settles the pain in his chest from lying to his mom. Maybe, he'd do anything for them, fall back into his delinquent habits for them, because going through hell and back together is something that ties people together more than anything else.

And the ring in his left pinky finger is a reminder that, despite it all, they've climbed into those deepest parts of the world and strode back out, together.

Jack isn't sure when he first noticed that he wasn't okay.

Was it the nightmares of sand and drowning, of orange and purple, of being choked by an ocean of sand that feels eerily reminiscent of the tumbling waves of black blot?

Was it the shaking of his hands when he woke up from one of them and fumbled with his clothes so much he tore one of his shirts and had to repair it later?

Or maybe it was Yuu, followed by Ace and Deuce like always, staring at him with that usual nothingness in their eyes, their scent being chased by the bitterness of apathy, but a spark that he's never seen before in them, staring him straight in the eyes and telling him that he wasn't okay?

He wasn't sure which is was, but he wasn't okay and the ring around his left pinky finger was proof of that, despite how much it helped him.

Epel doesn't know why he can't bounce back from this easily.

He's always bounced back quickly before. His cries fade away, his anxiety passes swiftly, his nightmares soon just fleeting memories. Only his anger has remained, flickering embers in his chest that flare to life easily.

And yet... this is a nightmare that hasn't passed by yet. It's real in a way that none of the others have been before, and he can tell by the scars etching his hands, the darker pulse of his veins, the way that waves of dizziness sometimes sway over him because of the poison still lingering in him.

There are more parts to it, he's sure, like the way he's both hot and cold at the same time, the way that his eyes feel darker, muddier now, the swirling mass of feelings in his chest that he can't tackle yet.

But a ring sits on his left pinky finger and it somehow feels easier to bounce back from everything else now.

Ortho isn't quite sure how to process his emotions yet.

He's read the articles on them before, of course. He knows that he has to acknowledge the emotions, resolve the root cause of them, and decide what he wants to do with the aftermath.

But that feels so cold and objective in comparison to the burning anger he now feels, the throes of anxiety and the threads of hope, the powerful yet delicate joy lingering in his heart when he plays games with his brother.

He's managed to process most of his emotions as they've come, but there's one bit that he hasn't figured out yet. And that's the guilt and fear and pain and grief sitting in his chest from Idia's Overblot.

Still, there's a ring on his left pinky finger and the time and people to figure it out with.

Sebek isn't quite sure that he isn't still dreaming sometimes. That he's not still asleep, that they didn't manage to resolve his liege's Overblot, that he's still dreaming and that's why he's so happy.

Because as much as he scorned the humans in the past, there's something about them that draws Sebek near them like a moth to a flame.

It's frustrating and annoying and yet utterly captivating, a spark of joy through the fear hanging over his ever action, the way that every time he wakes up, he wonders if he's still sleeping, still dreaming.

But he's learned that in his dreams, the ring that sits around his left pinky finger isn't there, and that's how he tells that he's awake now.

Imagine a Yuu who's grown so apathetic and numb to everything so that they don't- can't- care anymore. A Yuu that used to be bright-eyed and cheerful, but slowly grew more and more broken until they just stopped caring to stop hurting.

Imagine an Ace who lies even when he doesn't have to, who lies so much he isn't sure what the truth is anymore. An Ace who doesn't know what's real and what's not, if he really has a brother or not, if he's hanging out with the other freshmen or not because every time he's told the truth, he's been burned for it.

Imagine a Deuce who tries and tries as hard as he can to succeed, ignoring sleep and anything else he needs until the other first-years force him to take a break. A Deuce who manages to finally achieve success and get good grades, but it just feels empty because of how loud the silence is in the middle of the night as he studies.

Imagine a Jack who thinks he always has to be the strong one, the one who's stoic and always fine because the others aren't okay so he has to be okay for them. A Jack who just says he's fine until maybe he'll finally believe it.

Imagine an Epel who avoids touch and mirrors, unable to bear the physical contact that once felt so warm but now feels like fire or staring into his once warm cyan eyes and wondering what went wrong. An Epel who finally breaks with the other freshmen when a quiet compliment or accidental touch hits too close to home.

Imagine an Ortho who tries to logic away everything he feels, who tries to figure out how to push all of the emotions he's gained away because they've become a hindrance now. An Ortho who just smiles and grows more and more numb until something happens and he can't logic away those emotions.

Imagine a Sebek who pretends like he doesn't care and ghosts all of his friends despite how much it hurts as he throws himself more and more into his training. A Sebek who can't take it anymore when there's a loss he can't ignore anymore, a loss that hurts more than anything else.

Imagine the upperclassmen as they watch their freshmen spiral deeper and deeper into the holes they've dug and knowing that it's their fault.

ace trappola has a problem.

ace knows that when compared to The malleus draconia, there's really no reason for you to pick him as a partner. being your best friend, he tells himself, is just as good.

its not.

but its whatever! who cares! ace would much rather be able to hang out with you than to risk it and ruin your friendship with a lame confession. besides, he sees the way malleus looks at you and even if it twists this way and that in his chest at the sight, he still knows that a prince was the only right answer.

malleus draconia has a problem. he knows that when compared to The ace trappola, there's really no reason to pick him as a best friend. malleus is not as well versed in what humans are interested in and despite the late night walks and quiet conversations, malleus knows that the heartslabyul duo, specifically trappola, are deserving of the "best friend" title. maybe being just a friend would be enough for malleus?

it wasn't.

unbeknownst to a lot of people, malleus was selfish. it wasn't usually a trait he showed but it was more obvious when he hung out with you. in his excitement to finally have company other than those he considered family, he tended to strong arm conversations. could you blame him? he never once before had someone to discuss at length the things he was interested in and you were just so curious about everything in this world that you would let him ramble on for hours about this and that.

but alas, he still wasn't your best friend.

so malleus came up with a plan. he would set you and trappola together. a boyfriend was a whole new title and in the absence of a "best friend" malleus could swoop in and claim his rightful spot by your side. as the best friend.

yes, malleus most certainly liked this idea.

Little idea thats been bopping around in my head.

Sebek gets really cold really easily, and other first years take note and help him out. They bring him warm drinks/food, blankets, knitted clothes, etc.... especially during winter and noticing that Diasomnia is probably the coldest dorm being an unheated castle + cloudy. With a bit of angst being the Dia 3 not really noticing due to being more used to and less sensitive to cold in general + sebek trying to appear strong in front of them while struggling. Just assuming he needs to tolerate it and be stronger.

Like imagine

Ace and Deuce expand his tea options and inviting him over for pastries with the tea parties.

Jack inviting to savanaclaw to work out know darn well how warm his dorm is being based on the savanah. Or just on morning runs together.

Epel with the knitted blankets, sweaters, and scarves from the old folks in harveston. Lots of knowledge on how to deal with the cold. Also, warm apple cider anyone.

Ortho chilling around him asking questions while acting like a space heater or bringing him heated blankets to "test out."

Yuu inviting him over to Ramshackle to study despite it being one of the cooler dorms (still warmer than diasomnia) just chilling on the couch in front of the fire place. Books on the table or in hand, blankets wrapped around themselves, and warm mugs of milk with honey and cinnamon. Grim probably just curled up on someone's lap radiating a calming purr.

Maybe luring him into a sleepover that ends with a big cuddle pile to keep warm and ward off nightmares.(the overblots definitely left plenty of trauma on all of them)

Just the first years knowing there's a problem and helping in quiet little ways and showing they care for each other.
