Tonight at Silver Circle we did Divination Night as a fundraiser. People got a half-hour reading for $20. I was doing lithomancy and also reading Arcane Bullshit. Somehow I was the most popular reader there, and had a full dance card, as it were.

I was doing a reading for someone, explained the difference between lithomancy and Arcane Bullshit, and he decided on Arcane Bullshit while saying "Yes, fuck me up, daddy". I think I crumbled into dust.

A friend looking for a post about circles reminded me that I've been thinking about the posts I've seen lately in witchblr-sphere about circles that give a sense of... I don't know exactly, it's almost like a shifting of purpose.

By that I mean, I've never considered a circle to be solely about protection in the sense of keeping yourself safe from spirits you evoke, and it's not just about containment.

Every action you make, from drawing or laying the circle to the words or songs you use, all of that is meant to create a focal point.

For me, it's demarcation, the strengthening of a connection - this is like adjusting an antenna for a clearer signal. You're making a space for a spirit to come through, you're carving out a spot for a spirit to be seen and heard. You're also allowing them to better see and hear you, and to affect change in your reality.
