isn’t it funny how they had to get cas out of the picture while he was human in season 9 because otherwise they could not physically have stopped dean and cas having sex???? cas experiencing human feelings for the first time????? dean seeing cas dressed in his clothes????? tell me dean wouldn’t have bumped into cas coming out of the shower only wearing a towel and they wouldn’t have ended up in bed together i’m sorry but it was inevitable so they had to get cas out of there they clearly cannot control these characters

they aren't together like that and things are they way they always are and maybe there'll be time for something more, to do it right, later down the line and for now dean's just happy castiel lives with them, with him, and brings him coffee without asking and lets dean fix his crooked tie. so he doesn't mean anything by it when castiel dumps the grocery store pie in his lap with a fond eyeroll and a "marry me" slips out. excruciating silence follows and dean's body is already gearing up to fight or flee his way out of this situation but castiel just says "were you talking to the pie...?" and dean grabs the easy out with both hands and goes "yep" and castiel doesn't join him on the couch, takes one of the armchairs instead. "don't think i wanna get married," dean adds, digging deeper into the hole. "uh." castiel looks wistfully at the ceiling. "technically, i already am." and it shouldn't sour something in dean, but it does. he shoves the pie out of his lap. "well, congratulations." cas isn't even wearing a ring and dean spends the rest of the night thinking about what it would feel like, a ring on his own left hand and one to match on castiel's.
