Opinion: recruiting for parties
no surprise this post is triggered by the new article that Till's madam is still recruiting at his current tour, but i'll make a separate post of it instead of replying to some elses, because it's such a polarizing topic.
imo the issue is not with people (often women) sleeping with musicians (often men), that is as old as music itself. Mozart had groupies, and musicians in the stone age may well have been extra attractive as well. In rockmusic there are many stories about groupies, and plenty that are way ickier than what Till, or for that matter the Rammstein colleagues, have experienced.
Same with afterparties: nothing wrong with relaxing after an adrenaline filled show with friends, family and yes, also fans, especially if the fans are from all walks of life, looks and gender, but with the same passion for the band itself. Afterparties continuing in a hotelroom? Nobody's business (obligatory mention 'as long as everybody is adult and everything concensual').
What is going on in Till's entourage is imo something that happens in the fashionmodel business as well, and when i saw this documentary a while ago, i recognized a lot of it
Unfortunately only in dutch, it's called (translated) 'The model myth' and apart from other episodes on the lives of fashion models, this episode is about the 'shadier' side of it.
From abt 14m30 you see the work of 'promoters' who walk past the long lines of models waiting for a 'go-see' in hope to get booked (because without getting booked, a model doesn't get payed and has to pay everything: housing, food, photos for their resume etc themselves). These promoters approach models and invite them to come to a party, have some dinner and something to drink. Parties that usually turn out to be a set of older rich guys eat and drink with younger goodlooking women. And sometimes a bit extra afterwards. No one is forced, the models are free to say yes or no, to go to the party or not. Ofcourse the promoters know who to approach: never the topmodels who get lots of jobs from castings, no, mainly the ones who usually miss out, who struggle to get by on their own in a big city, trying to live the dream. This is not illegal in any way...but is it really 'partying with like-minded people' like the rich guys probably think they are doing? Yeah, maybe not so much.
Sounds familiar?
Imo Till's entourage, in particular his madam Alena is doing the same thing with fans. Not just asking seasoned pro-groupies who have been there&done that loads of times, but approaching random people (well, women, we don't hear about recruiting of men that often) around to join in. I'm sure they can say no, and that would be fine, but the excitement of meeting the rockstar, not giving much time to consider and talk about it with friends and thinking it a 'once in a lifetime opportunity' (and would they regret it forever if they said no) will probably sway people to say yes, who might not have. Ofcourse at afterparties there are other people as well, but because other people are there on a peer-to-peer basis, doesn't mean everybody is.
It's not illegal, but it definitely shady.
Till doesn't owe us anything, maybe his bandmates a little, but even they would agree that he is the one living his life the way he wants to, and you can't make him do something he doesn't want.
The one thing i do blame Till for (yes, i'm not over that yet) is his Meine Welt video with topic 'I'm a innocent liitle lamb and women are all mean to me' finishing it with partying with those same women. In the hands of Rammstein's quality control, those Meine Welt lyrics could have made for a really good statement video of how unfair the media have treated Till and the band, but where i had some sympathy for him for getting attacked so viciously by the german media before, my sympathy has dwindled for Till. Self-pity and no self-reflection.
For Rammstein i still feel sorry that their name and fame have taking such a hit by this, because whatever Till does in his private life will always be linked to Rammstein, not just himself.

I get where you're coming from, but I think at some point, fans need to stop acting like we're personally responsible for Till or that he has to behave a certain way just so we don’t feel embarrassed to be Rammstein fans. He's a grown man, not a brand mascot, and it’s not our job to manage his image for the media.
Asking him to be more “subtle” almost implies he should be ashamed, which in turn feeds the idea that what he was doing was inherently wrong — when, if we're talking about consenting adults, it really wasn’t. It also feels like a slippery slope toward letting the media dictate how artists should behave.
We can still love the music and the band without internalizing every scandal or headline like it's our burden to carry. Let the media say what it wants—Till doesn’t owe the world a more “subtle” version of himself just to keep public opinion smooth.
That’s not what rock has ever been about anyway.
Interesting take even though I don't agree with everything, thank you anon! I have to say I was pretty pissed yesterday and I probably sounded very much like it (I haven't changed my mind on the main idea I wanted to communicate though) so it's nice to read more neutral comments about this to put things into perspective and not feel tempted to get annoyed again haha
I personally don't feel responsible for Till, I still consider myself a fan of Rammstein and I don't try to hide it in public either - but this last part is getting harder and harder for me to be honest.
It's just my opinion and we all have different moral standards I guess, but I do believe what Till is doing is wrong and although I understand a lot of rock musicians may act the exact same way, this doesn't mean it should be accepted, nor that we should all stay silent about this and not hold them accountable.
I believe I have a very open-minded opinion about sex, I don't see anything wrong with celebrities sleeping with fans as long as it's between consenting adults. There's a power imbalance there that I think is important to talk about and that all parties involved should be aware of to prevent any misunderstandings - that's it. But what Till has created/allowed to create with this kind of predatory system is just breeding ground for abuses to happen imo. Not to mention that recruiting women, asking them to dress a certain way and passing them around like sexual objects really rubs me up the wrong way. It doesn't feel right, nor safe, nor respectful for all the young women involved.
Yes, Till is a grown ass man and who are we to dictate what he should do since everything here is legal? Still, I think it is our place to speak up when we believe things are not right, and especially when it might hurt other people. As a fan, I can still enjoy the music (if we stopped listening to music from artists that are or were problematic at some point we wouldn't be listening to much), but it is getting harder for me to feel any kind of sympathy for Till when I deeply disapprove and dislike what he's done - and what he's obviously not trying to hide to the public. His actions just go against everything I stand for personally.
Again, in the end I'm here for the music, but disliking the person behind the artist does make you reconsider whether or not you want to keep spending money on their work by buying the music or seeing them live, as this money may indirectly support the said actions you disapprove. Here I think all opinions are valid - each and every one of us will experience this very differently, and in the end it's pretty much your money, your choice.
All in all, whether you think that Till's actions are acceptable or not, I think the most important thing here is that we don't turn a blind eye on them just because we like Rammstein, and that we allow people to have different opinions and experiences on this. The Rammstein community on here is very dear to me, I have met wonderful people thanks to it and I'm very glad that we can all still discuss this like adults, with a critical eye and without the fear of being misjudged and/or attacked for it 😅💛

Honestly, this kind of stuff has always happened in the rock/metal scene. Can we stop acting like what Till is doing is somehow unprecedented or uniquely evil? As long as everyone involved is consenting adults, then my god, let’s stop clutching pearls over afterparties. It’s literally part of the scene and has been forever. 😅😅😅
hi anon, you are right, as I said he's not doing anything illegal and I don't believe he's unprecented or uniquely evil, but his behavior is problematic, we can't really deny it.
Totally agree with @marimayscarlett 's tags here:
Tumblr media
I'm just tired. I think a lot of us are.
There are 2 problematic aspects here for me:
1/ the fact that he's actively employing people to recruit young and attractive women. This is very different from a rock star just inviting a fan backstage to have sex. Till has created or at least allowed the creation of a despicable system to fulfill his own selfish needs - a system that is clearly very predatory and could quickly go out of control for obvious reasons, but he doesn't seem to care
2/ the fact that he's doing/allowing this pretty much publicly despite all the accusations. He acts like nothing happened. It feels to me like complete disregard and disrespect to the women and the fans who may have suffered because of his actions. This is nothing like the silly tongue-in-cheek provocations Rammstein is known for. This is just bad taste, selfishness, and a serious lack of moral standards.

Till is now featured in Mediapart, a pretty well-known digital newspaper here in France, with again accusations of recruiting girls for an after party at his hotel during the Hellfest festival.
And the description of the woman who contacted the fans fits a bit too well Alena Makeeva...
Ugh. I'm so sorry for everyone who's tired of hearing about these accusations... but it's getting harder and harder for me personally to not be disgusted by Till at this point and I needed to rant again. I still believe that he's not doing anything illegal, but still, this is problematic and reprehensible. And above all, the fact that he's doing this again with impunity, like nothing happened and like he's some kind of untouchable manchild just gives me the biggest ick. He's not even trying to hide what he's doing. Idk, at least have some decency??
I really hope all the young women involved were at least consenting and that they're safe right now 💛

I have dived into the Rammstein music videos and making ofs once again.
The best making of ever is absolutely Haifisch, I love everything about it! They all get to talk (well, Till not so much) and they are so funny. It’s so nice to listen to them.
And yes, because I’m such a Paulchard girlie, the best part is guitarists fighting. This is exactly how you look like, when you are angrily fighting with someone, I took some screenshots for evidence:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Fighting, doesn’t look like anything else. Right?
And Paul wanting to rip Richard’s shirt off that buttons are flying all over the place, like this:
Tumblr media
Fighting angrily, nothing more.
And of course it’s natural to help put your friend’s tie and shirt in place after all that fighting:
Tumblr media
I love them, this making of is really something else. 🤭
And this is also how you look at your collegue and good friend, like in Mein Herz Brennt making of:
Tumblr media
I’m not going to even start talking about that Untitled photoshoot thing, because that’s.. yeah.
I love their chemistry so much. 💕
