Born in the dawn.... . I finished Cursed on Netflix within two days, which translates to I didnt manage to finish my book of the week😂.But I dont regret it one bit. . So I figured that I could go ahead and do a review of books that have already been read, that I own. This week I will focus on the books that caught my eye, most cherished in my soul and they are the unstained ie. They have no annotations. They are true virgins, never been written on, never bent to save a page, just pure. . This is not your beautiful casual african literature where the sun rose upon the village, illuminating on the melanin blessed children of mother earth...No..... It takes a different angle and looks into the essence of spirituality in the african community and ties it with the long denied sufferings of mental illness among our(African) people. It also touches on the meaning of sexuality and tries to make the reader understand the various viewpoints not only from a human point of view but also from the spirit world. . We are introduced to the main character caller Ada who is battling and at the same time forming relationships with her spirit self. She is also required to blend with the everyday human life which as we all know can be a bit overwhelming, especially when you are in the process of figuring out who you are and what you are. She seeks answers in both wrong and right ways but I dont want to say anymore before I end up giving you a spoiler. . I got this book from @halfpriced_books they are the plug for affordable books. My current read: White Oleander, Janet Fitch. . I do not know if I will ever reach the point of doing at least 2 books at the same time but I am quite a loyal reader. I read the same thing till I finish. . So far I like the book, it's quite poetic I must say. So simple and calming despite the ongoing of the drama in the character's life. This baby chair belonged to my brother once. Now it acts like my bedside table yo hold all my TBR books. A story that happens within the course of one week only. A whole book of exactly 595 pages. I love how Ken follet goes out of his way and tackles hard topics like feminism, LGBTQ community struggles, racism, and the likes. This books does not shy away in telling you as it is, the on goings of that period of time but encourages you to think outside the box and see yourself as a woman in Europe during that trying time. I do not want to spoil the story by narrating what happens , but this is a must have book from this author. WHY? HOW? WHAT? Have you ever looked at some people and heard them speak and they seemed to have all shit figured out? Or how life looks like a level of a game and some of us make it and others don't. Constantly moving, even when all hell breaks loose because no one will wait for you. Time being the worst of them all. There are so many expectations from people around us. Ranging from school, social life, personal life, lovers, family, friends, to a point that you can sit down and say fuck it. This book, yes it was written for companies, not people in mind. But when I read it, I felt like it was telling me to get my shit in order and focus on the the reason why I am here. Sometimes we do not have a vision or mission, actually most of the times we dont. We know what we like and what we dont like. We know who are the people we would like to call friends and who we dont.
