Chapter one of Lonely

As every monster ascended to the surface to witness the sun for the first time in 100 years, a lonely lanky figure stumbled out of the hole and looked around astonished. She never saw the sun or the outside world since- well never, or at she never remembered.

Her (f/c) eyes scanned the crowd of monsters as they cheered in happiness and some of them outright cried from the beauty, even (y/n) felt like crying. She walked over to a cavern to look down in it as she never seen one before and immediately regretted it as she just found out that she has a fear of heights. She placed a hand on her ribcage and quickly stepped back. She felt her heart beating really fast as she tried to calm it down.

"Monsters of the Underground! Please gather around!" She heard their king known as Asgore yell over the commotion of the monsters and they immediately start to quiet down as they started to gather around him. (y/n) started to walk towards him but kept her distance as Asgore started to speak. "We have to thank this kind human for finally freeing us from the Underground and stopping a long-time war between us and the humans! For the first time in 100 years, we finally see the sky again." Asgore stated with happiness which erupted a cheer from the monsters once again.

"Please go and live out your beautiful lives!" He finished and stepped down from rock that he was standing on and walked over to Frisk to give them a hug. Some monsters stuck around and mingled with one another happily and others scattered to do whatever they wanted. She really didn't know what she can do with herself or what she can do on the surface.

"BROTHER! CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT WE ARE FINALLY ON THE SURFACE?!" She heard a loud boisterous voice say off in the distance and she turned to see a taller skeleton with a shorter chubby one. She knows who they were due to them being the only skeletons Underground, but she never got to meet them or even be around them. She heard good things about them, about how powerful they are, mostly how powerful the short one is even though he was lazy.

"It was a long time coming, but I felt it in my bones." Sans chuckled with a pun and the tall one groaned and started to complain about his puns. The female had to stop herself from smiling because she had to admit, that was a good pun. She lets out a small huff as she looked around thinking about what she can do since she was free, mostly. She doesn't know how she was going to live or make a living out of the Underground.

She left the two brothers to make her way into town to check the place out and see what she could do on herself. She passed some humans who looked at her with disgust and they said not caring if she heard them "Why are we allowing these.... monsters stay here? Can't they go back Underground?"

"I know! All they can do is take our jobs and take our houses." They said walking past her snickering, and she just hung her head. She knew that this was going to happen and she knew that this was a bad idea. Nobody wanted the monsters to come above ground and she knew that it's going be another problem.

For now she was going to ignore all the comments that people are going to make about them and wanted to enjoy the time that they had.

A couple weeks later, (y/n) walked towards Grillby's little place that he set up in town. It was just like his little tavern inside of the Underground, and it was just as popular with all monsters and humans that didn't have problems with the monsters. She just wanted to enjoy the atmosphere that no one else would bother her that would try to hurt her or say some rude things.

She walked inside and saw that it was packed which wasn't weird for Grillby to be so popular. She sat at the table where the bar was at and smiled at Grillby who came over and smiled with his eyes. "Hi (y/n)! You want your usual?" He asked as he was cleaning the mug after someone was done with it. She nodded and put up her finger signaling for one. "Got it! And this one is on the house since we are trying to get set up still." He stated walking away without hearing a protest or seeing a protest from the female.

She looked defeated as she leaned against the table as she looked around. She saw some monsters that she recognized and some that she didn't. They were talking and enjoying themselves with the humans like some old friends. She wishes that she can speak with humans and become friends with them. She huffed softly as she looked forward to see the different type of drinks until she noticed her (f/d) in front of her. She looked over to Grillby and gave him a thankful smile before taking a drink and closing her eyes and enjoying the quiet chatter around her, that was until....

"GRILLBY! WE HAVE ARRIVED!" She heard a loud voice say from behind her and she almost spit out her drink from surprise. She looked behind her to see Papyrus and Sans walking in and she narrowed her eyes at them.

"I was wondering when the two of you was going to show up." Grillby had an sarcastic sound in his voice and (y/n) smiled and chuckled at his tone.

"Awe Grill. You would've been bonely without us here?" Sans shrugged his shoulders as he winked and Papyrus groaned as they took a seat next to (y/n) and she internally groaned.

"I wouldn't been lonely. I got (y/n) here with me." Grillby pointed to the said girl and she glared at him cursing him mentally. He shrugged one shoulder as he turned to give the other skeletons their orders. Papyrus turned to look at the female and she was pointedly not looking at him. "I'M THE GREAT PAPYRUS! IT'S NICE TO MEET YOU (Y/N)." She gave him a look which said to leave him alone but he still has a smile on his face.

"She's a mute Paps. Meaning that she can't talk." Grillby said as he placed a ketchup bottle in front of Sans and he took a swig from it. She looked at him with a weird look as he placed the bottle back on the table and wiped his mouth. Just that gesture alone sent a shiver down her spine and she doesn't know why.

"AWE I CAN'T IMAGINE NOT TALKING FOR MY WHOLE LIFE!" Papyrus screamed and she looked away feeling her emotions flare up for some reason. She started to tear up as she hung her head low and placed some money on the table as she got up. She started to walk away as she felt her tears fall down her cheek bones and she heard Papyrus say "Was It Something I Said?"

"You wouldn't think it would be a sensitive topic for her?" Grillby said angrily and she felt a pair of eyes as she left the bar. She didn't hear the rest of the conversation as she ran out so no one saw her tears. She ran into the alleyway and slid down on the closest wall. She started to silently sob as she tried to wipe the tears away. Why was she crying? Why did it hurt her so much? She barely knows about her past.

Everything went quiet as she left the bar and everyone watched as she left. "Great job, bonehead. You need to read someone before you decide to open your mouth." Grillby is angry as he was very protective over his friends. He ignored the chuckle from Sans as the shorter skelton got up and placed his hand on his brother's shoulder who was looking down in embarrassment.

"I guess we should go apologize to her before Grillby gets a Charlie horse in his muscle." He said as he placed some money on the counter for his ketchup. "Come on Paps."

"That Is A Great Idea! The Great Papyrus Is Going To Apologize AND We Can Become Friends." Papyrus loudly said as his confident smile returned to his face. He got up and left the bar before anyone said anything and Sans sighed through his nose bones and looked at Grillby with a side smile and the fire monster rolled his eyes.

"I know, you want to put it on your tab." Grillby looked at him as he narrowed his eyes as him. Sans clicked his teeth at him as he pointed his finger at him. "You see right through me." He chuckled as he followed after his brother. "You know that you're gonna have to pay that off soon." His complaints went on to death ears as the skeleton left the bar. He saw his brother quickly walking down the sidewalk and quickly walked after him.

"No luck?" Sans asked as he finally caught up to him and Papyrus was about to say something but they heard laughing and punches being heard from the alleyway. They looked at each other and quickly ran over to the alleyway. They saw the female skeleton on the ground being punched and kicked by humans. Something snapped inside of Sans as they seen the female getting jumped by a bunch of humans as they said nasty stuff to her.

"HEY! WHAT ARE YOU DOING TO THAT CIVILLIAN?!" Papyrus screamed as he pointed at them. They turned to look at them and say something but they saw the look on Sans face which one of his eyes was missing and the other was flashing between gold and blue. They almost pissed their pants as they hightailed it out of there. "NYEH HEH HEH! PEOPLE ARE SCARED OF THE GREAT PAPYRUS!" Sans went back to normal as Papyrus boasted as he went over to the skeleton. Sans walked over to them and seen that she passed out from either the pain or just from crying so much. His heart was hurting seeing her like this. She couldn't call out for help and they knew that.

"Come on Paps. Let's get her home so we can take care of her." Sans said quietly as he went over to her and pick her up in his arms. Papyrus stayed quiet which was weird for him and they carried her all the way back to their house.
