1 YEAR OF UNDERTALE YELLOW HALLOWEEN HACK!

Once Upon a Time, a tale was told. It told the story of 3 humans cast upon the depths of an underground land inhabited by monsters. And a gunslinger named Clover, a young girl named Raine, & a bounty hunter called Varik were called to an adventure. This tale is called UNDERTALE YELLOW: Halloween Hack, and it was first told exactly on this day, one year ago.

Genuinely, I cannot believe this time came around so quickly. After completing half of the series, the first episode has been out for a year AND surpassed 1k views! It’s been a real honor to reach this milestone, and I am super pumped we got this far– and the UTYHH team and I are now especially dedicated to finishing the series more than ever. For those curious, Episode 5 has about 20 pages written already, and the Making Of doc for Episode 4 is still in development as well.

But, back to Episode 1. I myself drew up a poster featuring all of the characters featured in the pilot, and for some characters this even marks their debut in official artwork, heh. But yeah, I really hope you guys enjoy this little piece. Other artists on the UTYHH team plan to make art to commemorate the debut of the series as well, so keep an eye out for them on our socials!

Besides anniversary artwork, I have yet another treat for you guys. Some bonus tracks! The first one is a re-cover of “Synchronicity”, done by Chaos. The other is called “Courage, Justice, & Fear” and was composed by EternalWonder. You can find their channels below. These songs were made earlier in UTYHH development, and we really hope you guys enjoy them!

But as part of UTYHH’s first anniversary– I’m curious– what is your favorite thing about UTYHH? I know, I know, I’m ripping off what Toby did for Undertale’s 10th anniversary, but I thought it would be fun. It could be literally anything- a favorite part of the series thus far, or maybe even something more impactful. I know this project has impacted me a lot, and I couldn’t be happier to be working on something like this. Please leave your memories in the comments as well if you have any!

UTYHH Post Episode 4 Updates

Hey, this new art of Varik is pretty cool. Worked on it a couple of days ago. Anyways, hello again everyone. I am so very terribly sorry for the lack of stuff lately. I need to clarify some stuff.

Episode 4 Soundtrack: After Episode 4 itself went public we went on progress as usual. The OST has been uploaded, and you can watch it in the playlist with the rest of the soundtracks from Episodes 1-3 here:

For viewers who listen to our soundtrack on SoundCloud, you may notice that the Episode 4 OST is not on there just yet. One day we will get it uploaded however I feel we have some bigger priorities right now. Please feel free to listen to the soundtrack on YouTube. We’ve also passed 100 tracks in the series overall, and we’re only halfway done! That’s a huge milestone. I’m sure by the time the series has ended we’ll have about 200-300 tracks… Which is scary to think about…

Episode 5: Episode 5 is in development! Progress on the screenplay has been going, but it has been very slow. Mainly this is due to @lolmeowaj and I being very busy with other obligations over the Summer break so far. But as of right now we have about 20 pages of the script done, so that’s not too bad I suppose. Episode 5 will be very fun for UTY fans as, well, if you watched the fourth episode, you’ll be able to gather that the episode will continue the shenanigans in the good ol’ Wild East. So… Yeah! Hopefully progress on Episode 5 will pick up the pace again soon.

Another thing I wanna clarify is why I have been slacking on UTYHH lately. When Episode 2 and 3 dropped, the team usually took at least a week off before resuming work but for me… It felt much longer than that. I will not get into the details of my personal life, but tl;dr, I was alone, depressed, overwhelmed, and feeling a whole bunch of feelings in my personal life and it completely drained me of motivation to work on UTYHH stuff. Additionally, I will be working a job soon, so this will inevitably likely slow down the production of UTYHH. I really, really had the idea to get UTYHH done as a series before I would need to attend to early adulthood obligations, but alas, that is simply not possible. But the team and I will not give up. We’re determined to get UTYHH done, and if UTY itself can take 7 years to complete and still come out, then UTYHH can do the same—- or well, let’s hope we can just get UTYHH done within at least another year instead of seven… That’s too much… But you get the picture.

Lastly, I am aware that we still need to release the Episode 4 “Making Of” document. A good amount of progress on it has been done, but as mentioned above with my personal life, I felt very unmotivated to work on the doc. Especially since I have to import a shit ton of images into the docs, and format them correctly, and if there’s one tip I could give about using Google Docs, it’s that formatting a lot of images is straight up pain. It’s not fun, but it’ll be worth it. Since Episode 4 is an episode that I’ve personally been waiting to get done and since it’s the longest episode thus far, this means the doc will be packed with information I am also very excited to share to y’all! So… I don’t have a release date for the doc, but hopefully my lazy ass can get it done in August at some point.

Well everyone, the time is finally coming! Filming for Episode 4 is fully concluded. All that is left is some editing and test screenings. We thank everyone for being part of the journey with us, and we are very excited for this episode to come out!

Underfell Yellow Halloween Hack Designs! + Episode 4 Update

@everyone This is a tad bit different this time— but, here is a bit of a special treat for y’all during Episode 4’s production! Going as far back as Episode 3’s development, the UTYHH team and I came across the “Underfell Yellow” designs by artist @pantamonte. We really enjoyed them and as a fun idea, we decided to make some designs for a hypothetical “Underfell Yellow: Halloween Hack” idea. But eventually as time passed, we just sorta dropped the idea.

Until recently, Doc Plague, who is a server parter of ours who is the owner of the Yellow Archives server (check the link for that below for those interested) came up with ideas for a storyline for a more fleshed out UFYHH concept. I really like the ideas Doc has come up with so far, and I even came up with a few of my own, and began making designs for some of the characters. All of these ideas are written in a google doc but due to it containing spoilers, I will not be sharing said document, but I will share a couple of cool unique details here about the story so far that aren’t spoilers to the current UTYHH.

Anyways, we got a logo and I made designs for Varik, Mysteryman, Clover, Raine, Ceroba, and Scruffey so far. Additionally— the next character is UFYHH’s biggest separation from it with base UTYHH: Porky Minch from Earthbound has returned, and not only that, he has overthrown Asgore, and taken over the Underground and commits various crimes against monsterkind to further his plans. His goal? To break the barrier to get back to the surface, and spread Giygas’ influence once more upon reaching it. But maybe, just maybe, these alternate timeline versions of the 3 humans can stop him…

So… That’s Underfell Yellow Halloween Hack! I can elaborate more in the comments with others if anyone wishes. I will note though, don’t worry, this side timeline will not overtake production of UTYHH. The main series is still & always will be our main priority before dabbling into side projects + collabs.

Speaking of UTYHH, how is Episode 4 going? Well, it’s going well. There was a small hiatus where I could not film for about a week due to my filming space being unavailable— but I am pleased to say that I am back to working on the episode and as previously mentioned, filming has passed the halfway point. In terms of a release date… Well I still can’t say. There is still a decent amount of work that needs to get done… But we WILL get there. Eventually. Hopefully soon and no later than early July of this year. As a treat for waiting, here are some more screenshots!

Episode 4 Official Thumbnail + Composer Call!

Hey guys! Been some time again. Remember how I said we’d try to get the OST thumbnail art out by like last weekend? Well… Sadly that didn’t happen. More progress has been made on it though! And filming has also been great. That’s why normally earlier than usual, I’ve decided to create the thumbnail! Maybe it’ll get tweaked a tad bit for the Final Cut but, I think it looks awesome. And you may notice that a lot of fan favorites are finally starting to appear 😉

Now, for some real talk though: The UTYHH team is still in a huge pickle. We are in DESPERATE need of aid in the composition department. If ANYONE here is willing to volunteer their work as a composer to make covers/compose songs for the UTYHH series, please take a look at this recruitment form below!

Lately, music production has been insanely slow for the production of Episode 4. Some tracks have been made, but a good amount are still left. You can find more details in the google form, and if you have any questions, please comment under this post! You will need to join our Discord server in order to help us on the team though so that all staff can communicate in real time and smoothly. The link for that is at the top of the form as well.

Remastered Varik and Clover Art

As promised, we have more promotional art! This time it is actually a remaster of one of the very first UTYHH art pieces, where only Varik and Clover are featured (Raine’s inclusion was not fully decided yet) I originally wanted to get this art out for UTY’s 1 year anniversary, but got sidetracked. So I’ve repurposed this as art for Episode 4! Or rather, art to be released alongside Episode 4 promo art.

Updates

Hey all, Sorry for the lack of inactivity lately. Things for UTYHH have been going pretty slow at this time unfortunately. Filming is still a process and more scenes have been filmed, with the filming process resuming shortly! The team and I have just been very, and I mean very busy. I myself ended up getting tied up with family obligations and that took quite a lot of my time up during the past week. Alongside that I was also relying on waiting for other staff members to finish up work on their end that would allow me to continue filming, but we are working on resolving that.

I do feel quite terrible that we have not been putting out more promotion art lately as well. The art you see of Varik is a teaser for the upcoming Episode 4 Soundtrack poster, which basing on some of the other staff’s scheduling we should hopefully be able to maybe get it out by this upcoming weekend. Another reason I have been a tad slow on Episode 4 work is because now I am currently juggling two projects at once. Don’t worry, this is only temporary. With the short amount of time left before Deltarune chapters 3 and 4 finally release, I have been working on my own video that is a comprehensive overview of how the Brandish series (Varik’s origin) influenced Toby Fox on both UTDR and his earlier works. That video itself I would say is already halfway done and I do think I’ll be able to get the video out in time before Deltarune’s new chapters but I wanna get it out before the new chapters really bad because I don’t want to have to spend a lot of time to search for more Brandish references that will potentially be in new chapters, and this type of video was something I have personally wanted to make for a long time now so it would really suck if someone else thought of the idea and made their video before I get to it. In case you couldn’t tell I am a HUGE Brandish fan and I have been researching the series for years now… So as one of Brandish’s few fans I feel it’s a moral obligation to make this video on my end. Sorry for yapping about my own personal project. But I do feel insanely terrible for the lack of UTYHH work getting done. I’m super excited for this episode to come out. On the bright side we did manage to resolve all of the conflicts with voice acting (there was a period of time where Moray was left without a VA but that is no longer an issue)

But, it is better to not rush the episode. I would absolutely hate it if we did that, Episode 4 is like, one of the episodes in the series I have been itching to do for so long since the early days of UTYHH development. Anyways, I believe that’s all I gotta say. Keep an eye out for hopefully some promo art in the meantime, and it would also be cool if ya’ll kept an eye on my new Brandish video I’m working on to post on my own channel (link below)

Episode 4 Preview!

Episode 4’s new preview is here! Please check it out!

Phew! Well after a long time of preproduction the episode is finally in its early stages of filming. Technically preproduction is done just yet but… We’re thinking of making new recruit posts soon. Mainly it has to do with getting some more composers on our team and depending on if we can’t find someone through our Discord socials we may in fact, need a new voice actor for one character. But, let’s not get ahead of ourselves. We hope you enjoy the Episode 4 preview because we think Episode 4 is a VERY fun episode. Stay tuned for some more updates!

New UTYHH Updates + Partnership!

Hello everyone! Very sorry for the lack of updates. Preproduction has been going well for Episode 4 and it will OFFICIALLY wrap up by May 10th! Isn’t that exciting? To me it certainly is. Propwork is nearly fully complete for this episode and the main bulk of work resides in finishing up music and voice lines. Unfortunately the delivery of both of these has been a tad slow as most of the staff has found themselves a bit more busy than usual for this episode, but fear not! We still intend to work on UTYHH till the very end!

As you can see here for props, I haven’t posted all of the ones I am working on, but I wanted to shed some light on the Saloon and Jail Cell props for the Wild East that will be not only used in Episode 4, but Episode 5 as well! As of right now only one more prop needs to be completed before everything physical is ready for filming.

In terms of a potential release date for Episode 4, I intend to hopefully get it out by at latest, some point in July. This will be a long episode as stated in previous posts, and it’s estimated to be a couple of minutes longer than Episode 3 was… Anyways, let’s ignore that 😅

We also have a really cool partnership to offer! Undertale Yellow Halloween Hack is officially teamed up with the Yellow Archives Discord server! Run by Doc Plague (link to their Bluesky below), Yellow Archives aims to archive fanfictions and AUs related to Undertale Yellow. Other UTY projects are partnered up with this server as well, so feel free to come on down, take a look at everyone’s projects, and maybe even mee the creators of said AU! (Well, if they’re in the server, I dunno if there’s any celebrities in the UTY fandom I can name off so don’t get too excited on that but you get the idea)

Anyways, Doc has helped out with UTYHH a LOT and if it wasn’t for them we wouldn’t have Cherry as Ceroba’s voice actor and by extension, never would have met Starlo’s voice actor either. Please support Doc as well. The links to not just their Bluesky but also the Discord link will be below:

Starlo has been Casted!

Hello everyone! We are pleased to say that after weeks of searching, a Starlo voice actor has finally been found! He will be voiced by the talented Doug Grosser!

We would like to thank everyone who auditioned for Starlo for not just Episode 4 but also the rest of the series. This was a very long process to settle on and it definitely caused some delays during Episode 4’s production— but if there is anything you should take away from this, it’s that good things absolutely do come to those who wait. Episode 4 is the first episode where professional voice actors are working on the series with us which is also just amazing to think about. Undertale Yellow Halloween Hack very much started out as a small project where all of the devs and cast members were friends/family with each other. That said, this is a very awesome time for UTYHH and the devs are more than thankful for the assistance of these wonderful actors. Please check out Doug’s profile below!
