How Shuffled is Shuffle

Most of the time when studying, I have a steady piece placed on my head, that accessory is a pair of headphones.

I am not very particular with the genres of the song I am currently into, as long as its something I wanna listen at that moment. I have numerous list of playlist in my iPod, about six or seven. But almost always, I played the very same playlist, the Jiji playlist. Whether I'm commuting on my way to work, running in the evening, or studying. Before, I've got this divided sets of songs where I listen to, depending on the mood I'm in. But right now, it just feels tiring to listen to all kinds of songs; and so I stick with my Jiji playlist, where I stuffed all my favourite songs, at the moment.

When I started to hit the play button, I usually play my most favourite song (which is currently Girls by 1975, for months now!! haha), then followed by my all other least favourites, but still favourite songs in shuffle. But how shuffled is shuffle? 

For someone like me who listens to music almost everyday, and plays the same playlist everyday, I am wondering how random does this shuffle thing? As I observed, when I play one song from one artist, it is "randomly" followed by another song from the same artist. It usually happens, not always though, but 80% shuffled playing does this "randomly" scheme. 

I know it is the least of my concern, but some stuff just gets into my head when I am not in a really serious mode of thinking (but sometimes, I get to think a lot about this even when studying). Perhaps the geniuses behind this shuffled thing has an algorithm of some sort or a formula where the music plays randomly when shuffled. And every time you shuffled, it is an entirely different order of the same songs,  the very next minutes you hit the shuffled button again! 

It is indeed an amazing technology! A clever stroke of invention when that takes one away from the ordinary, mundane, almost always less-thrilling, less-exciting way of listening to music. I hope I can someday meet a person who can logically/interestingly explain how shuffled is shuffle! 

That would definitely be an out-of-the ordinary kind of conversation!

8/9 novena mass, and also my first time to hear the mass sitting. No, I didn't bring a chair, nor was I early, just right on time when all the seats are taken. But by some luck, (or maybe because of a lucky charm given by a client yesterday) a group of elderly devotees at my back offered me their extra chair! And all other people near them were also given small stools to sit on. Such a kind a kind gesture to start my morning!! Viva Pit Señor! Viva Señor Sto. Niño!! ⛪️👼🙏🙌☀️ P.S. Twisted Twister

So I went to Ayala today and finally decided to buy a new pair of (bathroom) slippers. But when I was inside Metro department store, I suddenly remembered that I needed to buy a new electric kettle! And socks too! And bottle cleaner! Aaand I saw that bread knife that I've been looking for for so long! Needless to say, I stepped out the department store with 3 plastic bags and an empty wallet, but nay, I'm happy. :) And so I was heading the mall's exit when I felt hungry. Since today is a happy day, I decided to "sagad" the emptiness of my wallet and headed to KFC to eat that one KFC food item I've been craving--Twisterrr! So I queued and gave my order to the girl behind the cash register. But heck, my hands were tired of the three plastic bags and a heavy laptop-filled bag, and the girl was speaking so fast. She gave me a lot of options, so I ended up ordering MEDIUM-sized coke and paid an additional P10 for the upsized drink I wouldn't have bothered to order! I can"t barely finish a regular size coke! I would have loved it if it was an upsized Royal, or better yet, a large fries! But she just smiled and said that she can't upsize my fries coz it was already punched! So flimsy an excuse! arghhhhhhh! I hated her right there and then. When I started eating, I realized then that the Twister was not that tasty, dry and bland, there's no kick, no surprise, I was disappointed. While I was munching it, I was thinking of eating Bigmac, or Burger King, or Flame It, or of something else, something not twisted. I ended up swearing not to eat it again for months! hahaha

Today is Saturday, 12:55 am, December 05, 2014, and we are all waiting for typhoon Ruby’s (Hagupit) unleashing. We’ve been expecting the storm since Wednesday, and the classes and work have been suspended since Thursday. But until today, the weather is still at its “calm before the storm” mood....

The Long Wait

Today is Saturday, 12:55 am, December 05, 2014, and we are all waiting for typhoon Ruby's (Hagupit) unleashing. We've been expecting the storm since Wednesday, and the classes and work have been suspended since Thursday. But until today, the weather is still at its "calm before the storm" mood. I've been monitoring weather bulletins since the forecast of the typhoon Hagupit turning into a super typhoon, then weakening, then back again to its super typhoon status. The last weather bulletin I've read says Ruby will make its landfall later tonight or Sunday morning. I hope everything will be fine. My family is in Leyte but the storm's coverage could eat up the entire Visayas once it makes its landfall. I'm hoping and praying for the best. Keep safe everyone!
