I love to see people asking all the same questions I annoy you with in private. And I am once again informing you that setting this story in Alberta would’ve been the worst thing you could have ever done to me. Unfortunately no one can convince me that Calgary wouldn’t have made that man even worse. I shudder to think.

I hope you don't mind me asking, but if your team is the Carolina Hurricanes why doesn't Cassian plays for them in top shelf love?

I'm actually SO GLAD you asked because I do in fact love talking about it! Actually, I'd happily yap about all my fics (damn bitch maybe you should actually write them then I mean what? Who said that?)

So one of the big motivations for Hockey Cassian is isolation. I think we can all agree that Cassian is an extrovert. Bro thrives off being around others, particularly his family. He feeds off them. That's his life force.

So getting traded super far away is a serious wrench in his life. No longer are his brothers and family right there if he needs them. He really has no one that he knows outside of his team other than Nesta.

And that's what really drives him to keep going back to her. I mean obviously it's Nessian so they're always trapped in each other's orbits, but in this Universe, he's really latching on because he has no one else.

And that was important for me in this story because I knew Nesta was really going to push him away hard after their meet-ugly and I wouldn't have the canon messiness and build up and the mate bond that keeps Canon Cassian going back to fall back on. Like what reason does this Cassian really have not to just shrug and go "okay" and walk away from this woman he really doesn't know. And the answer is: it's his isolation and desperation in this Universe.

SOOOO! I knew he couldn't get traded to my team to achieve that. If you've never seen the NHL teams map, all of the east coast teams are pretty close together distance-wise. So there'd be nothing really stopping Cassian from visiting his brothers or family. I knew it had to be a western conference team. More specifically probably a Pacific Division team. And I really didn't want to do a California team. I did briefly consider one of the Canadian teams like the Flames or the Canucks. But ultimately I decided Seattle would be best and Cassian would look great in Kraken Blue 😉

Happy WIP Wednesday! I've really been feeling viking Cassian this week, so here's a fun little snippet 😉

“Back home, a wife can divorce her husband for a great number of reasons,” he continued, still dragging his fingers up and over the curve of her shoulder, as light as feather, a touch so sheer it was teasing. He shrugged, glancing down at her pointedly, with a wicked gleam in his eye that caught in the light of the single candle he’d bothered to light before he took to unlacing her dress - I won’t have you in the dark, he’d said, when she begged him to leave it, to not stop kissing her, I want to see you - and now it was burning so low that Nesta was certain it would snuff itself out, soon. “Not least of which is the husband’s lack of prowess in bed.”

She smirked. “Speaking from experience?” Nesta asked, her voice acid-sweet as his answering laugh rumbled through his chest and into hers, echoing through her bones, right through to her very centre.  His eyes darkened, and before she could so much as take a breath, Cassian rolled her onto her back, caged her body with his own, and trapped her earlobe between his teeth, nipping the skin as he hovered above her, his hand falling to her waist, dragging down to rest at her hip.  “Absolutely not, sweetheart,” he murmured against the skin of her neck. “No woman has ever left my bed dissatisfied.” No, Nesta thought as her skin heated, tightened, and the hand at her hip swiped broadly down to her thigh. I bet they haven’t.

For @gwynweekofficial, @freyjas-musings, @amandapearls, and I wanted to depict one of our favorite soft ships for unlikely pairings and star-crossed connections. Gwyn and Elain are survivors in their own respective rights. They're kind, they're fiercely loyal, and they don't let the circumstances they've found themselves in define them. If any two people could also find love and healing together, it would be them.

I really think everyone who has any feelings whatever way about any of the Archeron sisters could really help to be reminded that they are 22-26 and every other character in the series is like 500.

“Feyre committed war crimes” - Feyre was a 20 year old going through a bad breakup who girl bossed way too close to the sun. Take your Spring Court falling apart issues up with the 500 year old High Lords who watched and allowed it. If the man I thought I was going to marry at 19 had a Court I probably would’ve crashed that shit too. FRONTAL LOBE NOT YET DEVELOPED!!

“Nesta is a bitch/abusive/mean” Nesta is a teenage girl with a sister and they have all been put into horrible circumstances (reminder: Cassian physically beat Rhys up and no one calls him “abusive”) and then she is a traumatized S.A. survivor who literally died and is being constantly put in situations she is very uncomfortable with and has frankly incredibly tame reactions (I mean, it’s not like she goes around telling people they are unlovable and that everyone hates them).

“Elain is useless/boring/doesn’t do anything.��� Oh so we hate Feyre for fucking shit up and we hate Nesta for being “mean” and now we also hate Elain for *checks notes* “nothing.” Elain is a girl whose entire life was turned upside down twice and she is quite literally navigating her mind no longer being entirely her own as well as a weird new bond she doesn’t understand. What do you want her to do, exactly? She picked up a knife when the situation call for it OK. Not to mention that we seriously have enough centuries old warriors taking up their swords we don’t need Elain and her rolling pin bonking the enemy now the war is over ok GOD FORBID A GIRL HAVE HOBBIES AND ENJOY THEM

Anyway thank you for coming to my ted talk on the infuriating state of misogyny in a series with a largely female fan base. Be mad at the men. They’re all insane frankly - and sometimes hot, and it’s fantasy, so it’s fine but GOOD LORD PEOPLE.

I've been seeing this trend going around so is there any acotar propaganda that you're not falling for?

Literally all of it lol?

I mean I could write an essay starting with the fact that none of these characters are perfect and some people really need to chill tf out - I’m including my faves and stans of my faves in that btw.

I think the biggest thing I’m not falling for is that the Night Court has a functioning government, military, or system of trade and commerce. It just … doesn’t work? Like none of it makes sense or works. How can you be closed off to every other court but also internally fractured and also your capital is a whole ass secret. The whole court is, ostensibly, being run by 5-8 people who are frankly too distracted fucking each other and having emotional therapy sessions in their 7 houses. So glad we have a general and spymaster and emissaries to a place with a big fucking wall and also a steward of that other place that is kind of our court but what about like … a treasury minister? An agriculture minister? A trade minister? For someone who ripped off so much of GOT, SJM really called it quits on the making Night functional part. Which is only made more annoying by the fact that the other courts in their limited descriptions actually DO seem to have industry and trade and make sense.

Sorry I know you probably wanted me to say I’m not buying that Azriel is a hot daddy dom and he’s actually a silent little weirdo whose main personality trait thus far is torture and being hot and a 2000’s emo haircut but this is actually what keeps me up at night.

forget the ship wars, I’m focused on the sustainability of this country’s economic system and it is NOT looking good frankly.

Oh also/PS - it’s absolutely insane that Lucien gets made into a villain for thinking Rhys took Feyre and was holding her against her will when you consider everything he saw from UTM and beyond like if I was him I would have to assume that bye bye note was fake as fuck considering as far as he knows the girl can’t even read which almost got him killed btw. Like Lucien is sat there thinking he’s about to save Feyre and everyone is losing it that he’s not respecting her choices that fox CANNOT WIN!

Nesta almost swore there was a shimmer to the heat as she stepped deeper into the ruins - how was Gwyn not being baked alive down there? As she got lower, Nesta could see the true size of where they were. The entire thing sprawled around her in layered fragments - crumbled stone walls outlining rooms that must have once been filled with movement and ceremony. Pillars painted a deep, almost impossible rose red stood out from the stone here and there - like massive exclamation point emoji’s, Nesta thought, but didn’t dare voice.

Beneath her feet, smooth slabs of limestone formed what seemed to be a floor, though - “It looks almost new in places.”

“Yeah,” Gwyn grumbled, still not straightening from whatever she was working on. “We can thank some jackass British archaeologist for that. He decided to restore sections based on his own imagination and a bucket of concrete. Controversial doesn’t even begin to cover this site.”

“He wrote archaeological fanfiction, is what you’re saying?”

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again - Nesta should’ve gotten to crash out AT LEAST as hard as Feyre. Oh she drank and had sex? Where is the COURT BURNED TO THE GROUND??? She should’ve been allowed to destabilize Hybern and destroy half the continent that’s all I’m saying.

Elain I hope you get to crash out in spectacular fashion. You deserve it girl.

Not gonna lie. If the dude that I was attracted to came into my home told me I was a piece of shit because my feral sister decided to hunt after my ain't shit father was gonna let us starve. And I was bad at archery. Then him being there was a threat to my safety and he kept flirting with me. Would not leave me alone.

And because him and his friends where having political meetings at my house, I was kidnapped by the opposition turned Faye against my will.

And while I'm on my healing journey, I'm helping with the fucking war effort he again would not leave me alone, flirting with me the whole time and then one finally I'm like OK I can do this. I'm gonna show affection to this man back .... he drops my hand when his ex walks back in?

And then he decides to when he thinks we are about to die, declare his undying love and about how he will see me in the next lifetime. He disappears without a fucking word.

THEN the next time I see him at Christmas, he is literally exchanging lingerie while I am having the biggest existential crisis of my life. Then proceeds to not leave me alone. Yeah my crash out would have been worse.

I would have been so much worse.

She didn't even burn a building down. She didn't even lit the med tent he was in on fire. What do you mean she mean and abusive? lol she's not mean enough. What do you mean Cassain your sad about how mean she is have you ever tried not playing in her face first? All you had to do was hang out a dive bar BFFR.
