PLEASE elaborate on the Rossi/Mafa hc

okay, so we know he grew up in Long Island in the 60s/70s where the Mafia was pretty popular. his old friend in 5x03 was definitely involved in organized crime, like his bar i have no doubt was being used to launder money. so he's around the right age in the right place

we also know he was very easily influenced as a youth, like being convinced to pee on another kid to win the approval of the group, so it wouldn't be out of character for him to join organized crime because his friends were

even as an FBI agent, he has illegal cuban cigarettes and if he's not above breaking the law as a member of law enforcement, i doubt he would have been concerned as a kid

basically, i think he was in the Mafia, and realized where his life was heading, so he signed up to join the marine corps to avoid ending up in jail
