We are taught to push people away when they start to show us things that we don't like and men get very misunderstood, due to this.

Just because he has addictions and a few toxic traits, doesn't necessarily mean that he is choosing to be this way.

You don't know what kind of things he had to endure that turned him into this version of himself and it's when his 'demons' surface that he needs you the most.

Crawl down into the trenches with him and try to understand why he does these things, before trying to judge his pain and leaving him alone.

I met someone years ago who I truly believed was my twin flame. We built a beautiful relationship filled with love, growth, and mutual support. For a time, it felt like we were everything the other person needed. We brought out the best in each other. She was the light to my dark.

But she ended things suddenly, and to me, it felt like it came from a place of insecurity and an unwillingness to face the hard parts of personal growth. When a challenge arose that she felt couldn’t be resolved, she chose to walk away rather than work through it. I believe emotional immaturity played a role, and now we’re caught in this strange in-between. We still see each other often. We both admit there are lingering feelings. Yet, every time I try to address the issues, she pulls back, saying she doesn’t know how to fix things. She labels herself as broken, insists I deserve better, and uses that as a reason to stay stuck.

Every time we drift apart, it becomes harder to find the same feelings that once brought us back together. I still love her, but I’m struggling to see how we can make this work if she refuses to grow or change. I’m left wondering how can I move forward, either individually or together, when it feels like we’re always circling the same pain?

It sounds like you had the 'honeymoon' phase of the relationship and then things wore off, before all of your patterns and 'demons' got brought up to the surface.

This happens with twins, because we mirror each other's insecurities and the things that we need to work on.

It's crucial that you work through these things together though, because that is the only way to truly heal both of you.

This is the problem with the world we live in. Everyone needs to be 'fixed' and when it comes to difficult times, people just leave.

That's what we're taught and how we're told to be.
