The world of Pandora.

My boyfriend got the borderlands movie blu ray for cheap from his work, and we watched it again yesterday.

It isn’t any better, just so you know.

They didn’t try to alter anything from the original movie, so the axe body spray and man helping them open the hatch were both clearly visible in wonderful blu ray quality.

I wrote down my thoughts yet again, but I’ll just mention a few.

I finally got to see it with subtitles, I’m hard of hearing and probably have issues processing what I do hear with my hearing aids, so I full on missed that the bad guy does have a first name, it’s not just “Atlas”. Go figure.

I still love Kreig, but my hate for Lilith’s wig got worse. My god that thing’s ugly. Marcus is criminally under used imo.

The cgi is still questionable, in moments where it’s just a cgi shot it looks okay, but add live action and it looks lower effort.

Tiny Tina’s backstory was ruined to me. In the games her parents were killed by Hyperion experimentation. She had to learn to survive, and found an almost parent figure in Roland, which is why his death affected her so much. In the movie, she was grown in a lab, maybe experimented on and then met Roland and that’s it. She loses so much depth. And all of it is because they needed to shoehorn her into the movie because she’s a popular character, she wasn’t even in borderlands 1, which is what I assume most of the movie’s inspiration came from.

I’ve become a little more okay with Tannis, Jamie Lee Curtis, though a bit older for the role, did play the games before hand, and seemed to have love for the IP. My only issue is it’s definitely out of character for Tannis to go with them to find the keys, she would absolutely just sit on the ECHO and tell them what to do/insult them.

All Lilith seems to do in the movie is complain. She isn’t likeable, she doesn’t want to be there, it isn’t funny, the joke is getting as old as Lilith herself. And I still hate her hair.

Finally, the end feels cheap. As far as I know, the Firehawk symbol appeared at the end of Borderlands 3, when Lilith did something absolutely huge, and teleported Elpis. Here, it’s played as a gimmick, a joke, a funny little thing she can just do on a whim, and honestly, it’s kind of a big middle finger to fans of the franchise.

There. I still hate this movie, it’s low effort, it feels like a mess of “look at this familiar thing! It’s from the games! You love it, right?”.

At least it had a “dook hut, no fapping” sign.
