I truly don't understand the "They butchered Cassian's characterization in Andor" crowd, like
Sweetheart, I know that character development is a foreign concept in modern media, so coming face to face with it might be a shock to the system, but it does exist
I watched Rogue One a few weeks ago, and I've started Andor again today, and I really don't know how people don't see that at his core, Cassian's still the same person: bold, impulsive, loyal, doesn't care about authority, and he's so incredibly devoted to his beliefs - and yes, those beliefs change, but this is called growth
This is all I have to say on the matter

Bix's ending is feminist, poetic, and perfect for her character...
...and I'll explain why I think so.
Andor spoilers, obviously.
To begin, let's discuss that having a baby is a completely valid choice.
Feminism is about having the agency to make choices about our futures, our fertility, and what womanhood means to an individual. Feminism is about protecting a woman's right to choose and recognizing that another woman's choices are valid, even if they're not the same as yours. Feminism is seeing all aspects of being a woman, not just want you want to see.
There is nothing "tradwife" or stereotypical about deciding to have a baby unless someone is forcing you to do so. The term "tradwife" refers to the confinement of a woman to traditionally feminine roles for the purpose of serving a man, and I don't see any of that happening to Bix. Any woman, anybody, is allowed to be happy at the arrival of a baby, especially one that's a product of love.
Bix having a child is a classic, intrinsic symbol of peace. Through a biological lens, times of war, famine, and injury often disrupt menstrual cycles and women are unable to conceive or carry children. From an anthropological standpoint, people are often unwilling to bring children into a world in which they will not be safe. Bix making the decision to carry her child to term tells us that she is both healthy enough to do so, and secure enough in her future to look on her child with optimism.
On the topic of women, let's talk about the others.
Many of the criticisms I see discuss how the writers "ruined" Bix's characterization as a strong female lead by giving her a child. I'd like to ask, how does having a baby make Bix any less of a strong woman than Vel, Cinta, Kleya, Mon? Bix sacrifices her way of life, her loved ones, her freedom, her morals, everything. What more do you want? What does a woman have to do to earn your respect?
Not every woman's story will look the same because not every woman is the same. Not every woman is going to act like Cinta, because not every woman can be a ruthless killing machine determined to stop at nothing to avenge the fallen. Not every woman is going to speak like Vel, because not every woman is an ironsides leader with ironclad discipline tasked with maintaining order. Not every woman is going to think like Kleya, because not every woman is an unflappable strategist that has to see every step ahead of her to keep everyone on track. Not every woman can be Mon Mothma and carry the immense weight of a double life on perfectly straight shoulders. Not every woman is going to be Bix, because they don't have her personality, her experiences, or her values.
If you want stories of espionage and combat, of high-stakes missions and meetings and exchanges, of danger and excitement, there are plenty of other women in the series to look to and they're characterized fully and beautifully. If you want the story that reminds us that enduring and looking for tomorrow is heroic in itself, look to Bix.
On Cassian and Rogue One
I honestly don't think anything about Andor changes anything about Rogue One, or vice versa. Anyone who has ever loved or been loved before knows that you don't love in the same way twice - every person and relationship creates a completely unique connection.
Cassian and Bix's relationship is one of knowing. Their story begins long before we meet them: "I don't remember not knowing him." They share the heavy burden of remembering the sights, sounds, customs, traditions, and experiences of a culture that was destroyed. It's no wonder that they have such a close, intimate, honest relationship - Cassian is the only person alive that really knows Bix, and Bix is the only person alive that really knows Cassian. This is exactly why Bix leaves Yavin and enables Cassian to go forth and meet Jyn.
Jyn and Cassian's relationship is one of kinship. They share a similar past and similar feelings about the rebellion. They ask similar questions of their morals and orders, and react similarly in most situations. They do not have long to explore the respect and loyalty they feel for each other as the last two members of a suicide mission, but they are able to share moments of priceless human connection on Scarif.
Here's what I know: the product of Bix and Cassian's love was a precious child to keep their legacies alive. The product of Jyn and Cassian's love was a safe world for that child, and every child like them. Doesn't seem to be much to complain about.
Now, we'll talk about Bix's personality and motivations and how this is her happy ending.
We first meet Bix on Ferrix as a mechanic salvaging and selling parts to the rebellion. This comes at little personal cost to her other than her time. Bix is content and even in a relationship. Bix is the first person to blame Cassian when he comes back: "Everyone blames you, you know...You killed two corpos and came home to hide." She's brutally tortured and traumatized as a result. Her way of life, her friends, her planet are destroyed by the Empire. The cost of the rebellion almost kills her.
In Season 2, Bix continues to be horribly abused, in so many ways, by the Empire. She makes a life on Mina-Rau, using her skills, drawing portraits of Maarva and matchmaking for Wil. She is living a peaceful life with her family and new friends, only to lose them and forced to start all over. She's confined to Coruscant, begging to go to the store she likes or the big park only to be told she can't for fear of discovery. She buys flowers for the table. She's happy to have intimate, domestic time with Cassian and is distraught when he has to leave again. She has to sit behind and wait, anxious and afraid, while her only loved one leaves with no promise of coming back. She has to cope with the fact that people must be killed just for seeing her face. The cost of the rebellion is encroaching on her life and her morals in ways that she's not okay with, but she sticks it out because "if I'm giving everything, I want to win."
So they leave. They go to Yavin and join the Army, and she's well. She has fresh air, her loved ones. She feels safe within her community, and at peace. But then, Cassian's declaration - Bix must make a choice, and she does. Bix makes the most selfless, most selfish choice: she forces Cassian to stay with the rebellion. Bix believes so strongly, wholeheartedly, in Cassian, that she gave him to the rebellion with the belief that this act would turn the tide. Without her doing so, Jyn is not taken seriously. They never go to Scarif. The rebellion is extinguished on Yavin and the galaxy is condemned. But she left. Like Luthen, she burned her decency by leaving Cassian with no choice but to carry on. She burned their future together, knowing that's the only way that her and their child could be safe.
Bix gave, tried, outlasted, and sacrificed. She suffered and toiled and gave every last thing she cherished to the rebellion.
She is stronger than many of us could ever hope to be, and she deserved her chance at happiness with her little piece of Cassian. Bix, to me, is Andor's Frodo Baggins. She reminds us all that it's okay not to be okay. She reminds us that humans are not machines. She represents those of us that have outlasted unspeakable hardships and came out changed permanently. Most of all, her story and her ending represent that happiness is a noble pursuit. Violence, peril, and drama are coveted by those who have never experienced them, and peace is the real prize.

Andor has become one of my favourite tv shows of all time, not just for how well written it is, but for how real it felt the many times it depicted the extent of a fascist government. Like the Ghorman Massacre, which has been compared to various similar events that happened in different countries, mine included. I'm from Peru, and for the past decade I've been fearing my country may soon descend into a full dictatorship, especially in the last few years. We've been so close to that many times, so many protests ending with civilians killed by the police or the army, conservative calling anyone that speaks out a 'communist' or 'terrorist', and right now our congress is full of greedy idiots passing laws that attack the educational system, the environment, our indigenous culture, arts, women, immigrants, and any minority, trans people most recently. But to see a mainstream show, from one of the biggest and most beloved franchises, not-so-subtly tell its audience how frail fascism is, that tyranny requires effort and that we can rebel against it even with the smallest acts... Wow! It just gives me hope that, whatever happens in my country, people will still rise to fight, for love, for freedom, and that I too can do my part. It's just beautiful.

Now that season 2 is over, reblogging this for some cute and fluffy Vel and Cinta cause very much needed.
Also when I say Love you to my beta now, it is very much in romantic sense. Between season 1 and season 2, how life changes.
After reading only angst from my dear, dear beta, I challenged her to write fluff. And she delivered!
I can't believe this person wrote such a cute, fluffy, all feel good fanfic.
@jake-and-amy-are-married , Love you so much and I am everyday grateful to have you in my life.

Indian security forces have launched an all-out war against Maoist fighters in Chhattisgarh state, as the federal government aims to “wipe out” long-running armed rebellions in the mineral-rich tribal region of the country.
The Karrigatta hills forest, which straddles across Chhattisgarh and Telangana states, has turned into a “warzone” with more than 10,000 Indian soldiers deployed in the anti-Maoist operation – dubbed “Operation Zero or Kagar”.
The right-wing Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which runs both the state as well as the central government, has drastically escalated security operations, killing at least 201 Maoist rebels, also known as Naxals, this year.

In 2023 I posted a fic, The Seed, it's a vegaspete fanfic and it is supposed to be a series. Since then I had to write a gift fic fir a friend and after the first part, I haven't posted the second one. I've recently picked up the second part again, which is at about 7.5k words.
I don't know if there are people waiting for that fic or not but I still wanted to say that I'm going to try and post the second part this year, it's going to be a huge block of a fic but I have so many ideas for it that I won't be able to stop even if wanted to.
Looking forward to finishing it so I can read it myself. 🤣🤣

I have a fic that I've been sitting on for one and a half year now because I took about one year to write another fic for a friend (whined and cried about it a lot) but the fic I originally wanted to write, I've got such ideas and I wanted to write it so badly and when it came time to write it, I wrote absolutely nothing. I think it's been 3 months now since I finished that fic for a friend. Yesterday I saw a movie that kind of broke me cause the writing was just *chef's kiss* and suddenly I got the desire to write and I did. Mind you only 500 words but I did.

You know when you don't like something's ending and you start browsing ao3?
You know when the ending is so devastating and the story is something that makes you go silent for a day, just remembering moments from the movie and feeling this well of sadness inside, that this will never get better, this hurt is here to stay, and even fanfiction is never going to erase what this piece of fiction has done to your soul?
I watched Paradise of Thorns, I still feel I have no words to write about it truthfully. I think I will need another two days.
I went to ao3 but I don't think I can read anything, this movie destroyed me a little bit.
