🗡️❤️🐺 "You're an absolutely stunning, murderous little creature." | Every time Hawke admires Poppy's viciousness I think of the scene from Princess Mononoke where Ashitaka calls San beautiful while she holds a knife to his throat. Throwback to MetroCon 2016, when eighteen-year-old me cosplayed my favorite badass wolf princess (and my favorite character in general). Poppy is definitely joining San on my list of favorite female characters, most of whom are skilled fighters that give off major tsundere vibes. I've been telling my boyfriend that he has some key similarities to Hawke: dark hair, strong jawline, and very attracted to a woman with an affinity for sharp, pointy things (don't mess with my favorite chef's knife). 💬 Do you usually favor certain types of characters? Anyway, I've been super obsessed with the Blood and Ash series, and my sleep schedule/project progress is suffering. I am about halfway through The Crown of Gilded Bones now, and the twists keep coming! 💬 Will you be watching Shadow and Bone on Netflix? | I had planned to read Siege & Storm and Ruin & Rising before giving the series a proper binge, but I changed my mind in favor of a watch party with some cool internet ladies. Because no watch party is complete without snacks and drinks, I came up with some ideas for themed cocktails: The Darkling: A Black Russian with maple for immortality and cinnamon for energy and lust (because helloooo Ben Barnes) 1.5 oz vodka 1/2 oz coffee liqueur 1/2 tbsp cinnamon-infused maple syrup* Optional- a dash of your favorite bitters The Sun Summoner: A Lemon Drop with lavender for protection and chamomile to imbue with the sun's power Granulated sugar to rim the glass 2 oz vodka 1 1/2 tbsp fresh lemon juice 1 tbsp chamomile lavender syrup** 1 lemon wheel for garnish *Place 4 oz maple syrup, 1 oz water, and 1 stick of cinnamon in a saucepan. Boil on medium heat. When reduced to half, remove from heat and let cool. Store the liquid in a bottle **Place 1/2 cup sugar, 1 cup water, 1 tbsp dried chamomile flowers, and 1/2 tsp dried lavender buds in a saucepan. Boil on medium heat until reduced to half. Let cool before storing in refrigerator. 💬 What activity have you been wanting to start for a long time? | I'm finally feeling better on the third day after my second COVID vaccine dose. I spent a lot of my sick time thinking about things I've put on hold and how I can start rebalancing my life (not just locking myself into my home office with papers and spreadsheets). I've been feeling that I haven't taken good care of my body physically since dance studios became unsafe. Now that my dance partner and I are both vaccinated, we can talk about relearning our competition choreography. I'd also really like to have an active hobby for myself. I've been wanting to try aerial for a long time (especially aerial hoop/lyra), and also kickboxing. Definitely not running, even though Breathe Annie Breathe is in this photo. Time to channel some Mars🔥 courage and try something new! . 📖: Amour Amour by Krista and Becca Ritchie (New Adult) is a book I've reread. Swoony alpha romance, strong (literally) heroine, and lots of circus/training/Las Vegas drama. The hero is Russian. ✨🌿🥬 It has been a crazy week of academic projects, work, and vaccination side effects, so my Gardyn is looking a lot more unkempt than it does in this photo. 💬 Would you say that you have a consistent aesthetic? | It's amazing how much of a difference a filter makes. 📖🎶 Listening to Fearless (Taylor's Version) has been an emotional rollercoaster, but I'm going to do it all week anyway. I was in elementary school when it came out, and now I'm old enough to feel nostalgic when Taylor sings about being fifteen. When I was fifteen, I was so worried about classmates finding out about my book blog (what a nerd, they'd say). I'd hole up in my room, wishing I could go on adventures, fall in love, and feel so sure about my friendships the way Reagan does in Open Road Summer. . 🛁✨🌿🕯️I indulged in a little bath magic last night to help rebalance myself as the semester approaches to peak stress levels. I'm loving the bath bombs I made: lavender and rosemary for a calm focus and cocoa butter for soft skin and self love. They came out amazingly detailed thanks to the mooncake-shaped molds. 💬How do you start your weekend mornings? | I prefer my weekend mornings nice and slow. I like to stay in bed for at least a chapter or two of my current read while Alice snuggles with me under the blankets. At some point, she'll decide she is hungry and meow as if she hasn't eaten in YEARS. After Alice gets some wet food, we check on our plants together. I love opening the blinds so that the crystals we hung above the Gardyn sparkle. Having crystals, vegetables, and running water in the living room has been so uplifting. I also like that having culinary herbs in the Gardyn means that I can free up my AeroGarden for some medicinal varieties. . P.S. Yes, that is a porg.
