the scariest thing about the generative AI thing is how quickly people have accepted it as an indefinite, irrevocable part of their reality. people have genuinely convinced themselves that ChatGPT is the only solution to most tasks - tasks they did with their own brain without any large effort two years ago. like you know damn well all of us used to write emails ourselves why are we pretending like this is an impossible task to do with your own two hands. what's with the fucking. AI revisionism. i feel like i am going insane.

Me: I fucking hate editing. Wife: Oh, so you like the actual writing part of writing better, then? Me: Marginally. Sometimes that's awful, too. Wife: .....then why do you write? Me: Because if I don't, the voices in my head never leave me alone. Wife: ....so when's your next therapy appointment?

reminds me of something I'm writing...
you can love someone and still murder them in cold blood without remorse btw!!! the two are not mutually exclusive and to suggest otherwise is a very heteronormative point of view!!!!

not me rising from the dead… anyways
so my school is making the junior version of the musical FAME, right, and I got appointed senior assistant producer long story short I ended up as an “unofficial” (?…idek) senior head producer cause I did my job real well. the thing about all this is that I’m flunking like three classes and I’m in the middle of my term exams but also producing the school play, being assistant director, studying and fighting with my parents; cause you know the failing classes. fun times!my dad is now threatening me to take me out of the school play if I don’t get mu grades up.
now… wanna hear what’s actually funny?
I’m applying to study a career in screenwriting and producing…like of fucking course I’m not gonna care about the sciences.
this song is from the musical and it’s literally my inner turmoil + if you guys haven’t heard of the musical go search it up is so goooood.

I fantasize about breaking this generational curse. Where I show more compassion than my parents ever did. Where my kids won't cower like I did. Where they'll feel safe than I did.
But when I looked at my parents. I see fragments of me. My dad paced the floors out of anxiousness. My mom hold her breath when she's about to cry. My dad picked his nails to calm him down. And my mom has urges to runaway from home. Just like me.
Maybe they were hurt and trying. And maybe it hurt me too. We were all hurt and trying. Breaking a curse that plagues but never winning
I fantasize about breaking this generational curse. Where I show more compassion than my parents ever did. Where my kids won't cower like I did. Where they'll feel safe than I did.
But maybe I should be doing it now.

"Feminism has fought no wars. It has killed no opponents. It has set up no concentration camps, starved no enemies, practiced no cruelties. Its battles have been for education, for the vote, for better working conditions, for safety in the streets, for child care, for social welfare, for rape crisis centres, women's refuges, reforms in the law. If someone says, 'Oh, I'm not a feminist', I ask, 'Why? What's your problem?' "

as a person who is looking to a future with a career in production (tho not especially theater, but I’ve done some work on that field) I feel op here is totally right. normally the people who make the magic of theater possible— for there to be stage, costumes, makeup, media marketing, practically everything aren’t given nearly enough credit as they deserve for scrabbling around actors, executives, and directors.
so I want to give a huge round of a applause to this niche industry!!
being a theater person in online spaces is weird cause im not a theater kid or an actor. i’m just one of the sguys who does all the behind the scenes stuff for shows and dies every time i have tech. the general public has no idea what my career is and most online theater people have no idea what im mean when i talk about my work. this isn’t me complaining cause i don’t care that much it’s just a bit funny to me that a huge part of what makes theater isn’t talked about outside of the people in the industry

Guys, stop being crap to creators. You aren’t hurting Amazon. You’re stealing from writers.
