Garden update

Have been taking advantage of some much needed sunshine, and done a bit of work out in the garden this week. Current status of most of my plants:

KALE - The seeds I planted in Autumn (Tuscan Black) are on the verge of death in the greenhouse, but surprisingly those in the patch (covered with a plastic juice bottle) are doing much better. I transplanted a couple more seedlings to the patch to see if they'll enjoy the same health. 

PYRETHRUM - The seedlings from my autumn sowing were well overdue to be repotted from the tiny punnets they were in. They're looking quite healthy in small pots in the greenhouse.

TANSY - The seedlings from my autumn sowing are still very small, but green and healthy looking. I repotted them into larger containers with more appropriate soil.

THYME - The seedlings are not looking very healthy - I'll see if I can nurse them back to health. They've been neglected in all the awful weather. The plant I already have is still thriving.

LEMON/LIME TREES - Lemon leaves were starting to yellow. I checked the pH and the soil was too acidic, so I've added some dolarmite lime to see if I can correct it.

HEIRLOOM SILVERBEET - Still looking healthy out in the patch, but not growing much at all. It is winter...

PURPLE SPROUTING BROCOLLI - Sowed some seeds today in punnets. These will stay in the glasshouse until they are ready to be repotted into my very large planters.

SWEET BASIL - Sowed some seeds today in punnets. They are in the glasshouse. I will move them when it warms up.

GREENFEAST PEAS - Sowed some seeds today in punnets. In glasshouse. 

LAZY HOUSEWIFE BEANS - Sowed some seeds today in punnets. In glasshouse. 

OREGANO - Looks like it's dying off. Maybe it's just a winter thing.

MINT - The chocolate and common mints are spreading nicely through the garden bed I had planted them in last spring. The spearmint in a pot is still looking good.

BLUEBERRY - All 3 plants are growing buds at the moment. 2 have had no leaves since Autumn. I tested the pH this week and added a lot of sulphur as the soil was nowhere near acidic enough.

RASPBERRY - All 3 plants appear dormant. Added some sulphur after testing the soil pH.

GOOSEBERRY - Growing some little leaves from the canes.
