The 2025 Gender Census is now open!

The 12th annual international gender census, collecting information about the language we use to refer to ourselves and each other, is now open until 30th August 2025.

It’s short and easy, for most participants it takes 5 minutes or less.

After the survey is closed I’ll process the results and publish a spreadsheet of the data and a report summarising the main findings. Then anyone can use them for academic or business purposes, self-advocacy, tracking the popularity of language over time, and just feeling like we’re part of a huge and diverse community.

So, this little girl was initially meant to be a future breeder. She's a gorgeous banded phantom with great genes. There was just one major problem... she was a non feeder. For months. I had to force feed her. For months. This is not something you want to perpetuate. So after months of force feeding she managed to graduate to more months of tease feeding. And now she will take the pink without teasing.

There's just still one remaining problem.

She needs to be held the ENTIRE TIME she is eating and swallowing or she will spit her food right back up.

I need to find a pet only home for the world's most ridiculous snake.

it's so wild to me that you absolutely cannot force a hyperfixation to happen. like you'll watch the most perfectly tailor-made-for-you content that everyone says you'll love and feel absolutely nothing, and then the thing you watch on a whim to fill time will reach through the screen and put its damn fingers in your brain and start rearranging the neurons right in front of you and every single time you're like THIS??? Charlie is going to die. And Alastor will follow not long after. It’s hilarious to watch, but Alastor hates failing, and now…now… It’s over. It’s done. He’d tried. He’d failed. So has Charlie. Both of them will go to oblivion this day. Perhaps the others will follow. No.  It’s a tiny little thought. So tiny he can barely hear it over the agonized screaming in his head and the bitterness of defeat. But Alastor is not the type to give up so blindly. He isn’t helpless. He reaches for that tiny little thought with everything he has. No, his exhausted but furious little scheming thought whispers. There isn’t much thinking left to him, not in the face of so much pain and loss, but what is left is furiously insistent. No. We won’t win. But we won’t lose. Spit in the face of Heaven. If you must die, die efficiently. Die spitefully. Save Charlie.

You need to move off of Google Docs!

I know some people have seen the news recently and may be doubtful of it. To the uninformed, Google Docs has started using AI to find "inappropriate" and "problematic" content, scraping your documents and deleting it. I know some people are unsure if this is real or think this is not going to affect them.

I regret to inform you that this is real.

As I was on a call with some writers and we were moving our documents as a precautionary measure, one person discovered entire pages missing that they did not delete themselves. This is happening to us, it's not a hoax or a rumor, it's happening right now. You need to move everything if you want to preserve it.

If you're a writer with writer mutuals, please reblog this so they know. I rarely write on Google Docs anymore, but I started my fanfics on there, and I would be devastated if I lost works more than ten years old because people decided marketing appeal is more important than creative freedom.

Most infuriating part of writing is having an idea and thinking oh, this is gonna be so good and wanting to IMMEDIATELY share the vision with other people because it's gonna be good but then you start writing it down and - it is gonna be good. Except. It is also gonna take so, so, so long to finish. And in the meantime. You are the only one with The Vision. Alone. Losing your mind. 😭

You know what? Forget the discourse. This is no longer my hill to die on.

You wanna ship canonically aspec characters because “aro/ace people can still date/have sex”? Okay, then. LET’S DO IT.  I wanna see an aromantic character with an alloromantic love interest. I wanna see that confession of undying love and the moment when the aro character says they will never feel the same way—not romantically.

I wanna see the asexual character with their allosexual partner. I wanna see that moment when the ace characters tries sex with their partner for the first time because they want to make them happy only to realize that they are 100% sex repulsed.

I wanna see the two demiromantics who don’t even know if what they feel is romantic attraction, but they adore each other and just want to make healthy snacks together and destroy each other at Mario Kart.

I wanna see the two aces who love sensual affection and are figuring out what they define as sexual or not.

I wanna see the romance + sex neutral aroace who happily and consensually does whatever makes their partner happy…but their partner still struggles with feeling undesired. 

Oh, babe. You thought shipping an aspec character would be just like shipping an allo character?
