bio: Xavier’s mother, a witch, fell in love with a werewolf. His father abandoned the family, so Xavier was raised only by his mother. His mother taught him magic as well as the origins of the donati family and the buia circle. His mother taught him to wear the donati name with pride. Xavier started developing an interest in necromancy, enchanted / cursed objects, and the supernatural / paranormal during his teen years. Apart from being a witch, he did live a somewhat normal lifestyle by attending school and taking up extracurricular activities such as art and music. He attended college for around two years before dropping out as he realized it wasn’t for him.

He joined a werewolf pack as he was trying to figure out his identity and where he belonged. Even though his mother had always said he was donati through and through, meeting his father as an adult implied otherwise. For a brief period of time, he felt like he didn’t belong in the donati family. he picked up odd jobs to make ends meet.

Eventually, he left the pack to focus on other endeavors. He opened up a psychic store at the age of twenty-four. After all, this had always been his passion.

for events: fortunately, Xavier did not receive any bodily harm as a result of the event. However, his store was ruined, which caused him a lot of stress. After the incident, he has been trying to put his store back together. Despite the haggard appearance of his store, he has been in business due to people trying to contact loved ones they have lost in the chaos.

inner thoughts: he’s not a fan of witches in the luce circle for obvious reasons. He doesn’t really associate with the unire witches either unless it’s for professional reasons. He’s not too fond of vampires due to the whole vampires vs. werewolves thing. Though he does get along with werewolves, he decided to mainly distance himself once he started to exclusively associate himself with the donati.

Her father was an economist and a professor whilst her mother was a bestselling author and a playwright. They had three children, two girls and one boy, with Jessica being the youngest. Jessica’s oldest sister was once Hanna Park’s best friend and a doctor. Her older brother was an international footballer. 

Jessica Kowara was a child actress who stared in a famous blockbuster film series, but after its conclusion, she decided not to continue with her acting career. Jessica wasn’t bad at acting, but she felt it was a hollow career for her. She went to college for economics. 

She has always known what she was and was taught to consider the balance of dark and light magic from a young age. Jessica and her siblings often trained together to combine their power to cast complex spells. At one point, they were the strongest trio in their family lines, but this all came to an end. 

Despite leaving her acting career behind, Jessica received a piece of fan mail that changed her life. She opened and read it to discover a cursed letter, threatening to destroy the people she loved if she didn’t follow its conditions. Naturally, she ignored it and continued on with her life, but the curse was real. Within the course of several weeks, she lost her family and friends in a series of unfortunate events. Most would have called them freak accidents, but with each death, the magic in the letter grew stronger and more obvious. 

Jessica doesn’t remember how she broke the curse because of how distraught she had been, or how she found Hanna’s contact number, but she delivered the news of the near annihilation of the Kowara family. Soon after this contact, she was taken under Hanna’s care. She wasn’t strong enough to trace the person or people responsible for the cursed letter, but after all her losses, she couldn’t find the energy to be angry. 

She focused her energies on finishing her degree and then finding a job as a financial analyst. Jessica doesn’t understand the move to Italy, but she doesn’t question Hanna and luckily for her, the transition wasn’t awful. She thankfully learned Italian during college and through several immersive study abroad programs. 

for events:

She’s numb to death so she isn’t too upset by the murders, but the flood was more than annoying. She wanted to drown herself in work to distract herself from life, but instead, she got an unhealthy amount of water. She remembered getting swept off her feet before getting pinned by a gondola. If she was a stronger swimmer, she probably wouldn’t have nearly drowned, but luck was on her side. She woke up in the ER and was told that she suffered some head trauma and a few flesh wounds.  She survived the worse to remember how awful it was. Again.

inner thoughts: Jessica doesn’t care about witches or the other species. She doesn’t have strong opinions for, or against anyone since she’s more concerned with her own set of troubles. She seems rather self-absorbed and truth be told, all she hopes for is to avoid any more trouble. 

relationships: friends who can tolerate her, she’s a downer and can be blunt, but there’s good in her somewhere. Eventually she’ll want to find the people responsible for the cursed letter, so people to help her with that or maybe even the people responsible for the cursed letter.

bio: Human, Carolina Xiomara Sanchez was the first born  child in Los Angeles California to her Mexican parents while working in the are. Due to them constantly being on the move to wherever they feel they are needed, Carolina only spent her early years in Southern California before being moved along with her parents to Venice, Italy. Since she was so young her parents felt they would not be uprooting her from much of anything, they were right. Growing up she was taught everything and anything her family line had handed down through the ages about hunting supernatural creatures, the fact that she was a girl was no barrier at all, being the first child they looked to her to carry on the family practice and lead the family name when they stepped down or passed away. She does not really have a hatred for supernaturals but she does believe there is an importance to keeping them in line to maintain a balance in society, making her role important and necessary. She works as a journalist, having earned her degree online and later making a name for herself by making her own blog which ha blown up in Venice for being about the daily occurring there as well as writing pieces for much larger known groups in the U.S. 

for events: The chaos of it all makes her uneasy, a bit scared. The fact that there is something much much larger at work than anything ever recorded making her imagination run wild.

bio: Born human, Oliver was changed by a main member of the De Pinto family in their early ages of being in an effort to save him from fatal wounds in a raid of his home. In his early years Oliver had a difficult time coming to terms with the fact that he was the lone survivor to the attack, losing three younger sisters and both of his parents in the process. It seemed illogical that he, whom despite of loving his family often resented the fact that he had to work so hard at an early age for them and lost his younger years to the toil of work, was now the only thing that was left of his family. After a little over a decade he came to realize that instead of resenting his new life he would put it to good use, living his life to the fullest, well the fullest he could. While this means that he must avoid being out in the sun for too long he enjoys going out around Venice around late afternoon when the sun is low and the rays are much weaker than at any other point in the day and only lessening as it disappears into the night, making his 4-5 hour limit perfectly timed. He is very much a child, although living for so long always keeping his young at heart mentality. He is currently an entrepreneur, making money off of some lucky investments and helping lead the work on the sun serum by his family.

for events: after living for so many years and learning to love his new life he isn’t ready to give that up, the event makes that a much greater priority, making him remember to keep his guard up

inner thoughts: He is pretty chill when it comes to other species, including humans, but isn’t too fond of Hunters, finding them a bit too quick to point the finger at supernaturals or whichever weapon at hand in this case. relationships: Group of friends he causes mischief around the island with. Romance, someone who wants to tie him down and makes him constantly go back and forth between wanting to settle and being wild and free. Family, people he sees as family after losing his own and know about his origins, these will be such strong bonds.

brief writings: 

bio: Born and raised in the san polo district of Venezia to the Fallaci witch family, Amara Nichole Fallaci was announced a remarkable witch. This was due to her strong connection to the living world around her since the day of  her birth. She would find herself frequently feeling one with her natural surroundings and the animals she encountered which only made the magic she later learned to practice much stronger than expected. At the age of 5 she was enrolled in ballet classes and since then she has had a love for the art of dance. Dancing became a passion just as strong as magic, she grew to become a regular dancer for the Venetian Dance Company, much to her parents approval. In her teenage years she came to learn than she did not completely agree with her circles beliefs. She currently learns dark magic in secret from her family. She is empathic, head-strong and very much a dork in everything she does. People call her a sight you wont soon forget, something she has so far lived up to.

for events: the event left her alert if not a bit paranoid for her family and the people she cares about. she was always very cautious but afterward it grew to a point where she now makes a note to take extra precautions when handling something remotely dangerous and or complicated.

inner thoughts: She loves her family but that doesn’t mean she agrees with them completely. She agrees that light magic is an important magic for witches but also knows that there cannot be light without darkness as the unire circle does, even learning some dark magic in secret from them.This doesn’t mean she’ll leave the circle, she fears the reaction of her family and doesn’t want to lose them. She believes that all creatures have a place in the balance of life and that they can keep that place as long as they don’t disrupt it. relationships: definitely something romantic, she’s had plenty of crushes but nothing she’s ever acted on, so basically she’s never been in an actual relationship. Friendships, her ride or dies that help her keep her secrets. Family, because who doesn’t love the tension of going against your families wishes.

affiliations: ambrose is the leader of the founding family de pinto. he is very protective over his family and is always looking out for their best interest. he is by no means an authoritarian leader, he allows and fully encourages each member to act as they wish to as long as they don’t break the core rules of the family. he wants to see them thrive and that’s why he’s working to create the serum– he hopes to take his family forward with it.

bio: 

Ambrose was a vineyard worker centuries before he owned one. He was raised in poverty and didn’t receive a higher education, instead, he went to work with his father as early as a thirteen-year-old. His family was of average size: three children, including himself, who was the oldest. He helped his parents make money so his two younger sisters could go to school and did everything to support them. From an early age, Ambrose was very protective of his family.

He worked at the vineyards for what would’ve been most of his life if he hadn’t been attacked. It happened on a late winter evening, the sun gone hours ago, as Ambrose finished a late shift. He was already in his fifties with a wife and two children. His wife had fallen ill during those cold weeks and was bedbound, which meant that all of the responsibility fell on him to keep the house running. Of course, his children were young adults now, so his need to worry wasn’t grand. Until the attack. Right, the attack that happened on that day.

He and his wife died, but his wife a few weeks later than him. Ambrose… not really, not fully. He was thought to be dead after being mauled to death by a wild animal but he regained health and rose from his grave, quite terrifying enough.

It was a vampire who attacked him and thought it would be pretty neat to let him live (this is me being inspired by What We Do In The Shadows). Ambrose found that out pretty early on by his standards. Unfortunately, his children were a witness to it all after their mother, his wife, passed away from her illness. Seeing as they had buried both of them in their backyard, Ambrose didn’t know what to do– he knew that as he was, he would outlive his children and that meant watching them die like he watched his beloved die. He couldn’t bear it, he wouldn’t, so with their consent, he turned them.

That is how the found family, De Pinto, began. He spent his early years of being a vampire figuring it out; deciding what he’d do now to support his kids, how he would teach them to drink human blood. He was always an empathetic man, someone who never wished harm upon others, however, he had no choice. So Ambrose shifted his morals and went for the criminals, for the wrongdoers, for the ones he thought wouldn’t be missed. Some would say he played God, killing the men and then bleeding them out so his children wouldn’t have to drink directly from the body.

It was only after a few decades that Ambrose pursued the education he never received in his human years. He learned to read and write and fell in love with the acts; a century later, he became a historian. He’s gone after many different names in his life, all of the historians who are known today for preserving some of the most important parts of history and historical figures– some of which he knew in person.

Along the way, his family grew. The blood relation in the De Pinto family only spreads to his children, the rest were adopted, however, he treats each individual as he does his bloodline. He is not overly fond of turning others and is extremely careful with it, having strict family rules about it. He knows how difficult it is to live as a vampire; to suddenly have your morals changed, to learn what an immortal life feels like. He would rather let someone die than turn them into a vampire, but there have been exceptions made along the way (which will be plotted with the family!).

Ambrose has never gone too astray from the man he once was. He’s worked extremely hard to keep faithful to himself even though he has certainly felt bloodthirsty and acted upon it for a stage in his life– it happens, sometimes– sometimes, he still murders. Mostly, though, he has it so that the De Pinto’s drink from frozen blood bags, provided from local hospitals and clinics. He does not endorse murder in any way, shape, or form. He wants his family to be good even when others might say that it’s not in their nature to do so, just like they’ll say that it’s not in their nature to be out in the sun for longer than five hours.

The truth is, Ambrose misses the sun. He misses the way it would burn the back of his neck on the summer days spent working in the vineyards, he misses outdoor meals with his family in the spring, the few hours they would get in the winter. Five hours a day is not enough. He wants to spend longer in the vineyards. He wants to read for hours under the shade of a tree and then to stretch his legs with a stroll, collecting grapes, saying hello to the workers and staying for a conversation. Five hours is not nearly enough for everything he wants to do, for everything he wants his family to independently achieve.

His mansion has a vast library. Ambrose has been a lecturer in universities and independent seminars before. He knows that being in the public eye is not wise, for people will start to notice that he does not age which is why he only gives lectures every dozen decades that pass when there’s no chance of running into his previous students. He’s an extremely private person and it’s very difficult to get a seat in his talks since the room is usually small, all of which is done on purpose so that he limits the number of people who meet him. Outside of giving lectures in public halls and wandering in the vineyards, however, Ambrose doesn’t go out much. He likes being in the comfort of the De Pinto house above all.

for events: it planted a seed of panic in ambrose. he privately fussed over his family, making sure that they kept safe and free of harm. he mourns the destruction of peoples homes as well as the recent deaths that have him on high-alert. the flood caused some damage to his own business, the expansive vineyards, and he’s busy picking up what’s left, working it through with his clients and employees, though he’s much more concerned about what the big picture of it is. seeing the arrival of the demons and angels has him worrying about what the future holds for them and how they can avoid any more casualties and terror. 

inner thoughts: ambrose has always been a live and let live fellow, which is why he doesn’t particularly fancy the hunters. he knows that they can be helpful sometimes, like when beings go astray and murder innocent people, but he would much rather keep them at a distance. otherwise, he doesn’t have any ill feelings towards the other species. he believes in peaceful co-existance and has respect for every living being. he is particularly fond of regular humans for the most part, though.  

relationships: i’m extremely interested in developing the dynamics within the de pinto family! i also want to build connections between ambrose and the other founding family leaders, whether it be (most likely) positive or negative. since he gives lectures, i’d also be interested in having a few pupil connections that stem outside of his family. when it comes to specific ones, i’d like a deep connection with other beings that have been around as long or longer than he has– one or two others (outside of his family) who he has known for centuries that at this point their relationship goes beyond the regular dynamics. i find that it would also be hilarious if he had a FWB whomst he only hooked up with once every decade or so. oh! and of course, a researcher who is helping the family develop the sun serum.

If we’re applying for more than one character do we have to fill out the writing sample portion of the application multiple times as well?

      we don’t have a writing sample portion, love !   honestly what’s most important is the bio, so if you don’t want to write a novel on any of the other sections because you’re filling in multiple apps, you don’t need to go so heavy on the other sections.
