to anyone whom this may concern:
You are a Writer, even if:
you write in different mediums (poetry, novels, scripts, books, essays, articles, etc).
haven't yet drafted a complete book.
your book(s) are in countless excerpts you haven't yet compiled or put an end to.
you haven't written in weeks, months, or years.
you are not able to "show" rather than "tell" in the first go/all the time (it's okay, we all have been there. you don't need to show it all in just one go. maybe go tell first, and once you're done with the scene, you can revise it.)
you feel like your drafts are below word vomit, unsightly.
you sometimes want to strangle the document, yourself, the plot, or even your characters for not acting out the way they should be.
your inner voice convinces you are better off dropping your wip/idea/project and you should die.
YOU DONT FEEL LIKE ONE.
the point is, there is no such thing as a 'perfect' writer or how a writer should be. we all write differently, and we all are different. to be a writer, you need the spirit, the drive to-be-a-writer. your determination to seek out writing advice or to be 'better' tells me you are already a writer. sometimes, to be better, you first have to let yourself be the way you are, accept it, and then mend it. if you want to just jump into the mending part, more than often it wont work. i know the validation of your work being admired by a bunch of readers is inviting, but remember, before you write for anyone, you write for yourself.
