Nice Creams ~ A DELTARUNE one shot

I wrote fanfic for the first time in a long while last week and I’ve decided to keep going! This is a small scene of Susie and Noelle going on an ice cream date. I hope someone enjoys this!

“You ready?” Noelle asked meekly.

Susie felt her racing thoughts stop as she took her in. Noelle was in a sundress covered in little butterflies. She looked amazing and effortless. It made Susie wish she had done more than let Kris comb out her hair with one of Toriel’s old brushes.

“Yeah, let’s go.” Susie said before she could change her mind.

They fell in step together, and Susie tried to not fidget with her hands as they walked.

When Noelle had first asked her on his outing, she didn’t fully understand. Susie always admired Noelle for her kindness, her brain, her golden hair. She never thought that Noelle might find something to like about her. Let alone like her enough to ask her out on-

“Susie? Suuusie. Susie!”

What was going on?

“Um, yeah?” Susie turned to face Noelle, stopping their walk. With the setting sun, her hair looked nearly glowing. It nearly made her lose attention again.

“Where did you go? I was asking you what kind of ice cream you liked.”

Oh.

Susie tried to think about the last time she even had ice cream. It began to lead her down another road she shouldn’t venture while with Noelle. Least she became distracted again.

“I don’t know, I guess I like all of them.” They both moved forward again.

“I know it sounds a little off, but my favorite is oatmeal.”

It caught Susie off guard. She could immediately imagine what it would taste like.

“They make that?” she asked.

“I don’t know about anywhere else, but at Nice Creams yeah. They have a ton of odd flavors. Haven’t you gone before?”

This is exactly why Susie didn’t want to do this. Because no, she hadn’t ever gotten ice cream from there. How would perfect Noelle ever understand that?

“Um, I haven’t. My mom is-“ Before she could think of a lie Noelle interjected for her.

“Oh, is she one of those crazy health types?” Susie figured there was no harm in a white lie so she played off of it.

“Yeah, she like only lets us eat um grass.”

She was praying for the conversation to be over, to move onto another topic, but to her surprise Noelle let out a laugh.

“Oh, Susie, she does not.”

Her smile was infectious, and Susie couldn’t stop her mouth from curving upward.

“No, she doesn’t.” she admitted. Was there even any point lying to Noelle? She always managed to see through her rough exterior anyway, without any explanations needed. It made Susie wonder how Noelle had even learned to look for things like that.

They turned the left corner, and there it was, Nice Creams.

“Come on,” Noelle said before Susie could doubt anything, “let’s go in.”

Susie went to take a step forward, but then saw Noelle’s outstretched hand. She looked back up to Noelle, but her eyes were fixed on the ground and her cheeks were flushed again.

Susie didn’t try to hide her smile as she gripped Noelle’s hand, and rushed them into the ice cream parlor. Into their beginning.

A DELTARUNE Drabble, if you fancy.

I’m not sure if anyone still actively reads fanfiction on here, but I got bored working on my current project and spiraled off into this very small scene. Noelle is a little nervous (rightfully) about donating blood. I hope someone enjoys this!

“K-k-kris, will you hold my hand?” Noelle’s shaking voice rang out.

Kris didn’t even spare her a look. They only shot out their pale human hand for her to hold, and she did. She gripped their hand so hard that Susie could tell it hurt.

Susie didn’t blame her. If Kris hadn’t been there earlier, she thought she might have chickened out all together. You’d think that after all of her battles with monsters she wouldn’t be afraid of a little blood. But once the nurse put the needle in, Susie had felt instantly on edge. She couldn’t imagine how Noelle might be feeling now.

Noelle kept her eyes shut as the nurse readied her arm and shaved off a small sliver of her fur. Just as the Nurse asked, “Are you ready, hun?” The door burst open.

“Dearest, Noelle!” Susie heard Beardly call out in horror, “You need not do this! Your fear of needles need not be compromised! I, Berdly, shall donate in your honor!”

The room was silent for a moment before the nurse quipped up, “Son, you can’t donate more than one pint per day.” Berdly’s face fell with dispar.

“I-It’s actually okay now, Berdly. I can do this. Right?” Noelle’s eyes shifted back and forth between Kris and Susie. Kris gave her a solid nod. Susie felt pride bubble up in her stomach, not for herself, but for Noelle.

“Hell yeah you’ve got this! Move over Kris,” Susie rounded the bed Noel was laying on and reached her claws over Kris’s hand, “the power of both of us will get you through this.”

Noelle’s cheeks flushed, and she bashfully looked away from Susie. “Thanks, Susie, but-“

Berdly wasted no time running over and joining the group, “Worry not, Noelle! With the combined powers of a triple trucies, nothing will make you braver!” He then slammed his wing down over their pile of hands.

Noelle chuckled while shaking her head. She looked back up at them and said, “You guys are the best. Did you know that?”

Kris’s smile grew. Susie found herself melting on the inside, and refused to meet Noelle’s eyes. Berdly was about to open his beak again, but the Nurse beat him to it.

“Deary, I don’t have all afternoon.”

“Of course,” Noelle rushed out. She looked back to the Nurse with d e t e r m i n a t i o n that Susie had only seen her posses in the dark world, “Let’s do this.”

Half way there! Not even fully finished with Act 1 yet. Hopefully I can finish by the end of September to give myself a break before Nanowrimo!
